Background & Overview
TAV Airports was awarded with the tender for building and
operating the new Istanbul Ataturk Airport International
Terminal in 1997. It took two years to develop the new
terminal which started operations in January 2000. The new
state-of-the-art international terminal has been operated
by TAV since then. In 2005, TAV also took over the domestic
terminal operations at Istanbul Ataturk Airport.
Istanbul Ataturk Airport is a major global airport with
passenger numbers increasing rapidly. During the last
decade, the passengers served in IST almost tripled from
12.6 million to 37.5 million, proving its slogan of PrimeLocation, Global Gateway .
IST is one of the fastest growing airports in the world
despite its high passenger base.

TAV AIRPORT HOTELIstanbul Ataturk Airport provides its passengers the
opportunity of an easy and comfortable accommodation in
the classy Airport Hotel. The Airport Hotel aims to promptly
serve the passengers in the most convenient way. The
facility is operated by BTA Catering, a subsidiary of TAVAirports Holding.
The Airport Hotel has two parts: the airside and the
landside, offering 46 and 85 comfortable and well equipped
rooms respectively. The rooms on the airside are available
not only for daily bookings but also for hourly ones,
providing international transfer passengers with the
opportunity to refresh between flights with long connection
times.
The airside part of the Airport Hotel is located within the
international terminal building, right adjacent to the duty
free area. The arriving international transfer passenger
could move straight to his hotel room, freshen up while
waiting for his connecting flight, and then directly go to the
gate at boarding time. Thanks to the hotels perfect
location, passengers dont have to leave the terminal
building or go through passport control or customs
clearance to stay in the hotel.
The Airport Hotel guests must have their boarding cards
with them to stay at the airside part of the hotel. Only
passengers arriving from an international destination and
connecting to an international destination are allowed
to stay at the airside. The landside of the Airport Hotel is
adjacent to the international terminal building. To stay at
the landside, arriving international passengers need to gothrough the passport control, leave the terminal building
and take the Airport Hotel shuttle for a 2 minute ride to the
hotel.
All rooms are equipped with internet access, music system,
minibar and access to flight information screens for the
guests comfort and ease.
The Airport Hotel has three meeting rooms divided byportable separators, which allow obtaining one big
conference room if needed. All meeting rooms have
state-of-the-art equipment with internet access, electronic
blinds, ceiling projector, LCD orientation screen, a high
quality sound system and an adjustable lighting system.
There is also one executive meeting room for VIP meetings
and two executive suites equipped with meeting facilities.
The Airport Hotel offers qualified alternatives for various
needs ranging from accommodation for airport passengers
to conferences and time efficient executive meetings at the
airport for professionals.

Topkapi Palace
Topkapi Palace was the residence of the Ottoman Sultans
for almost 400 years. Today, the palace is converted into a
museum serving as a major tourist attraction. Weapons,
armor, shields, Islamic relics and the Ottoman treasury are
exhibited for visitors. Topkapi Palace is one of the major
icons of Istanbul, reflecting the historic aspect of the city.
The view from the palaces terrace is one of the best in

MUST SEE PLACES IN ISTANBULHagia Sophia
Built in the 4 th century, Hagia Sophia is one of the most
impressive land marks of Istanbul. After suffering several
fire incidents and destructions, the current structure was
built in the 6 th century. It served as a Patriarchal cathedral
until 1453, when it was converted into a mosque by the
Ottomans. Until 1931, for almost 5 centuries, it remained as
the mosque of Istanbul. On 1935, Hagia Sophia was
converted into a museum.

Grand Bazaar
The Grand Bazaar is one of the biggest covered markets
in the world. The construction started in 1455, only 2 years
after the conquest of Istanbul by the Ottomans, and took 6
years to be completed. The bazaar has 64 streets, 22 gates
and over 3,400 shops. A wide range of products are on sale
at the bazaar including jewelry, pottery, spice, carpets,
accessories and clothing.

Dolmabahce Palace
Dolmabahce Palace, located on the European shore of the
Bosphorus, was built in 1856 with the directive of Sultan
Abdulmecid. The palace served as the primary
administrative center for the Ottoman Empire during its
final years of rule. Dolmabahce Palace is now an open
public museum. Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of
Turkey spent the last days of his medical treatment in the
palace. The room he died on November 10 th, 1938 is now a
part of the museum.

Taksim Square
Taksim Square is an important destination for tourists as
well as native Istanbul population. Istiklal Street, a long
pedestrian street originating from Taksim square, is a
