Everyone is talking about brands, personal brand or brand equity, and how important it is to have

great pictures of yourself and a great looking website. However, people are getting distracted by these simple aesthetics and not focusing on what we call their ‘Million Dollar Presence’.

The most important part of building this Million Dollar Presence is knowing exactly who you are, that’s why getting a mentor or an expert to help you is crucial. Anybody can hire someone to create a cool banner or logo, but that won’t add real value to your presence. Your presence needs to transcend the pictures that are out there.

So who are you then, what is your presence? How do you build it?

A lot of people identify themselves as their product or service. But what really builds your presence isn’t just your products. It’s also the congruency in what you are thinking, doing, saying,

and even posting. It’s your reputation. It’s everything about you. It’s who you are.

When people connect with you, either in person or via social media, your presence is leaving behind an emotion, a memory. People want to trust you, however, when they perceive inconsistencies in you and your presence it makes it harder for them to do that. So, if your Instagram is not congruent with your Twitter or your Twitter is not congruent with your Facebook, it’s the same as if your words, actions, and thoughts were not congruent.

People don’t trust your brand or your label, they trust YOU. They trust what they experience with you, the results you can give them. If you take care of your clients and serve them with integrity, that Million Dollar Presence becomes a Million Dollar Reputation. The market will know that you get great results and you’re easy to work with. That reputation will feed your business and, as a result, will help you exponentially with your marketing.

We’ve seen a huge gap in the marketplace of media communication, but really marketing in general. Great people are giving up on their dreams or

Media right now is not authentic. People may say that it is, but there is a big gap and a need for change towards real, authentic media in order to transform the world.

transformation in their life. If you can’t do that, you’re not a very effective leader.

The people you reach won’t get results or transformation, and they will just become followers. You don’t want followers. You want to lead leaders and motivate others to get out of their own way and start being a resource for others.

{4}CONGRUENTWe don’t attract what we want, we attract

what we are. That can be scary for people who think they have clients that are complainers or that aren’t doing any work. They are focusing on showing off to the market that they can use big words, which may be concise but may not be compelling, rather than focusing on creating results. Others may have a compelling call to action, but it is built on a promise that is not really honest or congruent. This type of marketing attracts clients that are confused, unsure, and misled.

The truth is that you are attracting reflections of you and your marketing. Watch the results that you are getting with anything you are communicating. Are you attracting your ideal client? Are you satisfied with your results? Be consistent with your communication and know that someone is watching.

One of the things that I’ve found most useful is to apply these 4 C’s of Effective, Authentic Communication for one week. Look for clear, concise, compelling and congruent ways of communication. Look into your clients and into your life without judgment. Imagine that everything you do in your life, in your relationships, in your clients, in your offers, is just a mirror. What is the mirror saying to you? Look at it without fear and be courageous.

{1}CLARIT YClarity is what builds the

trust between us and the people we serve. Without trust you really don’t have a profitable and sustainable business. When someone gives you their time and attention by watching your video or by reading your blog, it is an exchange of value. If they don’t see any value coming from you because you are not clear, they will just move on to someone else who can provide that clarity. They won’t be sure what or who they’re buying.

{2}CONCISEBesides being Clear, it’s

importance to be Concise. If you’re going to do a post of any kind such as a video or blog article, and you’re not getting to the point, rambling on and on without adding value to the conversation, people are going to turn you off.

{3}COMPELLINGAs a leader, which is an

action not a title, it’s your job and your responsibility to help someone who doesn’t quite understand what it is they need. You help them by giving them something compelling to move forward with and encouraging them to start the journey to get that result or

Do you want to increase your profits? Are you wondering what the fastest way to do that is? Are you hoping that

the answer is not to do more marketing?

When working with clients, the first place I look for profits is in their products. I have three specific questions I want to know the answer to…

1) What problems does your product solve?

2) Who is your ideal client?3) How fast does you product

solve your client’s problem?

The answers to these questions often reveals an opportunity to increase profits and leverage. For your business to succeed you must sell amazing products. But what is an amazing product? Let’s look at 3 important aspects.

WHAT PROBLEM DO YOU SOLVE?Your product needs to solve a problem for your client. It can be a financial, health, relationship, mindset or any other problem. The key here is that it needs to solve the entire problem. Unfortunately many products only solve part of a problem.

What is the problem your product or service solves? Can you articulate it with clarity?

