It always seems impossible till

it's done. -Nelson Mandela

Life today has become so complex that examinations have come to

play an important part in one's educational

career. Examinations are considered so important that most

students are afraid of them. ... A student's success in an

examination, therefore, helps employers and others to assess his

mental or general ability.

Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers,

motivated students and enthusiastic parents with high

expectations. Today, the role of a school is not only to pursue

academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students

to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and productive members of

an ever-changing world. At NCFE we provide an atmosphere to our

students for multifaceted development, where children are

encouraged to channelize their potential in the pursuit of

excellence. This can only be possible in a holistic, student-centric

environment. The talents, skills, and abilities of each student need

to be identified, nurtured, and encouraged so that he / she is able

to reach greater heights. Students need to be provided with a

platform to think, express, and exhibit their skills. It is necessary to

empower them to negotiate several issues that confront them, with

the teacher being a facilitator.

Mini Sudheer

School plays an important role in widening the

outlook of students and teaches us momentous

values such as hard work, perseverance, discipline,

sincerity and determination.

As another academic year of NCFE came to an end,

we indeed inculcated these values and not only

progressed academically, but also socially. We look

back to a very prosperous year in which the various

events held helped the students hone their

competitive skills and realize their potential.

Our character and disposition is a reflection of our

schooling, and our education is the most powerful

weapon we possess, with which we can shape not

only ours, but the world’s future. Our school has

provided us numerous opportunities and has made

us rectify our wrongs. For that, we are truly

grateful. We look forward to a new and successful

year with new hopes, achievements and ambitions.

VALEDICTORY FUNCTION

Life is not about finding yourself, it's

about creating yourself. Who do you want

to be? - George Bernard Shaw

“School life is the most cherished

memory in a person’s life. But we

only realize that after leaving it.”

The Valedictory function for the

12th graders was held on 10th

February 2018. Students of 12th

grade were given an official

farewell which marked the end of

an eventful school life. The Chief

guest of the function was DR N

Vijaya Kumar; Chairman of

Vijaykiran Group of Institutions.

Among the other dignitaries were

the Chief Operating Officer, Ms

Sunalini Benjamin and Principal Ms

Susan Barrid. All of them addressed

the students with inspiring

messages regarding success and

the road lying ahead of them.

These messages had left a deep

imprint in the hearts of the

students. The students of grade 12

had performed a beautiful

rendition which had mesmerized

everyone.

Students of middle school

performed a dance and song which

was dedicated to their seniors.

The day felt as though it was set to

remember all the beautiful

memories which were created in

the lives of the students at NCFE.

Students were overwhelmed yet

sad about the fact that their days

at NCFE was over.

TEACHERS’ TRAINING

Imagine with all your mind.

Believe with all your heart.

Achieve with all your might.

A unique workshop was organised for

Primary and Secondary teachers in

the month of February-March. The

chief trainers were Ms. Kritika and

Mr. Chaitanya. The training

specifically focused on exploring

newer and interesting approaches to

teaching all subjects with the aim to

bring qualitative changes in teaching

methodology, hopefully making them

more interesting student friendly.

Around 60 teachers participated in

this Workshop in which Dr Benjamin

Bloom’s six levels of learning were

discussed in a very interesting

manner. Each teacher participated

with full zeal and enthusiasm.

Knowledge, Comprehension,

Application, Analysis, Synthesis and

Evaluation were the six levels of

Bloom but nowadays these levels are

called by Remembering,

Understanding, Applying, Analyzing,

Creating and Evaluating. Topics such

as Learning Objective, Learner –

centric Pedagogy, Active Learning,

Types of Learners, Differentiation,

Assessment were some aspects

which were mainly touched upon.

Each session started with a pre-test

and ended with a post-test so that

teachers can self-evaluate their level

of understanding before and after a

concept was discussed.

The workshop was participative in

nature and concept of inculcating

interesting as well as relevant topic

activities using puppets, poems,

crossword puzzles, quizzes, and more

interestingly gestures and enacting of

the subject by the students to

enhance learning were also discussed

“Prayer does not change God, but it

changes him who prays.”

Prayer is a very important element of

our lives. It soothes our minds and

gives us strength and courage. It helps

us overcome all hurdles which come in

our way. It also calms us when we are

tensed and makes us believe in

ourselves.

The students of grade X and XII who

were going to write the board exam

were part of a special puja in our

school. All the students prayed to Lord

Ganesha to seek for his blessings for

their upcoming exams. Board exams

are a critical part of a student’s life.

They act as a stepping stone for our

future and are a true test of our merit

and knowledge.

On this auspicious day there was a

divine aura which surrounded the idol

and inspired the children. This prayer

not only rejuvenated the students but

it also gave them new hope and

confidence to excel in their exams.

