Our St. Paul Parish and School Capital Campaign

continues with pledges coming in from many parishioners. We are grateful to all who have been able to make a pledge. We are also

grateful to those who have considered the Campaign but prayerfully decided their personal financial situation does not allow them to make a pledge at this time. We count on their prayers and hope in future years

they may be able to help.

Work on the school kitchen continues with most of the issues with the new hood now

resolved. We await the arrival of the new range and refrigerator and the

completion of the electrical wiring. The fire doors were all completed before

students arrived on Monday.

In September there will be a meeting with the PTO to present the overall financial picture of the school and to share with parents the state of the

Campaign. If we can raise the additional funds we will avoid the

scaled back version of the heating and cooling system.

Any questions about the Campaign can be directed to our Pastor,

Fr. Larry Dorsch (304-748-6710).

NNEWEW SSOUNDOUND SSYSTEMYSTEM 70% I70% INSTALLEDNSTALLED!!

About seventy percent of the new system is now in place, including new speakers in the rear of the church. You should already notice a difference. Once the whole system is complete we will

conduct a survey to see if further refinement needs to be made. Please hold negative evaluations until the whole system is complete!

“I urgently appeal, then, for a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet.

We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environmental challenge we are undergoing, and its human roots, concern and affect us all. The worldwide ecological movement has already made considerable progress and led to the establishment of numerous organizations committed to raising awareness of these challenges. Regrettably, many efforts to seek concrete

solutions to the environmental crisis have proved ineffective, not only because of powerful opposition but also because of a more general lack of interest. Obstructionist attitudes, even on the part of

believers, can range from denial of the problem to indifference, nonchalant resignation or blind confidence in technical solutions. We require a new and universal solidarity. As the bishops of Southern Africa have stated:

“Everyone’s talents and involvement are needed to redress the damage caused by human abuse of God’s creation”. All of us can cooperate as instruments of God for the care of creation, each according to his or her

own culture, experience, involvements and talents.”

This week: Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Times Joshua 24:1-2a,15-17,18b Ephesians 5:21-32 John 6:60-69

Background: This is the final installment of John’s Gospel Chapter 6 and it is the big finish. Some who have heard what Jesus has been saying cannot accept it and chose to walk away. When Jesus

confronted his Twelve apostles with this choice Peter, spoke for all of them, and made one of the great confessions of faith in all the Gospels. The same choice confronts disciples today. Some have chosen to walk away from Christ, finding his message too much for them. Other of us find that there

is nowhere else to go and find “the words of eternal life.”

Next Week: Deuteronomy 4:4:1-2,6-8 James 1:17-18, 21b-22,27 Mark 7:1-8,14-15,21-23

Adult Bible Study

the parish office conference room.

families a chance to service together. We will be announcing in coming weeks the tasks we’ll need to do and how many people will be needed. We will have a sign-up available as well.

Please watch for details.
