THE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF JETSUN DRAKPA GYALTSEN
There was a very special gathering to celebrate the 800th
Anniversary of Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen, the third founder of the
Great Sakyapa Order in Tibetan Buddhism. His Holiness the Sakya
Trizin encouraged all the Sakya Centres around the world to hold
special prayer gatherings for the spread of the teachings on the
most auspicious date of 20 March 2016.
In accordance with His Holiness 'wishes at Drogmi Buddhist
Institute Sydney, Guru Yoga Puja was completed. The puja was lead
by DBI President Jack, which included the reading of the biography
of Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen taken from His Holiness the Sakya
Trizin’s website, as a guided meditation, followed by the Guru Yoga
Puja.
Recitations of Verses of Praises to Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen,
multiple prayers to the Guru and the Long Life Prayers were
conducted.
There is much more information on His Holiness’ website page
regarding Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen:

WESAK - SAGA DAWA DUCHEN PROGRAM & PRACTICES
Saga Dawa is the fourth month of the Tibetan calendar, and is
the holiest time of the year for Tibetan Buddhists. On the full
moon day, this year on 21 May, is the most important. On that day
fruits of one’s karma are said to increase one billion times or
more. It is on this day that Tibetan Buddhists celebrate the
Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and passing (Parinirvana), known as
Saga Dawa Duchen. During this month, it is an excellent time to
practice Dharma and make many offerings to the shrine. Khenpo la
does recommend one to be vegetarian as much as possible during this
time. Please see the program for Saga Dawa Duchen at KTBC, Tilba
& DBI, Sydney on page 3.
(Above photo of Buddha Shakyamuni at Bodhgaya India taken by
Khenpo la on his most recent journey there at Losar this
year)...
PRAYERS FOR ALL MOTHER SENTIENT BEINGS
Sangha members gathered at both Drogmi Buddhist Centres,
Kamalashila Tibetan Buddhist Centre, Tilba and the centre in
Croydon, Sydney to make offerings, prayers and pujas for the
benefit of Khenpo la’s and Lama Kalsang la’s most precious mother
and grandmother respectively. Dedications were also offered to all
mother sentient beings who have passed away, so they may attain a
precious human rebirth and meet the holy Dharma in their next
life.
We all offer our most heartfelt prayers and support to Khenpo
la, Lama Kalsang la and family at this time.

A BEAUTIFUL FIRST KTBC MARKET
DAY HELD AT BERMAGUI NSW
Here are a few photos from the Annual Seaside Fair at Bermagui,
near Tilba.
The centre held a market stall and met many of the lovely
community members.
It was a wonderful day where Lama and the Drogmi team enjoyed
the day in the sun right on the beautiful beach front. Thank you to
everyone for helping to run the stall.
A SECOND SUCCESSFUL WORKING BEE
The working bee / karma yoga weekend took place at KTBC,
accomplishing a huge
NGONDRO RETREAT at KTBC
On the weekend of 15 - 17 April the very successful Ngondro
Retreat was held at Kamalashila Tibetan Buddhist Centre. It was
lead by Inge Riebe. Inge gave very detailed instructions on the
Four Common Preliminary Practices we undertake to create the right
motivation to practice the Four Uncommon Preliminary Practices. She
gave a very clear instruction on the Refuge practice, and
Loving-Kindness, Compassion and the Enlightenment Thought. Lama
Kalsang la gave teachings on prostrations, the meaning and benefit
of them. He then gave a practical teaching on actually how to do
prostrations. Thank you Lama la and a
big thank you to Inge, for giving her time and knowledge to the
participants this weekend. Your enthusiasm and willingness to share
your knowledge was so much appreciated by all who came. The weekend
was very special.
Below is an image of the newly painted floor in the dining room
at Kamalashila Tibetan Buddhist Centre. Such a huge improvement,
thank you to Lama Kalsang and to Mark Khyenrab for all of your hard
work.
