The State of Assam is one of the most beautiful regions of India. There is hardly any other state which has greater variety and colour in its natural scenery and in the cultural treasures of the people that inhabit it. It is situated in the north-eastern region of INDIA and touch a little bit of mighty Himalaya . Dispur is the capital of Assam and its situated in Guwahati

The State of Assam is one of the most beautiful regions of India.

There is hardly any other state which has greater

variety and colour in its natural scenery and in the cultural treasures of the people that inhabit it.

 It is situated in the north-eastern region of INDIA and touch a little bit of mighty Himalaya .

Assam is surrounded by six of other seven sister states i.e Arunachal , Nagaland, Monipur , Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and also share two international borders with Bhutan andBangladesh There are 26 District of Assam . Its area is 78438 sq Km and population is 26,638,407 . Assam became a part of the India after the British occupied the region following the First Anglo-Burmese War of 1824–1826 .

According to kalika-purana the land was known as Kamrupa

in early days. It was also known as Pragjotishpur .

In earliest ruler of Assam was Narkasur

established his own Naraka dynasty and his son Bhagadata

mentioned in the Mahabharta of kurukshetra with is his army kiratas . Later on The

Kachari kindom from Mongolia and upper part of China rules in Assam.

The festivals of Assam are linked to agricultures. There are called

Bihu

and are celebrated at different agriculture operation in january and april with music dance and marry

         Assam is very famous for the one

horned Rhinoceros .

Another heritage site are

Manas national park and Dibru shikhowa

national park. Wild elephant ,leopard and various kind of birds etc are found here.

An elephant festivals

is held each year at kaziranga in the month of february . More than 300 elephants have races and play

football.

      The Tezpur temple include temple sri mahabhairad mandir , holeshwar , da – parbatiya and agnigarh , the site of ancient battle between Lord krishna and Lord Shiva.

     This powerful Shakti Temple of

Mother Goddess Kamakhya is situated on the top of the scenic

Nilachal Hills overlooking the majestic

river Brahmaputra.

The temple of nine planets is situated on Chitrachal

Hill in Guwahati, Assam. In ancient times, it was said

to have been a great centre of study of astronomy and

astrology.

The great Shiva temple is situated on the

Assam has the largest and old oil refinary of Asia . It is situated in

Digbai , Tinsukia .

Srimanta Shankardeva was a 15th-16th 

century Assamese Vaishnavite saint-scholar, playwright, social-religious 

reformer and a colossal figure in the cultural and religious history 

of Assam, India. He is credited with providing a thread of unity. Sankaradeva 

inspired bhakti in Assam just as Guru Nanak, Ramananda, Kabir, Basava and

 Chaitanya Mahaprabhu inspired it elsewhere.

Dr. Bhabendra Nath Saikia was winner of Sahitya Academy award & Padma

Shri, novelist, student of science, researcher, physicist, editor, short story writer and film

director . He had a PhD in Nuclear Physics from the University of London and later taught at

Gauhati University. He won many literary awards, including Sahitya Academy (1976), and was also

recognised with the Padma Shri.

Nalani bala Devi was best known female poet of her era. She was a

noted Indian writer and poet of Assamese literature, known for nationalistic as well as mystical poetry. She

was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1957 for her contribution to literature, and 1968 she won the Sahitya Akademi Award given by

Sahitya Akademi (India's National Academy of Letters) for her poetry collection Alakananda

BishnuPrasad Rabha is one of the pioneers of Assamese music and

art. A doyen of the Arts, he is popularly known as Kala Guru

among assamese peoples. He was a multifaceted artist andrevolutionary singer of Assam. His music, today, is known

as 'Bishnu Rabha Sangeet'.

Laxminath Bezbarua

the author of Assamese journal Jonaki (1889), which begins the period of modern assamese

literature. Thus began the Jonaki period of Assameseliterature. Laxminath Bezbaruah popularly known asRasaraj(Some people says Roxoraj) or 'The King of

Humour‘

Anandaram Dhekial Phukan(1829-1859)

lived only 30 years but in his short time he was one of the pioneers of Assamese literature in the Arunodoi era who

joined in the literary revolution initiated by Missionaries with his heart and soul. He regenerates assamese literature.

Dr Bhupen Hazarikais an Indian singer, composer, lyricist, music director, and

Filmmaker from Assam, a state in the north-eastern part of India. A multifaceted genius, he is a good poet, music

composer,singer, actor, journalist, author and film-maker of the very highest repute. He is the only living pioneer of Assam’s film industry in the Northeast, and has been

therefore, rightly hailed as the uncrowned king of North-Eastern India. cultural world

 The climate of Assam is

Wet

almost throughout the year .

It has a sub-tropical monsoon climate with an average rainfall of around 1,500 mm per year. The daytime temperature in summer, the rainy season, rises to around 35ºC and in winter cools

to 25ºC with a nighttime minimum of around 10ºC.
