The question is whether this will grow into a more serious spiral of protectionism, or stop at some point. Current tendencies indicate that governments must be prepared for global shifts and begin stimulating tech industries. One of the most effective tools in this field could be tax incentives for priority sectors of the economy. What kind of tax policy should Kazakhstan and other states choose in the context of these reforms, and what are the problems and opportunities internet to these new conditions?

Panel discussion WHAT IS CHINA HIDING? PROSPECTS AND DIFFICULTIES IN EURASIA`S LARGEST ECONOMY Unfortunately, there are guaranteed solutions. Each solution is only applicable at a certain moment in time under certain circumstances. However, there are successful cases of rapid growth: The Asian Tigers, China`s economic miracle, and so on. What do all success stories have in common and how can we find basis for growth?

Panel discussion (Debate) SLOWDOWN IN THE WORLD ECONOMY. TREND OR ABNORMALITY? The pace of growth of the world economy is declining and so is the ability of individual economies to adapt to the new conditions. Each new economic crisis carries more profound consequences. The last crisis in 2009 proved so severe that the growth rates of world GDP, for the first time in over 50 years, displayed negative results. Will the global economy achieve sustainable growth rates above 3%? Who is right, the techno-optimists or the supporters of long-term stagnation theory?

Round table REBUILDING MULTILATERALISM IN A MULTIPOLAR WORLD The prospects for multilateralism in the world`s economic, trade and political relationships are entering a new era, but are currently in a "gloomy" phase. The world economy is facing the end of the seventy-year reign of the international liberal order. A transition is underway from the dominant liberal order on which the modern world economy was founded to a more populist, protectionist and nationalist paradigm. As one part of the world is moving towards anti-globalization, along with the US's withdrawal from the WTO agreements and other forms of international cooperation, a revival of the Great Silk Road may become the next chapter for globalization and hold the promise of promoting cooperation, investment, innovation, trade and the establishment of a long-term partnership between China, Eurasia and the EU. How will developed and developing countries shape the global geopolitical landscape in the future, and what opportunities and risks do technological transformations present for humanity (including innovation, employment, inclusive growth and new technologies)?

Presentation THE NEW CENTRAL ASIAN TRADE AGENDA. STRENGTHENING THE ROLE OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR Interregional trade between Central Asian countries remains limited. At the same time as countries are carrying out structural reforms and implementing open trade strategies, the growing global tension in trade may potentially weaken business confidence and negatively affect private sector participation in global and regional value chains. How might a regional trade agenda affect the countries of Central Asia? Will the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program help catalyse trade and enhance synergy with the One Belt, One Road Initiative, the Eurasian Economic Union and other regional agreements or initiatives?

Panel discussion EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION AND IRAN: NEW PROSPECTS FOR PREFERENTIAL TRADE COOPERATION The EAEU and Iran have concluded negotiations on an Interim Agreement to form a free trade zone. The Agreement is expected to become an additional driver for deeper, more efficient and more diversified trade and economic interaction. What opportunities will it open for exporters from the EAEU and Iran? How will the trade regime change? Will the Agreement be able to become a new “point of growth” and bring the relations between the EAEU and Iran to a new strategic level? What further prospects exist to deepen cooperation?

12:30-13:45 EEC

Panel discussion HOW CAN A UNIFIED EURASIAN ECONOMIC SPACE BE CREATED? The member states of the EEU and PRC are promoting a broad agenda for joint development through the combined efforts of all the countries of the region and the neighbouring regions, and the recently-concluded Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation is one of the key examples in this area. What prospects do the countries of the EEU and the PRC see in developing their mutual interdependence, and what do they see as an effective response to the growing risks to economic growth? What steps could further increase the impact of cooperation on joint projects within the framework of the implementation of the new Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the One Belt, One Road Initiative? How should the expanded interaction between the EEU countries and the PRC n the Eurasian region be seen - should it be expressed in a new multilateral format for cooperation?

