Kiryu ran 10.01 seconds in the men's 100 meters, a new Japan junior record, at Oda Memorial meet in his high school senior year in 2013. He finished fourth, failing to qualify through heat at worlds but helped Japan team to make sixth-place finish in the 4x100 relay as its first runner in the same year. Kiryu holds the national high school record in 200 with a mark of 20.41 as well. This year, Kiryu tied for the Japan collegiate record of 10.05 seconds in a win at Kanto inter-collegiatemeet, while he helped Japan to finish fifth as a third runner at the World Relays. In June, he became the winner in the men's 100 and earned the bronze medal in 100 at world junior inJuly.

高校３年時の13年、織田記念100ｍで日本歴代２位、ジュニア日本新の10秒01をマーク。世界選手権では100ｍこそ予選４着で敗退したが、４×100ｍＲの１走として６位に入賞した。200ｍでも20秒41の高校記録を持つ。今季は関東インカレ100ｍを日本学生タイの10秒05で制覇。世界リレーは日本の３走を務め、５位入賞。日本選手権100ｍで優勝を果たすと、世界ジュニアでは100ｍで日本人初の銅メダルを手にした。

Yamagata was fourth in the men's 100 and won a bronzemedal in the medley relay at world youth in his second high school year. In the third year, he ran 10.30 for the nationalhigh school fifth-best record. Yamagata ran 10.23 at nationalathletic meet, setting a new Japan junior record for the first time in 17 years in his college freshman season. In 2012, hefinished third at nationals and made the Olympic squad. At the London Games, he clocked 10.07 for Japan's then-fourthbest record in a heat and advanced to the semifinal round.Yamagata grabbed his first title at nationals with a time of 10.11 while he ran 10.21 for a silver medal in the Universiade last year. He finished runner-up at nationals this year.

Iizuka clocked Japan's third-best ever record of 20.21 in the men's 200 at Shizuoka International, while he earned his first national championship title, won a bronze medal at Universiade and advanced to the semis in his world championship debut in '13. He helped Japan to finish fifth inthe 4x100 relay at the World Relays and was third at nationals this year. Iizuka grabbed titles in 200 at the inter-high school meets and in 100 at the national athletic meet inhis high school senior year. He became Japan's first-ever gold medalist with a 200 win with a time of 20.67 at the '10 world junior championships in his freshman season at ChuoUniversity. He competed in the London Olympics in '12,

Since he first earned a national championship title in '05 in hishigh school senior year, Kanamaru's won 10 consecutive times in the annual tourney and that's the record for any track event in Japan. He set a high school record of 45.47 in '05. In '09, Kanamaru ran for a personal best of 45.16, Japan's fourth-best time ever, while he became the first Japanese runner towin a gold medal at the Universiade. At the '10 Asian Games,he finished second with a time of 45.32. At '11 worlds, he advanced to the semis for the first time for himself and first time in six years for a Japanese athlete. Kanamaru made it tothe semis for the second time in a row at worlds last year.

高校３年時の05年に日本選手権を初制覇、今年、トラック競技での史上最多となる10連覇の偉業を成し遂げた。05年には45秒47の高校記録を樹立。法大４年時の09年には、日本歴代４位となる45秒16の自己新。ユニバーシアードで日本人初の金メダルを獲得した。10年のアジア大会は45秒32で銀メダル。11年世界選手権では自身初、日本人選手としても６年ぶりの準決勝進出。昨年の世界選手権では、２大会連続で準決勝に進んだ。

Hara ran 20.49 in a men's 200 heat at the Shizuoka International in May, finished runner-up in 10.39 in 100 and completed a consecutive title in 200 with a time of 20.41 at the Kanto inter-collegiate meet second division this year. Hesurprised others by winning his first national championship title in 200 in June, clinching an Asian Games berth. Hara didn't qualify through a heat in 200 at the inter-high school meet and advanced to as far as the semifinals in 100 in his high school senior season, but blossomed as he enrolled at Jobu University. He began running under 21 seconds in his third year, as he finished second in 100 and won in 200 at Kanto inter-collegiate second division.

