I Proudly Introduce to You..

Our Constitution is one of the many documents that helps America to identify itself against other nations of this world. It is our public display of the freedoms that we have, the laws that we try to follow, and the rights that we believe every person has. It is the thing that not only keeps our nation in check, but also helps influence other nations to follow as it is a positive example of how to lead a country. The U.S. Constitution is just one of the many things that give the U.S. recognition on a regular basis and that is because of what all it represents and entitles for and to the citizens of America.

• Further additions have been made throughout the years as political issues came about.

Or Perhaps by Whom...• James Madison from Virginia wrote the Constitution, however, a board

of leaders from the colonies, known as the Framers, all attended a meeting and cosigned the Constitution.

• The list is as follows; George Washington, John Langdon, Nicholas Gilman, Nathaniel Gorham, Rufus King, Samuel Johnson, Roger Sherman, Alexander Hamilton, William Livingston, David Brearley, William Paterson, Jonathan. Dayton, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Mifflin, Robert Morris, Geo. Clymer, Thos FitzSimons, Jared Ingersoll, James Wilson, Gouv Morris, Geo. Read, Gunning Bedford junior, John Dickinson, Richard Bassett, Jacob Broom, James McHenry, Dan of St Tho Jenifer, Daniel Carroll, John Blair, James Madison Jr., William Blount, Richard Dobbs Spaight, Hugh Williamson, J. Or Perhaps Why..The United States had just won the American Revolution which established their independence from Britain. However, after some time, people began to see that there wasn’t a stable, central from of government. If they were going to be an Independent country, they were going to act like one, so they needed a form of laws and regulations that would help stabilize the people. The Constitution filled that void and allowed for the nation to start on with their government system.

You May Wish for the Events Preceeding..

Prior to the U.S Constitution being written, the United States was going through some rough patches. What with the American Revolution (see top left), where America declared its independence from Britain, thus creating the Declaration of Independence (see middle left). America also just had to deal with Shay’s Rebellion in 1786 when farmers from New Hampshire to South Carolina take up arms for farms (see bottom left).

Or Perhaps Where…

Written in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the State House. They titled the meeting “The Convention” and this is what it is still known as today. The original Convention building still stands in Philidelphia, only today it is known as “Independence Hall.”

Maybe You are Dying to Know of the Historical Documents Involved..

The US Constitution was modeled after the Magna Carta (top left), the English Bill of Rights(top right), the Mayflower Compact(bottom left), the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut, the Declaration of Independence(bottom right), and the Articles of Confederation.

Or the Problems Solved..

The U.S. Constitution allowed for the idea of a centralized government to be legitimate. It caused the problem of not having a set of laws that everyone could follow. At the time the Constitution was written, the United States had just established its independence and was working to live up to that responsibility. The Constitution gave them more credit and recognition from other nations as well as national pride.

Or..the Limitations..Some limitations lie in the time period in which the Constitution was written. For example, some of the laws that applied to the culture back then no longer apply to today’s culture. Also, there are still some things within the Constitution that are somewhat unclear, such as the right to privacy. People think that since no where does it say we have the right that we don’t have that right, when in certain places it seems that that right is understood.

Thus, You Must Wish to Know the Possible Improvements..

If I were to improve the Constitution I would update it to this time so that the laws that are stated in the Constitution would apply to today. I might also add an Amendment on Abortion because I don’t believe that there is any justification for it, no matter the circumstance; I believe that aborting a child defies the right to life. I would also work to define what “ life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Or It’s Relevance..I still feel that the Constitution is relevant today but I don’t necessarily feel that it is followed as much as it once was. I feel that the government will do what they need to do despite when the Constitution says. Back when this was written it was a document that summed up the way U.S. citizens should be treated and the way they should treat their nation. However, some of the laws are not actually applicable to the culture of today.

Thus Concludes, Au Revoir!

The United States Constitution is an important document that gave our nation its start and it establishes the rights that we, as U.S. citizens have. This document stands for the freedom

that we as American Citizens have and I believe it is important to value it as such,

despite the limitations that it may have today.
