decision aids by establishing a shared evidence-
informed framework for improving their content,
development, implementation, and evaluation.
IPDAS Phases
2003-2006 Developing the Checklist (modified Delphi process)
2006-2009 Developing the Instrument (psychometric evaluation)
2011-2013 Updating evidence underlying the IPDAS checklist
(knowledge synthesis)
Objective:
To establish internationally approved criteria to determine the quality of patient decision aids. These criteria are helpful to individuals and organizations that use and/or develop patient decision aids:
– Patients
– Practitioners
– Developers
– Researchers
– Policy makers or payers
