ISTE's NETS for Students (NETS•S) are the standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge students need to learn effectively and live productively in an increasingly global and digital world. Simply being able to use technology is no longer enough. Today's students need to be able to use technology to analyze, learn, and explore. Digital age skills are vital for preparing students to work, live, and contribute to the social and civic fabric of their communities.

• Creativity and Innovation

Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. For example, students apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas,products, or processes.

• Communication and Collaboration

Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.e.g. Interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety of digital environments and media.

ISTE's NETS for Teachers (NETS•T) are the standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge educators need to teach, work, and learn in an increasingly connected global and digital society. As technology integration continues to increase in our society, it is paramount that teachers possess the skills and behaviors of digital age professionals. Moving forward, teachers must become comfortable being co-learners with their students and colleagues around the world.

Effective teachers model and apply the NETS·S as they design, implement, and

assess learning experiences to engage students and improve learning; enrich

professional practice; and provide positive models for students, colleagues, and

the community. All teachers should meet the following standards and performance

indicators.

1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity.

Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.

2. Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments.

Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS·S.

e.g. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity

3. Model Digital Age Work and Learning

Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society.

e.g. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations.

ISTE's NETS for Administrators (NETS•A) are the standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge school administrators and leaders need to support digital age learning, implement technology, and transform the education landscape.Transforming schools into digital age places of learning requires leadership from people who can accept new challenges and embrace new opportunities. Now more than ever, the success of technology integration depends on leaders who can implement systemic reform in our schools.

Coaches, technology facilitators, technology integration specialists, and others who help classroom teachers integrate technology into the classroom are instrumental in the effective implementation of the NETS for Teachers. With the guidance of a coach, teachers can leverage the power of technology to engage students in their learning and help them develop digital age skills.

6. Content Knowledge and Professional GrowthTechnology coaches demonstrate professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions in content, pedagogical, and technological areas as well as adult learning and leadership and are continuously deepening their knowledge and expertise.

ISTE's NETS for Computer Science Educators (NETS•CSE) are the standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge that computer science educators need to reach, inspire, and teach students in computing. While most people use technology, it is the computer scientists who create and design it. Computer science teachers are engaging and building corps of students who have a computing skill set that is applicable across various fields.