今年５月の静岡国際200ｍ予選で20秒49の快走を見せると、関東インカレ２部100ｍでは10秒39の自己新で２位、200ｍは学生歴代７位タイの20秒41で連覇を達成。６月の日本選手権200ｍでは殊勲の初優勝で、アジア大会代表入りを決めた。高校では３年時にインターハイ200ｍ予選落ち、国体の100ｍでも準決勝止まりだったが、上武大で開花。３年時には200ｍ20秒台に入り、関東インカレ２部で100ｍ２位、200ｍ優勝を果たした。

Kato tackled athletics seriously in high school and came through in 400-meter dash. He notched a 47.08 mark, which was then the 10th-best record for a high school second year runner, while he finished third at the inter-high school meet and sixth at the national athletic meet. He triumphed at theinter-high school meet with a new tournament record of 46.11while he collected another title in the 4x400 relay in his senior season. Kato also took titles at the national athletic meet and Japan junior in the fall, and ran 45.69, Japan's second-best high school record, in November in the same year. This year, hegrabbed a title at the Kanto inter-collegiate meet and fourth at nationals, while he achieved a feat to win a silver medal, which was the first-ever one for Japan, with a 46.17 mark at world junior and earned another silver in the 4x400 relay.

高校で本格的に陸上を始め、400ｍで頭角を現した。２年時に当時高２歴代10位の47秒08をマーク、インターハイ３位、国体６位。３年時のインターハイでは46秒11の大会新記録で優勝、４×400ｍＲとの２冠を手にした。秋には国体と日本ジュニアを制し、11月に高校歴代２位となる45秒69の快走。今季は関東インカレで優勝、日本選手権４位。世界ジュニアでは、46秒17で日本史上初の銀メダル、４×400ｍＲも銀メダルを獲得した。

Takase earned a 400 title at the Kanto inter-collegiate meet and fifth at nationals in his senior season at JuntendoUniversity in '10. In his second year as a corporate clubrunner in '12, he earned his first national championship title in 200 with a time of 20.42 and advanced to the semis at the London Olympics. He set a personal best of 10.23 in 100 inApril and won a bronze medal in 200 at the Asianchampionships last year. He failed to qualify through a heat but helped his Japan team to finish sixth in the 4x100 relay asits third runner at worlds also in '13. This year, Takase ran 20.34 for Japan's sixth-best record of all time and runner-up at nationals.

Fujimitsu competed at the world youth in his second year inhigh school in '03. He earned a gold medal in 200 at the Asian championships as college junior in '07. Fujimitsu finishedthird and clinched his first berth at the world championships, where he qualified through the first round in 200 and helped Japan's 4x100 relay team finish fifth as its anchor, in '09. At the '10 national championships, he won in 20.38, then Japan's sixth-best record while he grabbed a silver medal at Asiad in the same year. In '13, Fujimitsu competed at world for thefirst time in two tournaments and guided the 4x100 relay team to a sixth-place finish. He was fourth at nationals this year.

Takahira has been a specialist as a third runner for a 4x100relay since he was 20 years old, and helped Japan earn five top-eight finishes at world games, starting in the '04 Athens Olympics. In 200, Takahira has advanced to the second rounds for three times and to the semifinals twice at Olympics and worlds. He earned a gold medal at the '05 Universiade andbronze at the '06 Asian Games. In '09, he ran in 20.22 for Japan's third-best record of all time. With colorful experienceat big international stages, Takahira provides energy to therelay team.

20歳から日本代表４×100mＲの３走のスペシャリストとして活躍し、04年アテネ五輪から12年ロンドン五輪まで、世界大会５度の入賞に貢献してきた。200mでは五輪・世界選手権の２次予選へ３度、準決勝へ２度進んでいる。05年ユニバーシアードで金メダル、06年アジア大会で銅メダルを獲得。09年には、日本歴代３位となる20秒22をマークしている。大舞台での豊富な経験が、日本のリレーチームに力を与える。

Kawamoto also renewed a national junior record with a 1:46.89, advanced to the semifinals at world junior and earned a Japan inter-collegiate title in his sophomore year in '12. He proceeded to the semis at theUniversiade and won gold at the East Asian Games last year. He's run under 48 seconds in 400 as well.

