Automated Teller Machine

An automated teller machine (ATM) is

❏ Made money transactions easy for

customers to bank 24 hours of time.

❏ Device that provides the customers of a

financial transactions in a public space

without the need for a human clerk or bank

teller.

❏ Security requiring combination Physical

access card+Password(PIN)

❏ With the advent of ATM through banking became a

lot easier it even became a lot vulnerable

❏ It invites fraudulent attempt through stolen cards,

badly-chosen or automatically-assigned PINs,and

other failures

❏ There is urgent need for improving security in

Banking region

❏ By forcing the ATM to matching a live image of a

customer’s face with an image stored in bank

database that is associated with the bank account

number, the damage to be caused by stolen cards

and PINs are effectively neutralized

❏ Only when the PIN matches the account and the

live image and stored image match ,would a user

be considerably fully verified

Personal Identification Number

(PIN)❏ PIN is one method used by banks

and phone companies to protect

your account from unauthorized

access

❏ PIN is a confidential code issued

to the cardholder to permit access

to that account

❏ But also the chances of misuse of

this PIN are manifold due to the

exponential growth of 'intelligent'

criminals day by day

Drawbacks of PIN

❏ The PIN does not prove the identification of the

cardholder

❏ People write PINs and disclose to others increasing the

risk of fraud; and PINs can be stolen by observation

❏ ATM systems today use no more than an access card

and PIN for identity verification access card

❏ There is an urgent need for improving security in

banking region.

❏ So we need more security confirmation in ATMs

contains 2 sheets of paper

required – leads to cutting of trees
