Ambu ® aScope ™ - Quick Guide 1. Functions The Ambu ® aScope™ can be used/switched on for a total of 30 minutes within an 8 hour period from first switching on. When the 30 minutes or 8 hour period is exceeded the power to the aScope system is switched off. The timer within the aScope is independent of the aScope Monitor and will remember at which point the aScope was switched on/off. The time remaining for the aScope will be shown as symbols on the aScope Monitor at all times when powered on and connected. Do not disconnect the aScope from the aScope Monitor within the first two minutes. The reusable monitor displays the video image from the aScope. Fully charged battery (green). Preparation for use Ensure that the endotracheal tube slides over the insertion cord without resistance. The aScope can be used with ET tubes size 6 and upward. If there is resistance put a small amount of lubrication half way up the aScope cord to ease tube passage. Do not get lubrication or any other contaminant on the tip of the aScope. Place the ET tube on the green parking device at the top of the aScope cord. If you are using a preformed ET tube unbend it before inserting the cord of the aScope through it. Antifogging agent is not required with this device. No additional lubrication is required. The aScope has an easy glide surface. Carefully slide the bending control lever forward and backwards in each direction until it stops. Confirm that the bending section functions smoothly and correctly. Slide the bending lever slowly to its neutral position. Confirm that the bending section returns smoothly to an approximately straight position. Connect the aScope to the aScope Monitor to check picture signal. Always have an additional aScope or reusable scope to hand as a precaution. Time remaining counts down in minutes from 5 minutes to one minute. 5 496 2010 21 • 02/2010 - Ambu A/S - Technical data may be modified without further notice.