Hemade top-eight finishes in two different events at theUniversiade in his freshman year at Tokai University. In '11, Sato finished runner-up in 5,000 and earned a 10,000 title at nationals. Since then, he's won in 10,000 at nationals four yearsin a row. He seized his first 5,000 title this year. He competedin 10,000 at '11 worlds, in 5,000 and 10,000 at '12 LondonOlympics, and in 5,000 and 10,000 at '13 worlds.

Murayama didn't have any top-eight finishes at inter-highs and national athletic meets, but he posted a 14:04.18 mark in 5,000 in his senior season in high school. He entered sub-14 minutes in 5,000 and sub-29 minutes in 10,000 at college, whilehe finished runner-up in 5,000 at Asia junior and 11th in 5,000 at world junior as a sophomore. In his senior season this year, Murayama set a personal record in 5,000 with a 13:38.87 mark in May, while he finished fifth in 5,000 and grabbed his first 10,000 title at the Kanto inter-collegiate meet. He made his first top-eight finish at nationals in 5,000. As his twin older brother Kenta (Komazawa Univ.), Murayama is reputed for his speed.

高校ではインターハイ、国体での入賞経験はないが、5000ｍは３年時に14分04秒18で走っている。大学では１年で5000ｍ13分台、10000ｍ28分台に入り、２年時にはアジアジュニア5000ｍ２位、世界ジュニア5000ｍ11位。４年目の今季は５月に5000ｍで13分38秒87の自己新、関東インカレは5000ｍ５位、10000ｍで初優勝を手にした。日本選手権では5000ｍ２位に初入賞。双子の兄・謙太（駒大）とともに、スピードには定評がある。

Osako set a Japanese collegiate record of 27:38.31 in 10,000 last year's April while he finished 21st at worlds and ran in 13:20.80 in 5,000 for Japan's sixth-best record in November. In his first year as a corporate club runner, he finished runner-up for the third consecutive year at nationals. In his high school senior season, he notched a fastest time in the first section of the national high school ekiden. At Waseda University, Osako finished eighth in 10,000 at worlds and set Japan's junior half marathon record of 1:01:47 in his freshman year in '10. At the Universiade in his sophomore season,Osako became the fourth Japanese to win a gold medal, first in 16 years.

Matsumura was fourth, the top Japanese finisher, in hismarathon debut at '12 Beppu Oita. He came up with a descent performance with a 2:10:12 mark in his second race at the '13 Lake Biwa International. He ran in 2:08:09 for the eighth place, being the top Japanese finisher, at this year's Tokyo marathon. Matsumura was 13th in the fifth section in the national high school ekiden in his senior season. At Yamanashi Gakuin University, he showed a fine performance,finishing fourth in the first sections of the national collegiate ekiden and Hakone ekiden in his senior year, in which he wasthe team's captain. He set personal bests with a 28:27.04 mark in the 10,000 and a 13:48.14 mark in the 5,000 last year.

初マラソンの12年別大で、日本人トップの４位。２戦目の13年びわ湖では、２時間10分12秒の好タイム。そして３戦目となった今年の東京では、２時間08分09秒をマークして日本人トップの８位に入った。高校３年時に、都道府県駅伝５区13位。山梨学大では、主将を務めた４年時に全日本大学駅伝、箱根駅伝でともに１区４位と好走した。昨年は10000ｍで28分27秒04、今季は5000ｍ13分48秒14と自己記録を更新した。

Kawauchi competed in the Hakone ekiden as a member of Kanto selective teams twice when he was at GakushuinUniversity. He finished third, being a top Japanese finisher,with a 2:08:37 mark at the '11 Tokyo marathon while he was18th at worlds in his second year after his graduation. He triumphed in the '13 Beppu Oita marathon with a personalbest of 2:08:15. He finished 18th at worlds, ran in 2:09:05 at Fukuoka international and 2:09:15 at Hofu marathon in December of '13. He notched his seventh time to run under 2:10:00 and it is the most done by a Japanese runner.

