•Who Would be the audience for your media?

•How did you attract/address your audience?

I have recorded an interview that answers the question how did you attract/ address your audience. It is located on a YouTube clip that has been embedded on the next slide.

Page 2: Audience research

After asking 20 people a questionnaire that I had compiled qualitative and

quantitative questions, I collected my results.

Page 3: Audience research

I had to understand what they thought of social realism, this is so that I could address them when it

came to viewing it to my audience.

Page 4: Audience research

I also asked them aspects of everyday life, such as themes and issues which

might move them.

Page 5: Audience research

I asked them those questions as they are parts of vital research information in the

development of my film.

Page 6: Audience research

Qualitative questions provides opened answers which peoples

ideas and opinions can be addressed.

Page 7: Audience research

Quantitative research is information gathered from closed questions, in which the sample of people asked has to give a direct

answer such as yes or no.

Results of questions

about social realism:

Page 9: Audience research

What do you understand of social realism?

13/20 people responded by giving a definition that social realism is a film that tries to portray aspects of real life.

Page 10: Audience research

Do you know of any social realism films? This was an interesting results as 2/5 of

the people questioned didn’t know any films of this genre but did have the understanding of what it was about.

Page 11: Audience research

The people that had some idea of some social realism films they mentioned films such as ‘This is England’, ‘Nil by Mouth’, ‘Kidulthood and Adulthood’ and also ‘Half Nelson’.

Page 12: Audience research

What do you expect from a social realism film?

Most people concluded that they what to see everyday situations that they might have encountered at some point in their life, and for it to be truthful but emotional in the aspect that it might bring back memories they don’t want to remember.

Page 13: Audience research

I asked the 20 people, do you think that your own personal experiences influenced your perspection on these

kind of films?

Page 14: Audience research

8 people responded by saying yes many aspects of a film they can relate too.

Page 15: Audience research

Another 8 people said that they don’t get affected by films maybe this is because they cant address these issues as they haven't experienced them.

Page 16: Audience research

The last 4 people said they weren't sure if they had ever been influenced of affected by them or not.

How do you feel the pressure on students should be handled?

The sample of people who answered my questionnaire responded to this question by saying that if students talked to the

teachers to try and come up with a solution on getting their work in on time

would be helpful.

Page 22: Audience research

They also said that they think they should be given less work and maybe have exams spread out more that way they have more time to revise for the subject.

Page 23: Audience research

The people that answered my questionnaire are in theory a

small group of the niche audience that I’m trying to attract for my

film.

Page 24: Audience research

In order to please them and the wider population I have to

consider every aspect that has been addressed within the

questionnaire. Also I have to ensure that my overall film is

keep to the ideological view of the world in modern day society

without creating stereotypes.
