Introduction
The Audley Family described in this file consists of 4 separate
Audley families as follows: Family 1 :
This family is the family described in Chapter 14 of Audley
Pedigrees by A. L. Reade. It is hoped that thisfamily may be the
ancestors of one or more of the following Audley families AA; AB;
AC; AD. This family has a number of links with Liverpool as
follows:
o {T37} Augusta Audley was Married in Liverpool in 1813.o {T43}
Mary Audley three of her Children, Christened in Liverpool 1775 to
1780.
Family 2 : This family is the Illegitimate family of {T39}
William Audley, who is part of Family 1.
Family 3 & Family 4 : Ralph is a common Christian name in
Family 1 above. Also Families 3 & 4, contains information about
two Ralph Audley’s it is concluded that they must be part ofFamily
1 above
The spelling of the Audley surname appears to be flexible, and
spelling of the surname appears to have beeninterchangeable in some
cases with the surnames of Adley, Allday, Touchet, Tuchet, as an
example of variantspellings.

Julian Calendar
Wikipedia states:
In Anglo-Saxon England, the year most commonly began on 25th
December, which, as the WinterSolstice, had marked the start of the
year in pagan times, though the 25th March is
occasionallydocumented in the 11th Century. Sometimes the start of
the year was reckoned as 24th September, the start of the so-called
"WesternIndiction" introduced by The Venerable Bede. [672 – 735AD].
These practices changed after theNorman Conquest. From 1087 to 1155
the English year began on the 1st January, and from 1155 to 1751 on
the 25 thMarch. In 1752 it was moved back to the 1st January
The implications of this are that in the ‘Julian Calendar’ year
January, February and the first 25days of March were of the same
year as the previous December

Simple Family Trees.
Family 1 of Audley Staffordshire & Nantwich, Cheshire
(Comment about the Touchet family include the following:-;'Tuchet,
from Notre-Dame-du-Touchet, near Montaine in Normandy, France. This
family was seated at Buglawton and Tattenhall in Cheshire, shortly
after the Norman Conquest.{ZT18} Sir John Touchet, who married the
eldest Daughter, {ZA14} Joan de Aldithley (1331? – 1392), and
Co-Heiress of Lord Audley in the reign of Edward III and the
Baronydescended to {ZT18} Sir John Touchet's second Son, {ZC2} Sir
John Touchet, Knight, (4th LORD AUDLEY OF HELEIGH)(See:- ‘Family
ZC’ Narrative of the Baron’s Audley).
The simplified family tree below in italic text; shows a
possible relationship between {ZC3} and {T96} and {T20}. Family
Tree information has been taken from a manuscriptamongst
‘unpublished’ documents titled ‘Topography of Cheshire’ by J
Watson, a Vicar living in Stockport prior to his Death in 1783, and
these documents are archived at the‘Bodleian Library’, Oxford. The
information appears to be contained on page 29 of the above
document. We have difficulties with this information as {Z37} Died
in 1459 and {T20}Died in 1588. This means {ZC3} & {T20} Died
130 years apart. It does not appear possible for two generations to
span 130 years Could the Grand Father of {T20} have been{ZC5} Sir
James Touchet who Died 1497? (Further investigation needed
here.)
(Tag references prefixed “ZA” “ZC” & “ZT”can be found in
fuller detail in the Barons Audley narratives on this website.{ZC3}