DO YOU SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE?You must be able to speak the language of your ideal client. Every morning your ideal client wakes up with problems, challenges and goals. Being able to communicate with them in “their” language is critical. To do this you must know exactly who your ideal client is. All too often a business is targeting a very general “niche.” Do you have a detailed profile of your ideal client? Do you understand the challenges they face? Do you understand the conversations that are already going on in their head?

DO YOU SOLVE THE PROBLEM FAST?When your clients come to you with a problem, they want it solved fast. They’re in pain. Their pain is not having what they want.

All purchases are emotional decisions that are then justified by rationale. Once a client has purchased they want the outcome as quickly as possible. Are you delivering the outcome as fast as you can?

RE-CREATING THE STORY

OF OUR LIVES

W e have seen celebrities hypnotized by the image of themselves, confusing

that image with their identity. A person with a loving family and all the material abundance can find themselves in depression and pain; others may experience financial success without fulfillment.

Our self image has been distorted. Our circumstances produce a veil. This veil obscures our ability to appreciate the simple things in life and the people that surround us.

The sense of identity or image we have of ourselves comes from a mirror image we develop as a child. Life mirrors our beliefs, experiences, cultures and emotions and those of the people around us. Our identity is created by our unconscious interpretation of those experiences.

When we are born, we begin to unconsciously adapt to our reality by interpreting and internalizing our experiences. This begins the story of our lives. By cleansing

the mirror of our mind, we can see clearly and create a new reality from a new choice in life.

To re-create the story of your life, you need to know yourself. You can begin by creating an inner space and being still. Be honest with yourself. See your story. Recognize how this story has been defining your choices. Once you understand this, you may choose a different path.

We can start by asking ourselves: “Who am I? What do I really want in life? What am I doing to myself?” Whatever you are doing, you are doing to yourself.

When you acknowledge your story, you may choose again. You can create a new experience by consciously choosing to adjust the beliefs you have about your life and who you are.

When you understand your story, you can see how these beliefs, experiences and cultures have constructed the patterns of relations between yourself and others. There’s a new freedom that rises when you recognize these patterns and choose again. We can start a new relationship with ourselves and shift direction, to a new beginning. One of the most powerful tools we have is learning to create disruptive shifts in our environment in order to tap our

untapped potential. If you start something new and your workspace still looks the same as it did yesterday, you’re making the new thing more difficult for yourself.

Instead, do something that announces to you at every minute of the day. Where I was before was THEN, this is where I am NOW; this is NEW. If you have an environment that gives you all the same signals that you’ve been receiving every single day, then you’re going to be pulled in by all the associations that are going in the same direction you’ve always gone. However, if you create a major shift, like changing your work environment, then the new work environment reminds you all day long that you’re doing something new.

If you go against existing habits, and you try to establish new habits that compete with them, old habits are always going to win the showdown because the new habits don’t have that much reinforcement.

The key is to create absolutely new habits in your brain and to connect neurons in a new way. Your brain is not limited in neurons. What you have, though, are a limited number of connections that you’ve used so many times that the grooves in your behavior are deeply worn. All of those existing connections lead back to the same habits that you’ve been pursuing.

So, if you’re going to dive into who you are to discover your full potential, then create a disruption in your environment or create disruptions in your routines. There are many ways to do that such as changing:

{1} When you get up in the morning{2} Your morning rituals{3} Your evening routines{4} Your work environment

Changing you work environment is particularly powerful. If you make a big enough disruption in your workspace, you’ll send new signals to your brain. Either it’s same old – same old, or it’s new, new, new.

Using this technique of disruptive shifts makes everything easier. It unlocks the doors when you’re embarking on something new and reminds you all the time of this new path. It is powerful, and there are many creative disruptions you can install in your life on a daily basis that will signal the new way. Do this, and you’re on your way to tapping more of your untapped potential.

The world needs truth and beauty, and your voice is a huge part of that. If you have silenced yourself, know that there is a way that you can share with liberation and joy. I’ve guided many students with authentic performance anxiety through this process, moving them from a state of total terror to feeling at home on stage. Transformation can happen faster than you can imagine. I’m not going to pretend it’s like flipping a switch, yet it’s work of the most inspiring kind. And the more you release into it, the quicker you’ll make the change.

In an age where we’re craving more openness and honesty, I can imagine few things as important as people coming out with their truth. If you find yourself afraid to speak, sing, dance or do your thing, know that this is a great sign that you have the energy and caring it takes to make a difference in the world.

I prepared most of my life to be a professional musician and had just entered college as a music major. But after years of this torture, I finally quit music completely. It seemed my dream was dead.

