Hello everyone,
Capital Works

Soirees
What a wonderful time we had on Tuesday night as

proud of, and in awe of the courage our young students
who put their hands up for such events exhibit performing

2020 Student Leadership
It is an exciting time for our Year 5 students at the moment because it is at this time of the year our selection process
for our Student Leadership team takes place. The teachers and I will be working through this process with the students
in the next few weeks. We will talk about and ask our Year 5’s to think about the following very important facts - that
student leadership within the school environment comes with responsibilities which includes being a strong and
positive role model for others and promoting our school values:
- by setting an example for fellow students,
- by participating in all house sporting events and school activities,
- by acting responsibly,
- by being confident and well spoken,
- by being supportive of other children encouraging tolerance & compassion,
- by displaying leadership qualities and a team approach,
- by adhering to the school code of conduct,
- by being punctual to school and having high attendance at school.
All of the above are what we see as vital components of strong leadership in our students.
There are three stages involved for the selection of our student leadership team for 2020.
Firstly interested students will be asked to submit written applications by Friday 22nd November. Student candidate
speeches will be held on Friday 29th November at 11:30am, then finally those students wishing to apply for a School
Captain position will sit an interview on Monday 2nd December. I wish all of our students who would like to be
considered the very best of luck. All positions will be announced at the Awards Assembly on Monday 16th December.
Prep 2020 Transition
In an indication that we are entering the time of the year that seems to disappear before our eyes in schools, we will
be holding the first of our prep transition afternoons here next Friday, where the new intake of students for 2020 make
their first formal visit to the world of school. It is always a very exciting and sometimes emotional afternoon for children
and adults alike. Whilst the children share some time with their peers and teachers in the classrooms, new parents will
have the opportunity to learn more about our school and get to know one another over some refreshments.
A DATE FOR YOUR DIARIES - Parent / Helpers Thank You Morning Tea
We will be holding this annual event again this year on Thursday 5th December at 10:30am in the hall. This is one way
our teaching staff can say thank you to our many parents and volunteers who help out with our programs throughout
the year.
Enrolments for 2020
These are still being taken - if you know of any sibling enrolments in either stream
for next year would you please ask the parents concerned to let us know in the
office. We are well into our planning for Prep classes for 2020 so it is imperative that
we have an accurate view of numbers in order to ensure adequate planning.
Please also let us know if your family is planning on moving and therefore leaving
the school at the end of this year.
Until next time…………...Maria Shearn - Principal

"Starman Mascot Visit"
Last Monday, students in Prep and Grade 1 were visited by the Melbourne
Stars Cricket mascot, "Starman". He visited the students to present them
with their rewards for completing the Mascot’s Challange over 4 weeks.
This involved students practising completing hand/eye coordination
challanges in catching, throwing and bouncing. If your child is interested in
playing and learning more about cricket, they can visit
https://www.playcricket.com.au/ to find their nearest club.
John Seeary - PE Teacher
Dear parents / carers,
Thank-you to all the families who ordered mangoes through our
fundraiser this year - we have a whopping 270 trays coming our way in
early December. We will let you know that date of delivery once advised.
Thank you so very much for supporting our school’s fundraising efforts.