After this prayer the students who

were empowered with God’s blessings

received their hall tickets.

EXAMINATIONS

HALL TICKET PUJA

March is the month in which students

of all ages take their examination.

This year too, the final exams marked

the end of this eventful academic

year. The students of grade X and XII

appeared for their board exams

where as the student of other classes

appeared for their final examinations

conducted by the school. Across the

grades all were tested on the

knowledge which we gathered in the

course of a year. Our concepts,

understanding and their applications

were tested through these exams.

Exam jitters and fear is very common

among the students but the regular

revisions and guidance given to them

soothes the nerves. As always told to

us that keeping a schedule and

organizing ourselves is the most

efficient method of preparing for

exams. Many students have taken

keen interest in following these tips

and tricks. As always told

examinations are just a way for

testing our capabilities and is not the

final objective of life. Keeping this in

mind the students prepared to face

the examinations.

and greatly appreciated by the

participants.

In the effort to help keep faculty at the

forefront of the ever evolving

understanding of how students learn

and what types of best practices good

teachers should engage in, such

workshops and events offer faculty the

building blocks they need in order to

engage their students and design good

courses that foster student learning.

My Dad is my Hero

He is the most special person in my

life. He is good athlete and a

workaholic. He is the first man who

saw me. He is the man who loves me

unconditionally.

He is humble.

He is patient.

He is encouraging.

He is trustworthy.

He is selfless.

eyes are full of dreams. His studies are

his preparation for the coming struggle

of life. If properly utilized, student life

lays the foundation of the future, its

success and achievements. Student life

is the most crucial period in the life of a

person. Student life is the period of

education. We must see that student

life is full-filling the aim of his/her all-

round development. Friendship refers

to the mutual relationship of affection,

trust, co-operation, and support

between two or more individuals. We

all feel comfortable in the company of

friends. Sometimes, parents do not

understand our problems but we can

share those with our friends. Student

life is a combination of happiness,

adventure, freedom, education, stress

and friendship.

Sneha Basawaraj [VIII D]

At birth she was named Manu. She

acquired the skill in sword fighting,

horse riding and shooting at very early

age. Manu later became the wife of

Gangadhar Rao, Maharaja of Jhansi, in

1842. After her husband’s death she

started ruling the kingdom. She adopted

Damodar Rao as her son. This was not

acceptable to the Britishers and they

attacked her kingdom. Rani Laxmi bai

fought bravely but at last she died

fighting Britishers at the age of 22.

Travelling as a part of education

Travelling is my hobby. Holidays are

the best time to go travelling to distant

land. In the summer holiday I proposed

to my parents a visit to Tipu Sultan’s

tomb at Srirangapatnam in Mysuru. I

visited Tipu Sultan’s Tomb and I saw

the place where Tipu was killed by the

Britishers in 1972 during Carnatic war. I

also visited Gomteshwara temple in

Mysuru. It has 2000 year-old-statue of

a jain sage carved out of a single stone.

Thereafter I went to Hyderabad and

visited Charminar, a great monument. I

also visited Pakhal sanctuary at

Warangal, Andhra Pradesh. There I saw

tiger, panther, sambar, chital,

mountain gazzle etc. By visiting these

places I gained knowledge of culture

and heritage of these places.

Rithunandh [III D ]

My Trip to Nagercoil

My trip to Nagercoil was a jolly one. I

went to my grandparents’ house

there. We attended a temple function

called Thiruvizha. Lots of songs were

played on speaker through out the

day, there were traditional drums too

and dance program by a girl on the

stage. Later we went to Kanyakumari

beach on a bike, the cool air on my

face was great. I saw Thiruvalluvar

statue and Vivekananda memorial

rock. I played in the water with my

father, I also got some shells and

pebbles. It was great fun and we took

lots of photos.

Badminton, My New Sport

Last summer, I was introduced to a new

sport, Badminton. I love the game.

I made new friends who like the game

too. The coach trains us for two days in

a week. Each session lasts for two hours.

The other days we practice and have

fun.

Coach starts the training with a 20

minutes warm-up exercise. He taught us

techniques like drop, smash, forehand

and backhand pick-ups and rally. Session

practice ends with a match.

We had a Badminton tournament on

Children’s Day at our apartment

complex. I practiced well and played till

round 2. I enjoyed both the win and the

loss. I cheered my friends all the way till

the end.

Children were given participation

certificate. Everyone was happy.

Rani Laxmi Bai

Rani Laxmi Bai (1835–1858), was a

great warrior of the first war of Indian

Independence of 1887. Her heroic

battle against the British has become

the subject of many folk songs, ballads

and poems in India. Her life is a

thrilling story of courage, adventure,

deathless patriotism and martyrdom.

