MAHANYSAM means INSTILLATION OF THE SUPREME DIVINE ENERGY. Sage Bodhayana had gifted the humanity
with this supreme spiritual practice, which is divided into five parts and is performed before Rudra Yajnas including Japa
(chanting), Homa (sacred fire) and Archana (worship). In the first part, the individual performs the ritual of chanting
different mantras and touching different parts of the body, from back of the head (çikha) to feet (paada). This leads to
purification of the individual and elicitation of the divine energy that is within those places. Purity of the self leads to
realizing the Divinity within, which makes one “eligible’ to worship the source of cosmos (Rudra).
