We are currently in the process of training leaders for 25 LIFEgroups. If you are interested in hosting a LIFEgroup then you will want to attend one of the trainings on either August 4 or 11, at 10:00 a.m. These trainings will help you understand the mission of LIFEgroups, the format of the meetings, how to handle childcare, and a variety of other topics. We will be launching a sermon series on August 19 entitled, “Why Small Groups?” This series will help us understand how LIFEgroups will not only provide an incredible amount of support and care to us as we navigate the heavy demands of life, but they will also be a place of deep friendship and faith development. During this 4-week series you will have the opportunity to sign up for a LIFEgroup that will begin on the week of September 16. All LIFEgroups will launch that week and continue for a 7-week series called, “Better Together”. During that time the LIFEgroups will be discussing each week the same topics as I am preaching about on Sunday morning. This will be an incredible time of unity and growth for our church. After the initial 7-week series is finished, LIFEgroups will continue on with a variety of curriculum of their choosing. I hope all of you will consider joining a LIFEgroup this fall. JUST TWO HOURS A WEEK … Two short hours … that’s all you’ll need. One to worship God … the other to plant a seed! Sow a tiny nugget in a child’s heart … Straight from God’s Word … what a fantastic start! Help with a class and soon you will see Your faith will grow with the kids … we think you’ll agree. The Children’s Sunday School fall quarter begins on August 26 and we’d love to have you come help with our “fall planting!” Like the tiny mustard seed, faith grows and grows … if it is planted deep in a heart, covered with care and watered with love. Then the Son will shine in and the seed will grow and grow and grow! Thank you for praying about giving an hour a week to help our toddlers-4th graders become little disciples! Club 56 Going to the Movies! 5th & 6th graders, mark your calendars for Sunday, August 19! “New” 5th graders … you are invited, too! Don’t plan for anything else for early afternoon ‘cause you are going to Marcus and see the new Disney film, “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” Parents, we’ll need a little help from you, too! You will receive more details on cost, when and where to meet, and food money soon! (Mark count-me-in beginning July 29 if you can go and, parents, if you can help … or contact Linda.)

Contact Linda Hottle, Children’s Education Coordinator, 837-3732 x150, or [email protected] if you would like more information about our Children’s Ministry, or if you can help out in any way.

Stephen Ministers bring distinctively Christian care to those in need. They use both words and deeds to express Christ’s care for others – listening and comforting, calling on the training they have received and employing the tools of faith. If this job description fits your personal goals for ministry, consider becoming a Stephen Minister. A training class is starting this September. To find out more about this ministry, please contact Barb Hanover at 837-6928 or Barb Parrot at 837-3732 or [email protected].

Thank You’s Ladies of Peace UMC,

Your kindness and love all came pouring out when you set-up Dad’s lunch, after his funeral. You all were a huge blessing to us. We can’t thank you all enough. We are so blessed to have such a great church family.

~All our love, Nick & Sarah Newton

My son and daughter and I wish to extend our greatest thanks to our wonderful Peace Family for the love and care extended to us after Bob’s death. There are so many of you to thank for music, funeral home visits, our Care Pastor Barb for her lovely service, the hospitality committee for all the food they prepared and just the general outpouring of love and caring. Bob’s death was sudden, unexpected but God took him in the way he wanted to go, no lingering or being a burden. He will be missed, but we know where he is! God is good!

~The Harding’s, Shirley, Bob & Sandy

Peace Family,

Just when I thought the beautiful service, the wonderful food, all the cards and expressions of sympathy and love after Bob’s death were an amazing gift, I received the prayer quilt which I will forever treasure. Thank you and God bless.

~Shirley Harding

The Powers’ Family was very surprised with the delivery of an “Edible Arrangement” from a Peace family. The delicious fruits were appreciated and enjoyed by all. Thank you for your thoughtfulness – your surprise was a blessing as are you.

S.W.A.T. NEWS

Students Witnessing About the Truth

August 2012

Jeff Kincaid, Youth Director, 614-837-3732, [email protected]

Thank you to all of our church family for your

love and support of our summer Work Camp. Thanks for all the food donations, sponsorships, tool loans, and prayers! Work Camp was a great success and filled with amazing moments of service, compassion, and God reaching our teens. Thank you all for your support to make Work Camp 2012 possible! We can’t wait to share with you all about our experience!

A very special thank you from our

youth group to all the adults that came along this year

for Work Camp. Thank you for sacrificing your time, your vacation, and your sanity to be leaders to our youth. They love you all and the example you set putting others first goes a long way. Be sure to keep an eye out for our teens at church and check in soon! Each of you is a tremendous blessings to our program! Work Camp Sunday will be August 12, at both

services. We will have pictures from camp, worship

lead by The Upper Room, and a service oriented message from Jeff. Come and be part of both services and share with our church family what amazing things you did through God. Be sure to wear your Work Camp shirts. Lots of volunteers are needed for ushering, scripture readings, and sharing. Talk to Jeff if you have any questions. Hope to see you there! Work Camp Reunion, August 12, 6:00-8:00

p.m. Time to get everyone together again for a cook out

at Jeff and Holly’s new place! We will have games, fellowship, and FOOD! Boys bring snacks and girls bring drinks. Jeff will grill out hotdogs. Guests are welcome! This is a great time to hear how you are keeping the fire alive and serving back home. Hope you can make it! More info to come! Youth Room Remodel We are continuing to work

hard on our new youth worship room. As we progress we will continue to ask for volunteers to help out. Thank you to all the youth and adult volunteers so far who have helped in the process and a very special thank you to Jeff Graber for his hard work as project manager. This will be a great space for our young people to experience God!

Youth LIFEgroups Our church will soon be starting a

small group movement called LIFEgroups, and the youth are going to be part of that! This is a very exciting and incredibly helpful resource for our teens. LIFEgroups allow teens a smaller, more personal atmosphere for sharing and growing as a community and in their walk with Christ. More information to come, so be on the look out! LIFEgroup Leaders Needed With the forming of the new LIFEgroups, we will need leaders to facilitate. There are no special requirements, we will provide the training and curriculum, all we ask is for you to have a heart for teenagers seeking out God’s will for them. We will meet twice a month and will be divided by grades and gender to allow more open and honest conversation within the group. We would like to be able to have leaders open up their homes or meet off campus to help create a comfortable atmosphere for the teens. Talk to Jeff if you may be interested or have any questions! Our Youth Event Schedule for the remainder

of 2012 will be released later in August. Be sure to check out all the fun events we have coming up as well as service opportunities. Our Weekly Bible Study will continue to meet through the summer. We combine Jr. and Sr. High Bible studies in the summer on Thursday Nights from 6:00-8:00 p.m. We will return to split sessions in September. Come for some snacks, laughs, and great discussion right out of the Bible. All Jr. & Sr. Higher’s are welcome!
