Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds.

It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

Simple GUI allows for easy to use by students and adults alike.

Click the button with the small red circle when you are ready to

record audio

Page 3: Audacity Basics

Click the button with the two blue vertical lines to pause during recording. To begin

recording again press pause a second time.

Click the button with the green triangle to listen to a playback of

the recording

Use the Selection Tool Button to delete

portions the audio Highlight the area you wish to delete.

Use the backspace or delete button to

remove.

Export the recording as an mp3 file

Save the file on your flash drive, network drive or hard drive

You MUST download the LAME Encoder to export as an mp3. Locate where the

lame3.dll is located.
