Presentation discussing training operations in NSW HEMS in conjunction with the new AW139 fleet. FFS = full flight simulator and is the type of platform that could be used to produce cost- effective yet robust aeromedical tiltrotor research prior implementation. FFS enables integrated simulation of front- and back-of-cabin responses to ad hoc aeromedical circumstances. FFS will also enable accurate reproduction of previously experienced real-life or artificially constructed situations, to evaluate how a crew operating out of different airframes might approach the same task (blinded). Powerful conclusions could be made via controlling as many variables as possible, whilst minimising risk to crew evaluating a “new platform”.

The importance this research will have to an Australian aeromedical tiltrotor programme is

obvious. It will be interesting to know the

outcome(s).

Presentation by Dr Russell D. MacDonald A strong argument for tiltrotor aeromedicine

can be made by noting the reduction in transport time - 2% less risk for every 10

minutes shaved off transport time!

Presentation by Dr Russell D. MacDonald Using a system to guide decision upon which type of transport asset to use instead of a human operator. Once established, this type of system could help decipher objectively if tiltrotors are value added (in theory).

Presentation by Mr Tim Pickering Discussing the difficulties (as highlighted by Erik Kolle) faced

by the US Aeromedical Industry