Panel discussion (Studio) ACHIEVING THE GOALS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES WITHOUT ACCESS TO THE SEA Lack of territorial access to the sea, isolation and remoteness from world markets and high transport and transit costs impose severe restrictions on the overall socio-economic development and trade competitiveness of the 32 landlocked developing countries (LLDCs). There are a number of challenges for reducing the high costs and increasing the overall competitiveness of LLDCs in the international arena. What recommendations and opportunities might there be for improving the development and maintenance of transport infrastructure in LLDCs, expanding international transport support and strengthening cooperation in transport connections and trade for LLDCs in order to accelerate their achievement of Sustainable Development Goals? What assistance should be given to landlocked countries in order to mobilize a coordinated and collective effort to promote their special needs at international forums?

12:30 – 13:45 EEC

Panel discussion REGIONAL MEGABLOCS. THE WAY TO FRAGMENTATION OR A NEW GLOBALIZATION? Beginning in the middle of the past century, regional economic integration has been one of the key trends in the world economy. In various regions of the world, individual groups of countries have launched a variety of integration projects and initiatives devised to ensure deeper interconnection of national economies. During the past few decades, against the backdrop of a slowdown in the global economy and a significant reduction in international trade growth, economic integration is gaining new significance, with the pace set by the enlargement of regional integration entities and the formation of megaregional trade agreements with the active participation of the world’s leading economies. The formation and promotion of megapartnerships have become a key point in the economic and political agendas of leading world powers. So, what role does the integration of megapartnerships play in the transformation of world trade? Is trans-regionalization a logical evolution of the world economy and a path towards globalization, or will it lead to fragmentation of the global economic architecture? Do EAEU countries need their own “economic identity” in the context of active regional economic integration processes? What risks and opportunities does the integration of megapartnerships pose for the EAEU?

Panel discussion SPACE, OCEANS, AND ATMOSPHERE. STIMULI FOR A GLOBAL DEEP CLEAN ON THE PLANET AND IN THE COUNTRY Old methods of resources use have not stood the test of time: the negative effects of these methods has become noticeable everywhere. Still, no one is willing to pay in order to change the situation. How does humanity plan to purify the oceans and atmosphere if no agreement can be reached? What shape can economic incentives take?

15:30 – 17:00 GVA Kazakhstan

Presentation (Debate) HOW TO PREVENT WORLD WAR III? The sharp contradictions in the political and economic world system in the context of the globalization of the world compel us to seek answers to the main question of the new century: can we avoid another global bloodshed? Escalation of numerous local conflicts, interreligious clashes, terrorism, overpopulation of the planet, lack of resources and proliferation of nuclear weapons are direct threats to world stability and prosperity. What are the ways to prevent these threats? What do the participating countries of the peace dialogue offer? What can supranational democracy give as an instrument of unification?

15:30 – 16:45 GVA Kazakhstan

Round table THE THIRD MODERNISATION OF KAZAKHSTAN. HOW TO INTEGRATE INTO NEW MARKETS? In the coming years, Kazakhstan is likely to undergo dynamic changes in order to secure its place among the ranks of the most competitive economies. However, increasing labour productivity, development of institutions and investment in human capital do not guarantee success in the global arena. Successful integration into worldwide value generating chains is a critical task, especially with regard to dynamically growing new markets, like: unmanned and electric transport, digital solutions for cities, and so on. How can successful integration into global trends and leading positions in new markets be achieved? What natural resource independent sectors of the economy can become the drivers for Kazakhstan`s development?

15:30 – 17:00 GVA Kazakhstan

Panel discussion OPTIMAL LIMITS FOR THE STATE SECTOR. HOW CAN THE STATE'S SHARE IN THE ECONOMY BE REDUCED? The share held by of government sectors in the global economy is slowly growing. Many consider this to constitute a significant challenge for effective development. How can governments effectively transfer the initiative to the private sector? Where are the limits of privatisation?

Panel discussion TOWARD A GREATER EURASIA? IN SEARCH OF RESPONSES TO CRITICAL GEO-ECONOMIC CHALLENGES 2018 is the 5th anniversary of the One Belt One Road Initiative (BRI and the 3rd anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union. Successful implementation of these megaprojects will unite Greater Eurasia, which includes the countries of the EU, EAEU and ASEAN, while changing the world flow of supplies and expanding the possibilities for a range of countries to participate more actively in global added - value networks. Large infrastructure projects and new specialized international institutions, as well as improvements in the interconnection between countries make it possible to be optimistic about the future of the megacontinent. Nevertheless, further development of Greater Eurasia against the backdrop of global geo-political tensions will pose a number of critical challenges. What will constitute further development for Greater Eurasia in the context of strengthening trade sanctions, wars, limited financial resources and other barriers?

