OVERCOME THE DATA HURDLE TO BOOST PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE

Does your business rely on complex, costly machines and other physical assets to serve customers? The value of these assets can far exceed yearly revenue, so it’s critical to keep them in excellent operational condition and prevent unplanned downtime. This requires proper maintenance – which is faster and more cost-efficient when you use machine-to-machine connectivity and sensors that collect information about assets’ statuses, analyze and predict failures, and make timely, data-driven decisions that dramatically optimize costs.

But operationalizing predictive maintenance requires capturing, preparing, and analyz-ing massive volumes of data in real time so you can detect even the slightest operational

anomaly that indicates the need for mainte-nance. This data can be massive. And bringing it to IT systems for analysis is no small task.

SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service, technical foundation, helps you jump-start your path to predictive maintenance. As the common, on-premise framework for all maintenance-related applications running on the SAP HANA platform, it delivers functional-ity that automates the collection, preparation, and integration of asset-related data for busi-ness use. With this work done for you, you can leverage existing analytics tools, such as SAP Predictive Analytics software, on top of the foundation. Or, you can engage your IT depart-ment or SAP Custom Development to develop a solution for you.

GET THE DATA YOU NEED – READY FOR ANALYSIS

The technical foundation prepares and brings together the data you need so it’s always ready for analysis across any silo of related data and applications you have deployed.

IT/OT Data Integration and ModelingThe technical foundation supports IT/OT integration by providing data modeling and preparation for business data from the SAP ERP application and customer relationship management systems (for example, customer names). It also provides the basis for opera-tional sensor data from machines or vehicles, such as measurements and alerts. The founda-tion can then be used to map your IT/OT data to a machine data model and a business data model implemented on an SAP HANA database.

Data ManagementUse the foundation for quick access, aggregation, and formatting of data so it’s ready for analysis. You can configure your OT data structure, integrate the OT data with the IT data, and define Structured Query Language (SQL) views for analysis by selecting readings – as well specify time granularity, aggregation type, and more.

A Trusted Application Development PlatformAs a trusted application development platform, the technical foundation uses the SAP HANA database and a standard develop-ment platform for application logic and services. It also uses the user interface development toolkit for HTML5.
