Joining the Paths Along Knitting Mill Creek by John Stewart
The buffer planting and pathway along Knitting Mill Creek are now
several years old. At the time, the members of the Civic League
voiced a desire to connect the pathway with the grass walkway bor-
dering the living shoreline that the City of Norfolk was to construct.
The time has come for that connection to be made.
Volunteers from the neighborhood and from the Lafayette Wet-
lands Partnership will install an additional 150’ of clamshell pathway
on October 16-17. The pathway will be approximately 5’ wide and
will be bordered on the street-side by a planting of low growing wet-

bution from the Civic League and a donation by Do Sun Im (Jason),

NEWSLETTER CARRIERS NEEDED! by Tobie Serafim
The monthly newsletter is hand-delivered to all homes in Riverview and Colonial Place and it takes an army of volunteers to make this happen. The carrier army is in need of a few more volunteers. The following routes are still available:
• 4800 to 5000 Blocks of Colonial Avenue • 4600 to 5100 Blocks of Newport Avenue • 700 Block of Rhode Island
Please contact me at [email protected] if you want to become a newsletter carrier. It is a great way to meet folks from the neighborhood and get a bit of exercise at the same time.
The Norfolk Police Department has a new online reporting option. In light of COVID, this is meant to minimize face to face contact between citizens and officers when reporting some crimes. Citizens can call this toll-
free number, 1-844-801-2190 to access the CopLogic Online Citizen’s Reporting Tool on your cell phone. Currently, the following incidents can be reported using this system: larceny, larceny from building, larceny from coin machine, larceny from vehicle, larceny of bicycle, obscene communications, shoplifting, tampering with auto, and vandalism. If you are involved in an incident, FILE A POLICE REPORT. If a police report is not filed, the police do not know about it and resources will be allocated elsewhere. You can file a police report ONLINE without having to wait for an officer to respond. Go to this website https://www.norfolk.gov/index.aspx?NID=3089 for more information and to file a police report. As always, report any suspicious crime or activity to the Norfolk Police. The nonemergency police number is 757-441-5610. If you see a crime in progress, call 911!