Student Life

Student life is the happiest and most

adventurous period in the life of a

person. It is a life, free from all anxieties

of the tough world. It is a period, in

which the students depend on their

parents for everything. The mind of the

student is full of noble ideas and his

A Journey to Forgotten Kingdom –Hampi

During the Dassuhera vacation, we visited Hampi , a small village in Hospet District of Karnataka State. My mother told it was

ruled by many kings and one among them was the famous King Sri Krishna Devaraya. It was known as Vijayanagara dynasty. I

was very much excited to see the ruins of the kingdom.

The first thing we saw was Virupaksha Bazaar, in front of the Virupaksha Temple. Sri Virupaksha was not even touched by

the Mughals who were destroying Hampi, as he appeared to them as a pig, who the Mughals were worshipping. So, they

were scared to destroy the temple. So every year in the month of November the people of Hampi celebrate by having a big

carnival here.

Next we went to an abandoned underground Shiva temple. From there we headed to a royal enclosure which contains

1. Queen’s Bath

2. Queen’s palace basement

3. Dasara Dibba / Bhuvana Vijayam

4. Elephant stable

5. Elephant care taker quarters

Later we moved on to Hazar Rama Temple, the magnificent monolithic Lakshmi Narasimha , Badava linga, Mustard Ganesha,

which were all ruined. In the afternoon we visited Vittala Temple, Purandaradasa Mantapa, The Tunga river, I loved the

caracole ride in the Tunga River. I can never forget the stone chariot with beautiful carvings and the musical pillars of the

temple. It gives the sound of Mridangam and sapta swaras if you tap the pillars rhythmically.

In the second day we visited Anegondi where the present generation of King Sri Krishna Devaraya lives. It is also the birth

place of Lord Hanuman, also situated here the Kondanda Rama temple, the place where Rama killed Vali and helped

sugreeva to sit on the throne. Here we also find the Tenali Rama’s house, and the sophisticated water system.

Finally it was our turn to say good bye to Hampi, the mystic land.

Action packed Dubai Airport

Last year during summer vacation we went on a trip to London. My grandparents also joined with us. In our itinerary we had

a stop at Dubai while returning from London. It was a big flight with multiple exit doors. The flight landed at Dubai airport

around 8 A.M. It was a sunny day. When I looked outside, it was a very busy airport. I saw several flights standing at the

airport. Dubai airport has three terminals. Each terminal has a capacity of more than 10 Million passengers. The airport can

accommodate more than hundred aero-planes. The airport has a metro connection between the terminals. I was excited to

see the airport so close. It was almost 8 hours journey from London to Dubai. So I was little tired sitting inside and wanted to

come out. However, I had no idea about what was waiting for us. As we started to walk towards the door, the flight crew

directed my father towards the middle door and rest of us to the rear door. The airline’s buses came to pick us up. Without

realizing, we got into different buses. My father went to went terminal I and we went to terminal II. We thought my father

would also arrive at terminal II. But that was not the case. We waited for long. Many buses arrived but he was not there. We

realized he has gone to another terminal. We were not the only people who were separated from relatives. There were

others who faced similar trouble. We were rest-less. The airport employees told us to go to the gate of the next flight and

wait for my father. The tickets were with my father so I did not know the next flight number. My mother told, we would wait

for some more time before we proceed for the next gate. I was really worried. Every second was like an hour for me. After a

long time my father came to terminal II. Seeing him, I was relaxed. A smile was hovering on all of our faces. This out of the

blue incident taught me that we should never panic in any situation.

School Of My Dream

I always wanted to study in a school with a big

building and huge play ground. When I joined

NCFE, I realized that, this school was the one,

where I always wanted to study. The teachers

are friendly and they help me every time

when I need them. Our Principal always make

sure that we are comfortable, whether in

class or in midst of other activities.

Whether it is the caretaker or the bus driver,

everyone make us feel that they are available

for us when we need them. Everyone

welcomes me with a smile in the morning

when I board the bus or when I enter the

school of my dreams, NCFE.

My Native Place

My native place in Tuticorin near a small

village called Umarikadu. I like going there

during summer vacation because the village is

full of greenery.

I go there to meet my uncle and aunt. My

sister and I like playing in the temple ground.

My uncle has many goats and chicks. We like

playing with them. There is a river in the

village. We go for walking during the evening

along the river bank. We enjoy hearing the

sound of peacocks.

There are many festivals conducted in this

village. Farmers in the village grow banana,

betel and pulses. The environment is very

clean. There is a beach close to the village.

We come back refreshed for the next year of

school.

My Barbie

The toy I love the most is my Barbie Doll. My

father gifted me a Barbie when I was four

years old for my birthday.

Oh! What a lovely gift and I had a lovely

are together. The only time I leave her is

when I go to school. She has many dresses,

comb and shoes. When I put her to bed she

closes her eyes. So we both sleep together

and wake up together and we are the best of

friends forever