Panel discussion EQUALITY MEANS BUSINESS. CORPORATE ACTION FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH Empowering women to participate fully in economic life across all sectors and throughout all levels of economic activity is essential to building stronger sustainable economies and improving the quality of life for women, men, families and communities. The private sector has a central and active role to play in achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment, especially under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Making progress is about how we all choose to do business and how we embody principles of equality on an everyday basis, so that they enrich our cultures, values, performance and business practices.

Vision TECHNOLOGIES TO FEED A WORLD OF 10 BILLION PEOPLE

Scientists around the world call on global retailers to stop selling genetically-modified products, while telling agricultural producers to reduce the use of pesticides in order to increase productivity. There is already proof that the process of inserting a foreign gene into an organism’s genome, its stability is violated, which can cause a change in chemical contents and the appearance of toxic substances in it. The consequences of worldwide use of pesticides and nitrates are even more frightening: illness, violations of ecosystems, and extinction of species. Can agriculture be safer and more advanced at the same time?

Round table INVESTORS ROUND TABLE Kazakhstan's agriculture faces the tasks of increasing labour productivity and increasing exports of processed agricultural products. Attracting large foreign investors to the agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan is one of the most important components of creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurship and improving the investment climate. Among the notable results of the session will be the signing of memorandums between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a foreign investor relating to joint implementation of investment projects in the agro-industrial field.

Round table WATER AND PEACE. HOW TO PROMOTE TRANS-BOUNDARY WATER COOPERATION? The water supply is one of the most important factors for improving the well-being of the world's population. Accessible and high-quality water is an extremely limited resource. 40% of the world's population lives in river basins with water shortages, and by 2050 the demand for water will grow by 55%. Overcoming global challenges related to water supply is vital for sustainable development. What are the best practices for managing crossborder water resources? How can effective management of crossborder waters in the countries of the Eurasian region be ensured?

Panel discussion GREEN FINANCE. HOW DID THE PARADIGM OF INVESTING CHANGE? “Green” investment has been a sustainable and growing trend in recent years. The investment paradigm is now changing: under the obligations assumed by countries under the Paris Agreement, some traditional tools have become unacceptable for projects aimed at reducing their impact on the environment. A tool like green bonds may become a successful practice for targeted attraction of funds to finance green projects in Kazakhstan. Green bonds are the financial tool most studied worldwide and the most in demand in Kazakhstan. For example, China is actively using this tool for project financing: green bonds worth more than US$36 billion were issued in China in 2016, making up almost 45% of the global volume. What are green bonds? What is the process for preparing these securities for issue? Where should we start? What examples should we use?

CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR KAZAKHSTAN`S ECONOMY Mutual support for trade, investment and environmental policy objectives creates both challenges and opportunities for governments and other stakeholders. The basic question is how governments can engage a wide range of national and international actors to implement a nationwide, fair and market-based approach to environmental regulation that promotes regional and global investment and trade. Panel discussion (Studio) STRATEGIES FOR OIL AND GAS SECTOR DEVELOPMENT IN THE ERA OF CLEAN ENERGY The International Energy Agency predicts that in 2040 about 60% of electricity will be generated from renewable sources, and almost half from wind and solar energy. The change in the structure of the world energy balance has already prompted a number of oil and gas companies to invest in alternative energy as well as to create corporate venture funds. What are the medium and long-term investment priorities for oil and gas businesses? How do companies that extract hydrocarbons envision their future?

WORLD OF LONGEVITY

Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan

14:00 – 15:15 GVA Kazakhstan

Presentation HOW WILL ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE REPLACE DOCTORS? Artificial intelligence, portable devices, mobile applications and online consultations are becoming standard tools for treatment and personal health monitoring. According to analysts, artificial intelligence systems will have penetrated every area of healthcare by 2025, including digital assistants that will answer patients’ questions and take charge of treatment themselves. Health indicator monitoring, healthy lifestyle applications, “take the pill” reminders and medical records storage, remote professional medical assistance and treatment control — all this is possible thanks to the ability of artificial intelligence to process big data and draw conclusions based on it. Technology will tend to reduce costs and improve the quality of healthcare by applying global medical experience. The main expectations of and the main questions for digital medicine: “Why hasn't a unified and easily-accessible digital medical record, accessible at any time, been created for each person yet? Will artificial intelligence replace doctors?”