学習院大時代に関東学連選抜のメンバーとして、箱根駅伝６区に２度出場。社会人２年目の11年東京マラソンでは、２時間08分37秒で日本人トップの３位。世界選手権で18位に入った。13年の別大マラソンでは２時間08分15秒の自己新で優勝。世界選手権は18位。同年12月には福岡マラソンで２時間09分05秒、防府マラソンで２時間09分15秒と、２週間でサブテンを２回達成。今年でサブテンは通算７回となり、日本人史上最多。

Shinoto came through at Chuo University. He grabbed a 3,000SC title at the Japan inter-collegiate meet in his second season and earned his Japan national championship title with Japan'sthen 10th-best record of 8:33.44 in his junior year. He began shining in the road. He set a stunning section record of 1:08:01in the ninth section at the Hakone ekiden, guiding his team to a third-place finish and being awarded the MVP inhis senior year. Shinoto then was hired by Sanyo SpecialSteel, Co. Ltd. He set a personal best for the first time inseven years with a time of 8:32.89 in April last year. He grabbed his first national championship title in eight years this year.

中央学院大で力を付け、２年で日本インカレ3000ｍＳＣ優勝。３年時の日本選手権では、当時日本歴代10位の８分33秒44で初制覇を果たした。４年時にはロードで活躍。箱根駅伝９区では、１時間08分01秒と圧巻の区間新をマーク。チームを史上最高の総合３位に導き、ＭＶＰを受賞した。山陽特殊製鋼に入社し、昨年４月には８分32秒89と７年ぶりに自己記録を更新。今年の日本選手権で８年ぶりに優勝した。

Having been on fire this season, Masuno set a personal best of 13.61 at May's Mito International, won in 110H (tie) at theKanto inter-collegiate meet and grabbed his first nationalchampionship title tying for Japan's sixth-bet record of 13.58,which was also the nation's fourth-best collegiate time. In his high school senior season, he won at the inter-high school meet and was runner-up with then Japan's ninth-best highschool record of 14.12. At International Budo University, he ran 13.92 at the national athletic meet, tying for Japan's third-best junior mark in his freshman year. Masuno clocked 13.77in a heat and finished sixth with a time of 13.78 in the final at nationals and was second at the Japan inter-collegiate meet in his second season.

今季は絶好調で、５月の水戸国際で13秒61の自己新。関東インカレ110ｍＨでは同着での優勝。日本選手権では、日本歴代６位タイ、学生歴代４位の13秒58で初優勝を果たした。高校３年時の11年にインターハイ優勝、日本ジュニアで当時高校歴代９位の14秒12で２位。国武大１年時の国体では、ジュニア歴代３位タイの13秒92をマークした。２年時には日本選手権予選で13秒77、決勝は13秒78で６位、日本インカレで２位に入った。

Heearned his first national championship title, won a silver medal at the Universiade and advanced to the semis at worlds in his junior season in '11. He won at nationals for the secondstraight year, marking Japan's fifth-best record of 48.41, but disqualified in a heat at the London Olympics in '12. Kishimotoqualified through a heat but disqualified in the semifinals at worlds in '13. He completed a fourth consecutive title at nationals this year, the second longest streak in the event ever.

Tobe cleared 2.31 meters, which tied for the third-best record of Japan and just two centimeters below the national record, in May. He was settled for the third place at nationals, but had a 2.30 leap in the Diamond League (Monaco International)in July. He triumphed at the national junior high school championships, earned an inter-high school meet title and set a national high school record of 2.23 at the national athleticmeet in his senior season. At Tsukuba University, Tobe won a bronze medal at world junior in '10. He finished second at nationals, was ninth at the Universiade and completed a back-to-back title with a 2.28 mark at the Japan inter-collegiatemeet in his senior season last year.

Eto finished third at the inter-high school meet and won at the national athletic meet in his senior season in '08. Hecompeted at the world junior in '10. In '11, Eto was a runner-up at nationals and was fourth as a top Japanese finisher witha 2.24-meter mark at the Asian championships while hegrabbed his first Japan inter-collegiate meet title. As a graduate student, he finished runner-up at nationals, seventh at the Asian championships, and earned a championship witha personal best of 2.27 in '13. Eto had a 2.28 mark, tying for Japan's sixth-best record of all time, in May, and grabbed his first national championship title with a 2.23 mark this year.

