INTRODUCTION This handbook is made especially for you to guide you through your Diploma in Health and Wellbeing Level 5 assessments.

WHY IS THIS SPECIALISED HANDBOOK IMPORTANT? It contains additional information that you won’t find in the assessments on the main module pages. It’s filled with key diagrams, spaces for you to write your own notes and most importantly assessment summaries. The summaries will let you know when you need to apply the Framework in your answers to the assessment questions. Essentially, it’s tailormade assessment information that applies to you, a valuable part of the family violence and sexual violence workforce.

HOW DO I USE THIS HANDBOOK?

1. Print it out

2. Log onto MyPath to access the learning and assessments. Keep this document next to you so you can see where you will need to apply the Framework

3. Use the spaces in the guide to write down any ideas you want to remember as you progress through the learning

4. You might want to take it along with you to your Kōrero mātanga session to prompt your discussion

ASSESSMENT This assessment focuses on what you do in your role as part of the Family Violence and Sexual Violence workforce. It’ll be a chance for you to demonstrate that you know your stuff and get qualified for it. Each of the assessments is attached to a module. For this programme – Diploma in Health and Wellbeing Level 5, there are six all together. Once you have completed your learning and are feeling confident, you will be ready to begin your assessment.

WHERE DO I FIND MY ASSESSMENTS? You will find a summary of what you will be assessed on in this guide. Each assessment, containing all the questions, can be found on MyPath on the corresponding module page.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED? Using Kōrero mātanga, a professional conversation with your assessor. You will find a snapshot of Kōrero mātanga in this guide.

WHAT WILL I BE ASSESSED ON FOR MY HEALTH AND WELLBEING DIPLOMA? You will be assessed on six module topics and your ability to apply the Family Violence, Sexual Violence and Violence within Whanau: Workforce Capability Framework and the Family Violence Risk Assessment and Management Framework to these module topics. These modules are:

WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE? You will need:

• three situations where you supported a Family Violence Sexual Violence (FVSV) client • two theories, models or approaches of which one must be Kia Puāwai • a situation where you had to apply your cultural and ethical awareness • a situation where you worked alongside and supported Tangata whenua • five current priority areas for improving our clients health and wellbeing and the challenges

you faced • three contemporary initiatives that aim to improve Family Violence and Sexual Violence

clients • a demonstration of the use of the Frameworks when identifying needs, providing support

and evaluating the support you have given You can use the same case studies in your assessments for each of the modules. You don’t have to think of a new one each time. Just make sure they reflect the Family Violence, Sexual Violence and Violence within Whānau context. As you go through your studies feel free to change your mind about your case studies. If you come across a new case that would be perfect for an assessment use it.

MODULE 1: CRITICAL THINKING TO IMPROVE PRACTICE You need to show that you can reflect on and adapt your practice to meet different situations. This assessment asks about three situations where you were supporting people to reach a positive wellbeing outcome, and you needed to change the way you were working. In this assessment, you need to discuss three situations you were involved in where you decided to change something about your practice. When critically evaluating your practice you must refer to the reflective practice questions in the Family Violence, Sexual Violence and Violence within Whānau: Workforce Capability Framework. Each task in Module 1 refers to one of the three situations. This assessment will cover:

• How did you evaluate your practice, using the Family Violence, Sexual Violence and Violence within Whānau: Workforce Capability Framework, when working with people?

• How did you resolve issues that came up? • How did you change your practice when working with people? • How did you ensure that the changes in your practice met the standards followed by your

organisation? • How did you contribute to continuous improvement in your workplace?

MODULE 2: MEETING NEEDS - JOINING UP KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND THEORY You need to show that you can identify the needs of your Family Violence and Sexual Violence clients, and discuss how you can apply your knowledge, skills and the Framework to support them. In task two of this assessment you will need to specifically discuss each competency of the Family Violence, Sexual Violence and Violence within Whanau: Workforce Capability Framework domains; what you need to know and do and why it’s important. In task three of this assessment you will need to discuss two or more theories, models or approaches. One of these must be Kia Puāwai. This assessment will cover:

• The needs of the individuals, whānau and/or community that you support • The knowledge and skills, contained in the Frameworks, that you require to support the

needs of individuals, whānau and/or the community • The theories, models and approaches that support your practice and the needs of your

MODULE 3: SUPPORTING CULTURAL DIVERSITY You need to show your cultural and ethical awareness for yourself and your Family Violence and Sexual Violence clients. In this assessment, you need to discuss your understanding of and identify situations where you had to apply your cultural and ethical awareness. This assessment will cover:

• The impact of your own beliefs and values on the relationships with the people you support • Ways to strengthen the relationships with the people you support • Ways to manage ethical boundaries and ethical dilemmas

MODULE 4: WORKING WITHIN TE AO MĀORI You need to show that you understand and apply a Māori worldview when supporting tangata whenua. This assessment will cover:

• Your approach when working alongside tangata whenua • Support for tangata whenua when determining their health or wellbeing aspirations • Support for tangata whenua to reach desired health or wellbeing outcomes • Evaluating your support for tangata whenua • Following your organisation’s standards and service philosophy

MODULE 5: IT’S ABOUT AOTEAROA You need to show your understanding of initiatives that improve the wellbeing of your Family Violence and Sexual Violence clients and how they relate to your role. In this assessment, you need to discuss five current priority areas for improving your clients health and wellbeing and the challenges you face in achieving them. You will also need to discuss three contemporary initiatives that aim to improve the wellbeing of Family Violence and Sexual Violence clients. This assessment will cover:

• The current priority areas for improving health and wellbeing for New Zealanders • The contemporary initiatives which address the current priorities and challenges faced when

MODULE 6: SUPPORT PRACTICES You need to show how you have supported people by fulfilling the requirements and responsibilities of your role. For part of this assessment, you will do this by showing how you have met the role competencies you described in the assessment for Module 2: Meeting needs: Joining up knowledge, skills and theory. You can show how you fulfilled the requirements and responsibilities of your role by either:

• Providing evidence in the form of written, audio or visual records or documentation you used in your work, OR

• Observations or attestations from somebody in your workplace. Your assessor will approve who that person can be

In addition to submitting your collection of evidence and/or signed observations, you will discuss your support practice with your assessor in the Kōrero mātanga for tasks 1 and 3. This assessment will cover:

1. Identifying needs - You must demonstrate that you can apply the Frameworks when identifying your Family Violence and Sexual Violence client’s needs.

2. Providing support - You must demonstrate that you can apply each of the Framework competencies and RAMF values when providing support to your Family Violence and Sexual Violence clients.

3. Evaluating support - You must demonstrate that you can apply the Frameworks when evaluating the support you provide to your Family Violence and Sexual Violence clients.

As part of this assessment, you are required to complete at least 200 hours of applying what you have learnt about the support practices required for their role to your practice in the workplace. Demonstrate that you can use the Frameworks when identifying needs, providing support and evaluating the support you have given. KEY DIAGRAMS The Frameworks have been designed to give you, the workforce, a common understanding of family violence and sexual violence, enabling you, the workforce, to provide consistent, effective and integrated response to victims, perpetrators, their families and whānau.
