    The Automated Teller

    Machine is a computerised

    telecommunications device

    that provides a financial

    institution with access to financialtransactions in public space without the

    need of a cashier, human clerk or a bank

    teller.

    George Simjian in 1939.

    City Bank of New York installs one of his ATMs for a sixmonth trial.