Yamamoto finished sixth at the inter-high school meet andsecond at the national athletic meet in his senior season. He made an impressive development and earned his first national championship title while he competed at the London Olympics in his junior year in '12. In '13, Yamamoto marked 5.71 for a new Japan national indoor record in February, 5.74 at the Tokai inter-collegiate meet, and 5.75 renewing his ownnational collegiate record at the Japan collegiate individualchampionships. He also completed a consecutive title and earned a silver medal at the Universiade in the same year. Inhis first world championships in '13, Yamamoto finished sixth with a 5.75 mark, tying for his personal best.

Having cleared a then national high school record of 5.40 in his senior season, Sawano notched a 5.50 mark for a national junior record and grabbed his first national championship title as a freshman at Nihon University. He set a then nationalcollegiate record of 5.52 in his junior year. Sawano leaped 5.83to break the national record while he finished eighth at worlds in '05. He was a runner-up at the World Cup and became the first Japanese to win a gold medal at the Asian Games in 24 years in '06. He advanced to the finals for his third time at the '11 world championships. Sawano cleared 5.70 in April and grabbed his 10th national championships, first time in three years, this year.

Yamamoto triumphed with a new tournament record of 15.79meters in triple jump while he was fifth in long jump at the inter-high school meet in his senior season last year. He alsowon with a 16.10 mark, first 16-meter jump ever for a high school athlete in Japan, at the fall national athletic meet and earned a title in the same event at the Japan junior championship, completing high school treble crowns, in '13.This year, Yamamoto notched a 16.16 mark (wind-aided) whilehe officially had his first 16-meter jump, with a 16.02 mark towin as a freshman at the Kanto inter-collegiate meet. He was 10th in his first national championship in June and finishedseventh with a 15.89 mark at July's world junior. Yamamotohas personal bests of 2.02 for high jump and 7.35 for long jump as well.

Arai threw for 85.48 meters, Japan's third-best record of all time, at April's Oda Memorial, and earned his first national championship title with a 81.97 mark in June this year. Hewas fourth at the inter-high school meet, third at the nationalathletic meet and fifth at the Japan junior in his senior season.Arai made a huge progress in his sophomore season at Kokushikan University and finished fourth with a 78.21 markat nationals. As a junior, he was third at nationals and grabbed his first tile at the Japan inter-collegiate meet. In '13, he finished fourth at nationals and eighth at the Universiade,notched a 78.19 mark in July, while he finished runner-ups in both Japan inter-collegiate meet and national athletic meet.

Murakami completed consecutive titles at the inter-high school meet in his junior and senior seasons, while he alsotriumphed in discus throw as a senior. He earned a bronze medal at the world junior in '98 in his freshman year at NihonUniversity. He achieved a feat to win a bronze medal at worlds in '09, becoming the second Japanese senior medalist in a throwing event at a world stage. Murakami earned a gold medal at the '10 Asian Games. Last year, he notched a 85.96, Japan's second-best record in April while he regained a titleat nationals and competed at worlds for his fifth time. He's thrown as far as 80.43 of April.

A runner-up finisher in the octathlon at the inter-high school meet, Ushiro made a third-place finish in the decathlon at thenational championship and triumphed at the Japan inter-collegiate meet in his senior year at Kokushikan University.In his second year as a graduate student in '10, he grabbedhis first national championship title and finished fourth at the Asian Games. He racked up 8,073 points, becoming the first Japanese to break the 8,000-point barrier and was 20th in hisfirst world championship attempt in '11. Ushiro became the first Japanese to compete in the decathlon in the Olympics in48 years in '12. At this year's national championship, Ushiro completed his fifth straight national championship title with8,308 points, easily renewing his own national record, thisyear.

Nakamura triumphed in the octathlon at the inter-high school meet with a national high school record of 5,900 points in hissenior season. He moved to decathlon at Chukyo Universityand earned a silver medal at the Asian championships in hisjunior year in '11. In '12, he finished second with 7,710 points at the Japan combined championship, and came up with a second-place finish with a 49.38 mark in 400H a week later toclinch a berth for the London Olympics. Nakamura grabbed a silver medal for the second consecutive Asian championships in '13. This year, he was a runner-up with 8,035 points for Japan's second-best record of all time at the Japan combinedand also second in 400H at nationals in the following week.