15:30 – 17:00 GVA Kazakhstan

Vision IMMORTALITY BEGINS NOW Human societies have become accustomed to treating life as a process of aging and old age as a period of wisdom but also of disease. The ideals of humanism assume a complete rejection of such ideas, and treatments that address the mechanisms of aging present a challenge to how we have come to understand longevity. Old age may no longer make people uncomfortable, and age –may cease to be the most important characteristic of a person. Artificial intelligence has already developed to the point where it is able to diagnose diseases that humans cannot. Nonetheless, the mechanisms of aging are not only difficult to slow down, but hard to identify. Will aging be prevented in the near future, and is society ready for this?

17:15 – 18:30 GVA Kazakhstan

Panel discussion LONGEVITY AS A NEW BRANCH OF THE ECONOMY Science has made goods and services possible that provide a longer life than ever before seen. This demographic megatrend presents huge market opportunities, and the markets for pharmaceutical products, customized foods, digital wellness and gerontology centres will multiply. While some countries are taking advantage of every opportunity presented by the longevity market, the increase in the healthcare expenses for older people will create a heavy burden on the economy of other states. How can we turn the increase in life expectancy into an economic driver? How will aging populations transform the economy? How should regulators respond?

Presentation BIRTH OF THE SUPERHUMAN. THE ERA OF POSTHUMANISM We are all witnessing the striking transition of the idea of the superman from the category of philosophical meditation to practical implementation, becoming a mere set of scientific and technical tasks. There is no doubt that physical modification of human beings will take place, sooner or later. Even today there exists technology to edit the human genome - biohacking, and this process will lead to a total change in human nature. What will happen if humans and artificial intelligence are made into a single unified? Will a superman be something self-reliant and independent from human nature or will it be the embodiment of super-humanism? Will it be dangerous to human civilization?

Panel discussion ALTERNATIVE MONEY. HOW SHOULD REGULATORS REACT? The new digital reality is fundamentally changing the established processes in many economic sectors. The financial service sector is no exception. In a situation when the creditor and the borrower or the investor and the object of investment can interact directly, the role of traditional financial institutions in the economy is called into question. How are the rules interaction between financial institutions and clients changing? Does the existing regulatory framework support the development of the financial sector in the digital age? Presentation NEW MONEY TECHNOLOGIES. WHAT WILL TOMORROW BRING? The accelerated development of new technologies is forcing the financial sector to actively transform itself. The main catalyst for such changes in recent years has been blockchain technology, the basis of bitcoin and other crypto-currencies. However, the potential of blockchain technology, which provides both security and transparency of information, is much more widespread. Together with the concept of Industry 4.0, blockchain technology ensures the reliability and efficiency of the new modern solutions necessary for the market. As a result, completely new opportunities, capable of changing the basic principles of monetary instruments, are opening up. Today, Kazakhstan is beginning to implement its first major blockchain-based projects. What specific blockchain projects can be implemented in Kazakhstan, and how can the greatest benefit from future money technologies be obtained?

It seems that a process of systematic modification of financial institutes and platforms has already begun. This is confirmed by the movement of exchanges toward integrating new areas of finance. However, will the older institutions be able to change? What will come along to take their place? What will the process of soliciting investment look like in the future?

Panel discussion CONTINUOUS EDUCATION OR FUSION WITH COMPUTERS? THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS IN THE XXI CENTURY The concept of lifelong learning as ongoing, independent activity undertaken by an individual motivated by knowledge acquisition is unquestionably a defining characteristic the modern era. Having appeared at the turn of the twenty-first century, lifelong learning has quickly become a requirement for contemporary people who wish to succeed in life. New technologies such as Web 2.0, augmented reality and the Internet of Things (IoT) allow us to seamlessly integrate the acquisition of information into our daily activities without distraction or loss of context. Will our consciousness be able to adapt to the ever-growing flow of information? What will the learning process look like in 30, 50, or 70 years?

