At the end of November, the Lao Rugby Federation will host the Asian Women’s Rugby Division II Championship at Chao Anouvong stadium in central Vientiane. The Women’s National Teams of China, the Philippines, Thailand, and the Lao PDR will all compete in matches from 3:00 to 5:30 pm on the 24 th , 25 th , and 26 th of November. In addition, an esteemed panel of International Rugby Board Educators—including Katie Wurst and Shirley Russell, both of the Lao Rugby Federation—will conduct development activities specific to rugby 15s throughout the competition. In 2010, the Lao Women’s National Team competed in the Asian Women’s 15s Development Camp against Thailand and the Philippines. Last year, Laos defeated Thailand and tied with the Philippines to win the competition. In October, the Women’s National Team defeated Malaysia and played a very close game against Korea in the Asian Women’s Sevens Championship in Pune, India. Laos’ women hope to use last year’s successes and the experience gained in Pune to lead to victory in this year’s Asian Women’s Rugby Division II Championships. During the Championships, Vientiane will also host the Asian Rugby Football Union Annual General Meeting at the Vansana Riverside Hotel. The Annual General Meeting will draw rugby VIPs from over 15 countries. The VIPs will be special guests at the Asian Women’s Division II Championships, which will be the largest international women’s rugby tournament held to date in the Lao PDR. The Lao Rugby Federation would like to thank Rashmi’s Enterprises for sponsoring the Women’s National Team. A special thanks goes to the Vientiane Institute of Technology, which has generously provided training facilities leading up to the Championships. The Women’s National Team is also supported by the “One Business, One Player” sponsorship scheme. OBOP provides businesses and individuals with the opportunity to sponsor individual players. The current Women’s National Team OBOP sponsors are the Lao Women’s Union, Chris Mastaglio, Logantek, Albert Tan, and Dillon Energy Services. Laos welcomes China, Thailand, and the Philippines to this year’s Asian Women’s

Division 2 Rugby Championship.

At the end of November, the Lao Rugby Federation will host the Asian Women’s Rugby Division II Championship at Chao Anouvong stadium in central Vientiane.