高校３年のインターハイ八種競技では、当時の高校記録5900点で優勝。中京大進学後は十種競技に取り組み、３年時の11年にアジア選手権で銀メダル。12年の日本選手権混成では7710点で２位。１週間後には400ｍＨで日本選手権２位。49秒38をマークして、ロンドン五輪に出場した。13年のアジア選手権は、２大会連続で銀メダル。今年の日本選手権混成では、日本歴代２位の8035点で２位。日本選手権400ｍＨでも２位に入った。

Suzuki consecutively set national records in 20-km walking race as he notched 1:19:02 in February's national championship and 1:18:34 in Nomi in March last year. He thenrenewed it to 1:18:17 at this year's national championship.Suzuki set national junior high school records in 3,000-meter walk, 3-km walk, and 5,000-meter walk. He won in 5,000 walkat an inter-high school meet and earned a bronze medal at a world youth. At Juntendo University, he grabbed a bronze medal in 10,000-meter walk at the '06 world junior and wasfourth in the 20-km walk at the '07 Universiade. Suzuki madean eighth-place finish in the 20-km walk at the '11 worldchampionships.

13年２月の日本選手権20kmＷで１時間19分02秒、３月の能美で１時間18分34秒と日本新を連発。今年の日本選手権でも１時間18分17秒と、自身の持つ日本記録を塗り替えた。中学で3000ｍＷと３kmＷ、5000ｍＷの中学最高記録を樹立。高校ではインターハイ5000ｍＷ優勝、10000ｍＷで世界ユース３位。順大では06年世界ジュニア10000ｍＷで銅メダル、07年ユニバーシアード20kmＷ４位。11年世界選手権20kmＷでは８位入賞を果たした。

Takahashi finished fifth in the 5,000-meter walk at the national athletic meet in his high school second-year season, and hewas fourth both at the inter-high school meet and national athletic meet in his senior year. He finished third in the 10,000-meter walk at the Japan inter-collegiate meet andmarked 19:42:35 for a personal best in his sophomore season. In '13, Takahashi was fourth in the 20-km walk at the nationalchampionship, won at the Japan collegiate walking race meet, was ninth at the Universiade and second in 10,000-meter walkat the Japan inter-collegiate meet. He also set a national record with a 39:06.87 mark in December in the same year.Takahashi finished runner-up with a 1:18.41, which wasJapan's second-best record and a new collegiate record, in February's national championships.

Tanii won a bronze medal in the 10,000-meter walk at the world youth and triumphed in the 5,000-meter walk at theinter-high school meet in his high school second-year season.He made a seventh-place finish in the 10,000-meter walk at the world junior in his sophomore year. He set a then nationalrecord of 3:47:54 in his 50-km walk debut in '03, and improved it to 3:47:23 in '06. He finished second with a 3:43:56 mark, his new personal best, but he ended up retiring at the London Olympics in '12. Tanii won at nationals in '13 and '14. He'scompeted at worlds for five times, finishing ninth in '11 and'13.

Yamazaki stunned people as he set national high school records in 5000-meter walk (19:35.79) and 20-km walk (1:20:43) in his senior year. He began a 50-km walk from '04 and became the first Japanese race walker to have a top-eight finish (eighth) in eight years at worlds in '05. He was the first top-eighth finisher at an Olympics in the 50-km walk with a seventh-place finish in the '08 Beijing Games. He set a nationalrecord with a 3:40:12 mark at the '09 national championships. Yamazaki had some blank period dues to injuries, but took a title at nationals in '12. He was runner-up at nationals and regained a spot on the national team this year.

高校３年時に5000ｍＷで19分35秒79、20kmＷ１時間20分43秒と、驚異的な高校記録を樹立。04年から50kmＷを始め、05年の世界選手権で日本人選手として８年ぶりに８位に入賞した。08年の北京五輪では、50kmＷで日本初となる７位入賞を果たした。09年日本選手権では、３時間40分12秒の日本新をマーク。その後は故障でブランクがあったが、12年の日本選手権で優勝。今年の日本選手権では２位に入り、日本代表に復活した。