Public interview OPPORTUNITIES AND RISKS OF CULTURAL MODERNIZATION OF A SOCIETY

The world is changing rapidly: media architecture, robots and artificial intelligence, interactive environments and optical installations are all popular trends in contemporary art. The art of the future will be hybrid in nature. It will use the latest achievements in science and technology. The boundaries between paintings, sculptures, installations, cinema and performance are increasingly blurred. With the help of digital technology theatre performances, paintings, music and books are becoming more readily available. How will technology affect art in the future? Will the creation of works be a mechanical process or will it remain the prerogative of exceptional talent?

Round table RIGHTS INSTEAD OF PRIVILEGES. HOW WOMEN`S LEADERSHIP CAN AFFECT THE MODERN WORLD? The Gender Inequality Index currently indicates that the opportunities available to women number about half as many as are available to men. Specifically, only a quarter of seats in national parliaments belong to female representatives. The statistics among heads of state is even more indicative of inequality. Women's competence is often questioned merely based on their gender. In the technology field, the vast majority of specialists are still men. Examples of female leaders – both politicians and businesswomen - are still rare. How will the situation change in the future? What particular contributions will female business managers make? How will the business landscape change with the

Panel discussion THE RETURN OF THE IMPOSSIBLE. VISIONS FOR CITIES IN 2050 Over the course of many centuries, humanity has tried to realize the dream of the ideal city. The future of cities has always been an object of fascination for philosophers, architects, and politicians. The beginning of the 20th century was the era of grand urban planning projects. The beginning of the 21st has already become the era of “the return of the impossible.” Today, the most advanced cities are developing long-term foresights for their future. What technologies are behind these foresights, and what lessons can cities around the world learn from these efforts?

Round table ARE PEOPLE BORN SMART? URBANTECH IN DEVELOPED AND DEVELOPING CITIES As they concentrate the majority of the world’s population and economic activities, megapolises are naturally becoming a testing ground for mass adoption of new technologies. Development companies, together with municipal authorities and technology corporations, are creating urban neighbourhoods and entire cities where “smart” technologies – innovative construction materials, the “internet of things,” and IT in the transport and public utilities fields – are being integrated even in the construction phase. Even as these cities are using their technical infrastructure to outpace historical urban centres, which developed over the course of centuries but are only now starting to integrate similar “smart” solutions into their environment, these new developments are encountering unexpected problems of their own. What are the pros and cons of creating cities “from scratch?” How is the concept of “smart” cities evolving, and what will it look like in the near future?

Round table THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES. CONGESTION-FREE CITIES OR A NEW KIND OF TRAFFIC JAM? The future of cities and the planet will depend in large part on the successful adoption of new generations of electric vehicles as clean, efficient, fast, and convenient modes of transport. Experts believe that with their help, we can finally tame endless traffic jams and the air quality problem in cities. But will their convenience become a reason for people to hop into driverless vehicles en masse, and bring about new transportation problems?

Vision URBAN RATINGS OF QUALITY OF LIFE IN KAZAKHSTAN For the first time in the history of mankind, more than half of the world's population lives in cities. By 2050, 70% of the forecasted population of 9 billion people will be living in cities. Cities have an enormous potential to change the world for the better. Occupying only 3% of the planet's surface, these dynamic and complex organisms concentrate the world's best knowledge, resources and innovative ability. They also are home to millions of ambitious young people. The still-unsolved question is whether countries around the world will be able to exploit cities` potential on their way to sustainable development. To answer this question, the UNDP has conducted studies on the quality of life Kazakhstan`s cities and their housing services, and is now prepared to present and discuss the results during the forum.

Panel discussion URBAN HEALTH AGENDA. METROPOLIS AS A RESPONSE TO KEY HEALTH CHALLENGES More than half of the planet's population lives in cities, and in developed countries, the percentage of the population living in urban areas exceeds 70-80%. This ultra-concentration of people and processes does more than lead to more effective resource use and offer access to medical infrastructure and essential services; it is also a risk to people’s health and well-being. Degenerative illnesses have become the main causes of death and handicap around the world. Ailments like psychological disorders, cancer, diabetes, and obesity have become the main threats to the residents of the largest urban areas – in other words, to a considerable portion of the world’s population. The complexity of solving the spread of non-infectious illnesses is tied to the fact that in the majority of cases, they cannot be directly healed; instead, they demand long-term lifestyle changes, which are themselves

largely determined by living environments. In addition, as part of the agenda for stable development, megapolises have become the main drivers for change. Cities are becoming battlefields for people’s health and well-being, demanding a reconfiguration governmental systems and principles of urban planning. How do different cities and countries answer the health challenges connected with urban living? How should regulatory and legal structures change to helps governments refocus on the health of their citizens? On what principles should new regions and neighbourhoods be built, and what should be done with already-developed parts of the city?

