SPAGHETTI DINNER FUND RAISER - SATURDAY, August 14, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Social Hall. This fund raiser is sponsored by The Men of St. Thérèse and the Ladies of St. Thérèse for a parishioner’s son who has just had a double lung transplant. Menu: Spaghetti, Salad, Bread, Iced Tea and Coffee. Tickets are $7.00; 3-5 tickets $6.00 per ticket. The Ladies of St. Thérèse will also have a bake sale with all their wonderful goodies!
AND THAT’S NOT ALL! Our Youth Ministry will also be having a “Car Wash” fund raiser. Drop you car off and it will be ready after you have had your Spaghetti Dinner.
PARKINSON'S PRESENTATION BY DR. KAREN THOMAS - SEPTEMBER 4, 2010
The Parkinson's Disease Support Group will host speaker Dr. Karen Thomas and her staff in the Social Hall here at St. Thérèse. Dr. Thomas is a Movement Disorder Neurology Specialist and will cover various topics within Parkinson's. LUNCH will be served at 12 noon in the Social Hall, and the presentation will begin at 1:00 pm. ALL ARE WELCOME. Seniors and caregivers are encouraged to attend. Please bring a friend. PLEASE CALL Barb Voelkel at 538-0655 or Jeanne Swindells at 484-8260 so that we will have an accurate count for lunch and the presentation.
OASIS BACK TO SCHOOL DONATIONS OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES: There are a great number of children in the Portsmouth/Chesapeake area whose parents can’t even begin to think about school supplies. We here in the family of St. Thérèse have a unique opportunity to help these children. If you can, please pick up any of the items listed below; or any of the items on the lists which are available at the entrances to many local department stores. Buy one thing – buy a dozen; each and every one is important. Then, each weekend during August please bring your gift(s) to the front during the Presentation of the Gifts and put them into the “school bus”. The last week of August these items will be taken to Oasis and then they will be distributed as needed. Suggested items: wide ruled paper, pencils, colored pencils, back packs, tissues (individual packs), hand sanitizer, black & white composition books, scissors, erasers, crayons, spiral notebooks, dictionaries, glue sticks. OVER 600 CHILDREN RECEIVED SCHOOL SUPPLIES LAST YEAR.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT OASIS SOCIAL MINISTRY for the thrift store to help sort clothing and household items. The hours we need volunteers are 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
