If no response, call or have

someone call

911

Begin CPR

As soon as AED arrives:

Press On/Off button

Remove clothing from

patient’s upper body

Remove excess hair and

moisture from chest

where pads will be placed

Open defibrillator pads

package

Pull off backing and place sticky side on patient’s bare skin

One pad on left lower quadrant below nipple, and one on right upper quadrant above nipple

If patient appears to be under 8 years

of age or 55 pounds, use infant/child

reduced energy pads, if available.

Place one pad over breastbone and

one pad directly opposite of pad on

front of body on the back.

Follow instructions provided by the

FR2+ Defibrillator’s voice and text

prompts.

The defibrillator will analyze the

patient’s heart rhythm, if pads are

placed properly. DO NOT TOUCH

PATIENT WHILE DEFIBRILLATOR IS

ANALYZING HEART RHYTHM.

If no shock is advised, the FR2+ will

prompt you to begin CPR.

If shock is advised, FR+ charges to prepare

for shock delivery. Make sure no one is

touching patient or pads. Press Shock

button, a voice prompt tells you the shock

was delivered.

4 ways to tell defibrillator is ready to deliver a shock:1. You hear a voice prompt telling you to

deliver shock2. You see the shock button flashing3. You hear a steady tone4. You see a text prompt telling you to

press the Shock button

Resume CPR if needed until

you hear a prompt telling you

to stop or emergency

personnel has arrived and

taken control of the situation.
