Call to Order and Reading of TC 1.3 Scope (Gorgy) Chair Evraam Gorgy called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm. Introductions around the room followed.

ASHRAE code of ethics (Gorgy)

Establishment of Quorum (Gorgy) 8 of 11 voting members (quorum) were present, so a quorum was established. 2 non quorum members also present

Section Head Comments (Jennifer Leach) Jennifer Leach is the new Section 1.0 head. She stopped by the TC meeting and introduced herself.

Handbook Subcommittee (Couvillion - absent/ Gorgy read notes) Guru Ravi will be the new Handbook Subcommittee Chair succeeding Rick Couvillion Rick was asking for volunteers to review the Fluids, Heat Transfer, and Mass Diffusion chapters Nawaz is leading an effort to update Chapter 5 on Two Phase Flow

o Current status is that he is in the process of establishing a template to update the chaptero Ray Rite, Vikrnat Aute, Ahmed El Atar and Brian Fronk volunteered to helpo There is a plan to hold a teleconference in the September timeframe

Research subcommittee meet on Sundayo Three projects that have been reviewed

1806 – Post ignition of refrigerants risk assessment Project is split into multiple phases Phase 1 was complete 18 months ago PMS is reviewing results to propose a Phase 2

o 1807 – Guidelines for safe handling of flammable refrigerants Report is complete is available on the website

o 1808 – Assessment of field made mechanical joints Project is complete Report should be on the website soon

o Work statement 1855 Looking at combustion products Submitted to RAC after Atlanta meeting RAC returned with comments WS is being updated for resubmission

Research Subcommittee (Huber) Research Subcommittee Chairs Breakfast slides attached

o ASHARE will now devote 10% of Research Funds on (PTAR – P stands for Publications) to focus on publications that are beyond the capacity of volunteer activity

o ASHRAE has started on a new Strategic Research Plano A summary of ASHARE Research Costing was reviewed (slides attached)

WS for 1683o Steve Eckels took control of the PES which led to a revised Work Statemento The new WS was submitted for bid in February, but not bid as it was a low priorityo The new WS is tentatively scheduled to go out for bids in Fall 2019

Low GWP Zeotropic Mixtures in Mini-channels o Lorenzo gave a status update on RP1800

Joe asked for volunteer for ideas for RTARso Previously an idea for an RTAR on shell side boiling of CO2

Nawaz stated there was no progress, but it is requested to keep activeo TC 8.5 is producing an RTAR on CO2 condensation, they are looking for TC 1.3 to sponsoro Kulankara is working on an RTAR focused two flow across a sharp orificeo A suggestion was made for an RTAR to cosponsor with TC 8.5 on Low GWP in tube condensationo A suggestion was made for an RTAR on improving correlation for condensing flue gas heat exchangers

Rite, Nawaz, and Padakannaya agreed to helpo Huber will review a draft of an existing RTAR on wetting and drainage of evaporative condensers
