HOD Productions, Mannu Sandhu and Mannkind Charitable Society are holding the “I Said No” substance use awareness seminar for youth on Aug 16 from 3-5 p.m. at the City Centre Library, 10350 University Dr. The focus of

the seminar will be about substance abuse and body image, and will involve drugs such as anabolic steroids and marijuana. Participants – those between the ages of 16 and 24 – will be provided with “cool refusal skills” and ways to say no to drugs. Registration is required (on-site registration begins at 2 p.m.) Participants will also be invited for a screening of the feature fi lm Pseudo: Blood of Our Own at 6:30 p.m. at Empire Studio 12 Guildford (15051 101 Ave.) The fi ctional fi lm deals with real issues about street life, drug use and gang violence. Vancouver Pagan Pride Day, the Order of Scáthach, will take place Aug. 18. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Hawthorne Park, 10503 144 St. The Pagan Pride Project is a non-profi t organization fostering pride in Pagan religions and elimination of prejudice and discrimination based on religious beliefs through activism, charity and community. An India Day celebration will be held on Aug. 19 starting at 2 p.m. at The Laxmi Narayan Mandir, 8321 140 St. The day will mark the 65 anniversary of India’s independence.