Round table CITIES FROM SCRATCH. HOW TO CREATE A SUCCESSFUL MEGAPOLIS IN THE XXI CENTURY? The 20th century gave us no shortage of new cities, including Brasilia, Canberra, and New Delhi. The 21st century is not far behind: in its first 17 years, we have seen the appearance of Songdo, Naypyidaw, Malmö, and Masdar City. Concern for the environment, innovative urban development systems, and business-friendly laws are just a few of the necessary prerequisites for new cities. How can cities be built “from scratch” and what demands should a contemporary megapolis meet?

Now these devices are capable of performing almost any task assigned to them. However, we do not know how to live in a world where the need for work is no longer present. Even creative activity, until recently the last bastion of human superiority, is ready to succumb to software development. There are growing fears for the economy and the maintenance of social order. Can we expect an emergence of new Luddites? Will subsequent generations work in servicing the machines? Or will humanity find a new application for itself in the world of all-encompassing robotisation?

Presentation SMART FOSSIL FUELS. DOES THE INDUSTRY NEED TOTAL DIGITALIZATION? Recently, the introduction of digital solutions for production processes, has aroused massive interest, including in the oil and gas industry. Is this just: hype, or is it harbinger of fundamental changes? On the one hand, digital transformation yields advantages to a business due to the increases in productivity across all segments. On the other hand, there are risks of overproduction, competition in the international arena is growing, and the prospect of replacing human labour with robots is becoming more and more certain. How should an oil and gas business respond in these conditions? What signals should the state give to stimulate optimal technological development in the industry?

Presentation SKILLS AND LEADERSHIP FOR DIGITAL PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION Every historical era relied on its own technological breakthroughs. However, the technologies themselves did not solve anything without the support of new social practices and people`s willingness to change their old habits and views. The public administration system is no exception. Its digital transformation makes new demands on the civil servant, at the heart of which lies the mobilization of all the resources of human capital. The session`s key question is: what skills should a civil servant have in the era of the digital transformation of society? What kind of leadership should they demonstrate in the competitive struggle with artificial intelligence? And what must a state do in terms of education, training and personnel policy?

Panel discussion FAKENEWS, FACTCHECKING AND OTHER UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OF THE POST-TRUTH ERA Internet search engines and social media companies have radically changed the information search process and the way that content providers deliver information to consumers. The free spread of information, the inefficiency of fact-checking tools, and the demonstration of “post-truth” politics have become a part of today’s information landscape. Among the unforeseen consequences of these technologies are increases in political and social polarisation, the spread of false information, the ignorance of facts in favour of emotional messaging, and a changed informational agenda in the media. At the same time as media outlets are developing the new field of constructive journalism, government regulators are asking themselves whether these events can sabotage democratic processes and fuel extremism and social destabilisation, and if so, how they can fight it. Can constructive journalism help solve the problems of information warfare? Can fact-checking platforms and other technological and social solutions help transmit information reliably in the age of new digital media? What solutions can regulators propose?

Panel discussion TRADE WARS AND RISING PROTECTIONISM. A DANGER FOR THE SYNCHRONIZED TO GLOBAL ECONOMIC RECOVERY The future of the banking sector is being questioned with the development of digital finance, and new forms of interaction are emerging in an era of rapid technological innovation that is changing fundamental aspects of economic growth, finance, trade and business. These transformations are taking place at lightning speed calling into question the bases of growth and making us reconsider seven decades of the international liberal order - all against the backdrop of the risk of American withdrawal from the WTO and other international agreements and organizations, as well as the divergence of macroeconomic policies and the transition to more protectionist and nationalist policies. The synchronous recovery of the world economy is subject to the risks of a new wave of protectionism, sanctions and trade barriers. Are we are moving on to a new chapter of trade wars, and could this be a signal and or symptom of entering into a cycle like the one that laid the foundation for the great recession?
