During the procession of bands, floats and dignitaries in celebration of the federation, 1901. A small boy by the name of Bobby never got to relax on that day but instead worked to help his parents out. At 5 o’clock, his work shift finished and he felt famished because his parents can’t more succulent food. So on his way home, he was thinking of all the different food he could eat.

He finally got home and finds that his mother is washing the clothes in the copper and his father asleep. He asks his mother, “what’s for supper?” she replies “there is 2 bread loaves on the table, dear” sounding exhausted.

After he had enough of bread, he felt extremely exhausted and fell asleep on the floor. Next day, he went to the local park to sit by the pond for some what he called relaxing time. When he finally approached his favourite tree, he took a deep breathe and he that started his relaxing state.

Suddenly he saw his best friends, Tepen and Chris. He shouted “hey, come over here.” So Sammy and Joseph ran as fast as they could to play with Bobby. They started playing climbing the tree pretended it was a battleship.

It was starting to get dark, so they decided to go back to their own homes for supper. On Bobby’s way home, he saw people of a darker skin than him. So he thought they had a disease and tried to not to be spotted by them. Next thing he sees is they were treated badly.

When he got home, he asks his father “father, what are those dark skinned people called?” he shout “they’re called Aboriginals, but some people call them names you’d never want to know.” On that note, he went to sleep without eating.

As soon as he woke up he ate the leftover bread from two days ago. Then left home to earn his money at the factory.

After his shift, he walked home. Suddenly, a pub brawl broke out onto the street and got bigger since it started. It was getting closer and closer to the Bobby. Before, Bobby could react he was inside the brawl getting badly hurt and the brawlers didn’t notice.

When the authority came they all ran away and left the Bobby for dead. The police came and found a badly injured child and didn’t know what to do. So they brought him to his parents and told them the news.

The mother and father were devastated to hear and see what happened to their only son. The officers gave their child to them. They held Bobby and cried. That night, his dad dug a hole as his mother held him in her arms and cried. He was then buried.
