An important trend that is already gaining momentum in Education is research on how children learn, what they learn well, where there are gaps, and how teachers can fill those gaps to make the class effective for every child. In order to accomplish this, accurate measurement of what each child is learning and providing this information in an actionable form to every teacher is essential. An assessment must not merely look at memory but higher order thinking skills as well. It should also show benchmarking information in comparison to other schools and classes.

ASSET has been doing benchmarking, assessing higher order thinking, and providing results in an actionable form to teachers so that ongoing learning improvement can take place.

ASSET has become the benchmark for schools that want to check how well their students are learning, where are the gaps and whether their efforts in the past year has helped them improve. This information is invaluable for principals, teachers, parents and students to get a clear and unambiguous picture along with clear and actionable feedback on how to improve.

Sridhar RajagopalanManaging Director

Sudhir GhodkeDirector

BE (Mech), PGDM (IIM Ahmedabad)Sudhir Ghodke was a part of the team that started Eklavya Education Foundation. He worked for a year with Tata Engineering in Jamshedpur and Kolkata as a Sales Engineer before his PGDM and with ITW-Signode, Hyderabad as Key Customers’ Manager, handling the top 20 customers of the company after completing his PGDM. As a part of the core team of Eklavya, he focused on curriculum development, architectural design and facilities planning, parenting workshops and writing articles.

Students

With ASSET, students can obtain an accurate feedback on their strengths and weaknesses and further improve their skills by themselves being involved in the learning as well as evaluation process.

Teachers

With ASSET, teachers can monitor and evaluate each student of their class and benchmark the performance with other divisions as well as schools in the country. Based on progress reports, teachers can get a better insight into the progress of each child and aim towards continuous skill improvement.

Schools

ASSET enables schools to keep an eye on the overall progress of the students and scale their performance in comparison to other schools in the country. The performance and effectiveness of the teachers can also be tracked through the detailed reports.

Assessments are usually meant to serve three main purposes – to enable students to determine their level of mastery in the concepts, to provide the educators with a feedback on the effectiveness of their teaching and to provide data which can help deliver focussed instructions.

ASSET aims to enable effective education for all stake holders.

I don’t love“studying, I dislike it.I like learning.Learning isbeautiful.”

The Evaluation ProcessReport cards in school usually show the marks and any inconsistency indicates that the student has gone wrong. However, neither the student nor the teacher can pin-point the root cause behind the irregularity in performance, thus limiting further improvement.

ASSET believes in continuous improvement by solving the core problems.

With ASSET, the evaluation is presented in the form of a detailed report for both students as well as teachers. The comprehensive analysis has a simple format and gives relevant information on the growth of the students.

The reports are easy to infer and can be easily understood by students and teachers alike.

The colour-coded format of the reports organizes the data and enables effortless browsing.

The reports include a teacher as well as student centric report respectively – the Teacher MyBook and the Student MyBook.

ASSET, through extensive research in the field of learning, has made sure students, educators and parents can reap utmost benefits out of the evaluation process through the following assistance reports.

A Panoramic PerspectiveASSET provides a bird’s eye view of the entire school’s performance and the positive attributes as well as areas which need to be worked on.

Skill Performance ReportASSET helps in determining the strengths and weaknesses of the entire class to en-able further improvement.

Annual AnalysisThe yearly report depicts the improvement in the school performance each year.

Divisional AnalysisIn order to benchmark performance, ASSET provides sectional analysis of each division of a grade in order to weigh the performance in comparison to other divisions in the same school as well as nationally.

Class Performance TableASSET generates class-wise reports for each student in individual subjects. This helps identify the miscon-ceptions and forms a platform for further action.

Question Complexity IndicatorASSET points the 3 questions that the students found most difficult to attempt as well as the ones they found simple to crack. This facilitates the teachers to further improvise on the questions students are tested on.

Learning Enhancement FacilitatorsASSET includes a range of services to improve learning. These have been developed through extensive research and consist of the Teacher MyBook and the Student MyBook.

Teachers can mark students on their performance; however, often they cannot point out the precise limitations in the students’ learning. The ASSET Teacher MyBook is a customized folder for each subject-teacher on the performance of every class. It points out the gaps in learning in each student and simultaneously provides reference material recommending ways to augment the learning process.

Students are extremely grade oriented in their development through schools for fear of being reprimanded by their parents and teachers. However, this does not help them in their progress as they are simply not aware of the root cause behind the gaps in learning.

The ASSET Student MyBook presents the students with a customized feedback and breakdown of their performance. Individual test results are accompanied by a detailed analysis listing out the students’ strengths and weaknesses. The students also receive practice tests concentrating on their weak points.

The answers to the tests are also made available, with elaborate explanations, to enhance the self learning process and to equip the students with skills to avoid any flaws in future.

MY BOOK

MY BOOK

Page 11: ASSET Brochure Finalweb Copy

ASSET MyBook in my opinion is one of the best concepts of ASSET. It is a brilliant idea especially for weak students and helps them to get better clarity of concepts. It enriches students with a lot of productive knowledge. After seeing the questions and solving them, I got a lot of knowledge and I am really thankful to it.

Shishir Garg, The Scindia School, Gwalior

It helped me identify my weak areas. I could see why I had made mistakes. It was a great idea and is perfect for providing personalized feedback for weak students. I learned from the mistakes I made in the test. It also showed my strengths, so it gave me a scope for my scholastic talents.

Dhruv Devulapalli, India International School, Bengaluru

It contains questions with detailed answers for us to improve especially in our weak areas. It’s because of these personalised analysis report and practice questions that I have managed to improve in those areas which I used to find very hard.

Jai Tatia, Manovikas English Medium School, Margao

ASSET SUPPORT

Post ASSET SessionTo help teachers understand the ASSET results and analyse it in a better way & utilise the same, the ASSET support team members would be offering a 3 hour Post ASSET session for schools, which. have registered for ASSET 2013 with more than 600 students for the Summer Round / Winter Round. This would help teachers identify the learning gaps and misconceptions based on ASSET results.

The ability to ask questions that make students think is the hallmark of a good teacher, providing the teacher the unique opportunity to exercise her skills to create something original. Therefore during the Post ASSET workshop teachers will also get exposure to the importance of high level cognitive questions which require students to use higher order thinking / reasoning skills, which subsequently lead to real “understanding”.

Brain BoostersThe ASSET questions have been widely recognized for their ability to trigger the thinking process in children and to expose them to a fresh and unique way to check their own understanding of key concepts covered in the school curriculum. ASSET Question-A-Day (AQAD) are thought provoking questions that aim to make students more accustomed to skill-based questions on a regular basis.

The benefits envisaged through ASSET Question-a-Day are

Exposure to good questions that trigger real learning.A useful daily regimen to dissuade last minute cramming and encourage regular interaction with innovative learning material.A large compilation of good questions at the end of the year that can be used in multiple ways.

Every day (Monday to Saturday), the team of educational experts sends a question to the schools’ registered email for students from classes 3-9 for English, Maths, Science and Social Studies. The correct answer to the question is then emailed the next working day with the next day’s question and so on.

Students can register for AQAD by visiting our website: www.ei-india.com