M Legacy for me came about after a bike accident I had where I smashed my face on the pavement. While I was riding to the emergency room, I was realizing “I’m the guy on camera. My family’s relying on me to keep making the money.” And so I started thinking about it, what happens if I’m not able to do my job? What am I leaving behind? Is it just going to be an insurance policy? Am I going to leave behind a lot of people who now need to have their services filled by someone else because I’m not there to help them? And so I started to focus on how can I duplicate myself, how can I have a bigger vision that’s beyond me? Instead of serving my needs, how can I serve other people’s needs?

I I love what you said. After one of my accidents I had the realization that I am an ancestor of future generations. My mind started thinking about my children, and so I made sure that if I died today, everything was taken care for.

MATTHEW Most people reading this are entrepreneurs and have businesses, like us. Many times we are looking to the end of the month. What are our end of the month numbers? What are we going to do this quarter? And we really don’t think long term. And recently, people have been talking about the L-word.

IVONNE Oh yeah, that L-word, it’s not love.

M What is it?

I Legacy. But they are pitching it, using it like a trend. Now people are starting to talk more about the future. In my niche that I serve, a lot of people don’t talk about the future because they think it’s all about the ‘power of now.’ We all are creating every moment from the now, but we are actually the builders of the future. Our ancestors created the future we are living in right now. We have a responsibility to create that L-word and to use it so powerfully that we don’t need to talk about it, we actually need to act on it.

I A lot of people plan for their death or their retirement. I like to plan for living and for the living of the next generation. Someone is going to watch you take that step, read that post you make, watch that film you create and it’s going to change their world. And that’s the big ‘why’ of why we’re living this legacy not tomorrow, not another day, but right now. I wrote a book 10 years ago and I still receive messages on how it’s saving marriages, people who are inspired to love or inspired to leave a legacy. When you start thinking bigger than you thought you could, you become a limitless mind. You begin to really leave a legacy of potential, of anything is possible. We are limitless people. If we don’t think big, who is going to think big for us?

M Well no one’s going to think big for us.

I No. And then we’re going to be living the dream of someone else.

M So when we talk about legacy and looking out 20, 40, 60, 100 years. When we do that it’s going to affect our communication right now because we’re no longer concerned with hitting that monthly sales goal or trying to impress certain people or thinking ‘I’ve got to buy this car or buy this house’ to impress certain people. That’s all nice but that’s not the legacy. The legacy is the effect that we have on our family, our community and our world. Our whole perspective shifts once we look out even 10 years. You’re now saying, “What am I going to do today that’s going to get me there in 10 years?” You’re not tempted to put out these marketing messages that are going to be in conflict with your 10 year goals.

I Exactly, this is about the legacy, the ripple effect we create with everything we do, who we are. What are you communicating? What are you leaving, in this moment, into the world?

M I think the other thing too is that people think they have to be gone to leave a legacy. You’re leaving a legacy with every contact you make with people; it is your presence, which has a ripple effect. You’re leaving a legacy with your communication, every tweet, every post, with every client you serve, through serving your families or significant others. All those things are part of a legacy. You don’t have to wait until you’re gone; you’re living your legacy every day.

I There’s a misunderstanding right now, people are confused between legacy and inheritance. Legacy is how we’re showing up on the media, how we’re showing up with our families, how present we are with the people we love, how authentic and willing we are to be aware and be responsible. We leave our footsteps for our future generations to follow. Not a will that states my legacy is a car, a house and that’s it. No, I want them to transcend, I want the legacy to be something that doesn’t even have to have my name.

M It’s not the stuff you leave behind.

I Also, it’s not about me, it removes me from the big picture we’re creating. It becomes a ‘we’, a humanity that is served, a state of business that can feed more families and provide a better living for everyone.

M It takes the focus off of you. It gives you something more outside of yourself.

You can choose to record your message with whomever you want. I’m not here to compete with

anyone. I’m not here to prove anyone wrong. Everyone delivers their own unique thing. But I can assure you that with me I won’t let your essence, your authenticity and your passion be diminished because those are the things that change lives forever.

I use to be one of those people who studied film, won an Academy Award and I went into video to make a life, to make a lifestyle and to feed my family. I’ve made a lot of videos, I know what it feels like to be in front of the camera, to be vulnerable and have that feeling of uncertainty, not knowing if I am going to succeed or not.

I can promise you that your essence, the purity of you and your company, of the product you want to deliver and your call to action will be done in such a way that there is no possible way that you will not be able to create results because your marketing and your media will become your life message.
