ABOUT ASCEND®Ascend is the largest, non-profit Pan-Asian membership organization for business professionals in North America. Established in 2005, Ascend’s network includes over 60,000 senior executives, professionals, and MBA/undergraduate students involved in our 17 professional chapters and 34 student chapters. As a career lifecycle organization, we offer robust leadership and professional development programs designed to cultivate Pan-Asian talent by supporting our members in reaching their career potential and by supporting our corporate partners to develop a strong, diverse, and inclusive workforce to achieve business growth.

OBJECTIVES• Connect Pan-Asian leaders across industries through a network of seasoned professionals and emerging leaders

• Enable young professionals and emerging leaders to pursue their dreams and achieve new professional heights

• Assist our partners and sponsors to achieve business growth through world-class diversity and inclusion practices

Please join us at the 2018 Ascend National Convention & Career Fair, August 20–22, 2018 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.

Pinnacle was launched by Ascend to focus on Asian American corporate board directors on US company boards.

VISIONHelp corporations enhance their business objectives by increasing the number of Asian American corporate board directors.

GOALCreate a platform to network, leverage and support current Asian American corporate board directors; develop aspiring candidates for future board service; and provide thought leadership regarding corporate board issues. The goal is that each year, the number of new Asian Americans on Fortune 500 boards should reflect the Asian population in the United States (6.8 percent in 2015).

PINNACLE MEMBERSHIPPinnacle has two categories of membership: Experienced public company board directors and aspiring board directors. Pinnacle uses the “pull” from the experienced and the “push” from the aspiring to create momentum for change. Members are encouraged to support Ascend’s Pan-Asian initiatives such as Pinnacle by becoming Lifetime Members of Ascend.

e Pan-Asian Corporate Board Initiative

PINNACLE

Welcome to the Second Ascend Pinnacle Asian Corporate Directors Summit!

We launched Ascend Pinnacle with a simple goal: increase the number of Asian Americans on public company boards.

FACT 1: Asians (including Asian Americans and all Asians) occupy only 3.1% of the 5,440 Fortune 500 board director seats.

FACT 2: Nearly 80% of the Fortune 500 corporations have no Asians on their boards.

FACT 3: Asians are the least likely to be promoted to managerial or executive positions, in spite of being the largest minority group of professionals and the most likely to be hired.

We are here to change this. The gaps you see today represent significant opportunities for companies to better leverage the business experiences and insights Pan-Asian leaders can bring to their organizations. Together we can shape the future of Pan-Asians and their positive impacts in corporations.

Ascend Pinnacle’s primary focus is on Asian American directors on US public company and large private company boards. Following a very successful inaugural Summit in 2017, we are delighted to welcome each of you to our second Ascend Pinnacle Asian Corporate Directors Summit, the largest national gathering of Asian American corporate board directors. We are thrilled that you have chosen to be a part of this important weekend. This year’s theme is “Together We Soar” which speaks to the monumental power and influence of our voices.

Our goal is for you to leave the Summit with a broadened network and a sense of empowerment, renewed energy and enthusiasm. We want to inspire you to make change happen and pave the way for the next generation of leaders like yourself.

Ascend is a lifecycle organization and the only non-profit Pan-Asian membership organization focused on the advancement and contributions of business professionals in North America. Ascend Pinnacle is part of Ascend’s suite of offerings for all Pan-Asian professionals, from students to senior executives to corporate directors.

We would like to thank our Summit founding partner Deloitte. They have been a founding partner of Ascend and Ascend Pinnacle and have been a continuous investor in our mission and programs. Special thanks to all our other sponsors and our board alliance partners. Together, we are committed to making a positive impact in the corporate boardroom. We would also like to thank each of you for joining us and we ask you to stay engaged, be proactive and help us shape the future of our organization and mission. We look forward to making some real change. Together We Soar!
