Highly Serviceable
TheGeckoFlexsystemisalsothemostservice-able system available. Its boards, dual powersupplies,fans,networkinterfaceboardandrefer-encedistributioncircuitscanallbeswappedoutfromthefrontofthechassis.Infact,notonlyarethenetworkinterfaceboardsswappable,buttheIPaddressandthechassis’sidentityremainwiththechassis,nottheboard.
Because HD boards and most other functionsprovide industry-standard SNMP monitoring ofsignal formatsandconditions—aswellas theboard’soperation,identification,andstatus—aGeckoFlexchassiscanbeeasilyintegratedintobroadcast and IT monitoring schemes with anoptionalnetworkinterfaceboard.
Reference Distribution Buses
The dual reference distribution buses of theGeckoFlexchassispermitssharingof referencesignalswithinthechassis(Figure1).Unlikecon-ventional systems, the reference inputs are stillavailableonindividualboardsandreferencecir-cuitscanbeswappedout fromthe frontof thechassis to service them. The distributed refer-encecanacceptbilevel, trilevelandAESaudiosyncinputsandfeedallboardsrequiringasimi-larreference—savingonadditionalanalogvideodistributionfunction,chassisandthepowerdis-sipationassociatedwithanold-fashionedrefer-encesystem.
Fiber Ready
Aunique feature of theGeckoFlex signalman-agement platform is a fiber-ready system thatenablesupgradingofallSD/HDdual-rateboardsto fiber inputs or outputs. These highly com-pact inputs and outputs, combined with ourfiber-ready philosophy, makes these upgrades

Multiple Choices for Sync-Refer-ence Signals
Sonata offers many choices to sync audio toreferencesignals.Theseincludeblack-burst,tri-levelsync,digitalaudiosyncandword-clockref-erence.Inthecasewhereavideosyncreferencesignal is used, 48 kHz sampling rates are sup-ported.Inallothercases,allaudiosamplingratesare supported. Sonata handles any data rate afacility typicallyneeds,supportingsimultaneoussynchronousandasynchronoussignalsfrom30to100kHz.Inaddition,samplingrateconversionisavailableonaninputbyinputbasis.
Full Performance at the Highest Density
GrassValleyoffersanuncompromisedaudioandMADI converter with the highest density avail-able. The 1RU implementation supports up to64audiochannelswith fullperformance25pinD-sub connectors and 2 MADI interconnectsbased on 75 ohm BNC connectors with 100mcable run performance. Analog audio conver-sion is 24-bitwith adynamic rangeof 112dB.Different audio reference levels are supportedinbetween+10dBu to+24dBu.Analogaudioinputs and outputs are static as well as radiofrequencyprotectedanduseaunique technol-ogytoprovidesuperiorcommonmoderejectioninsuringmaximumsoundquality.
