THEGOALS
The goal of As-Sadiq Islamic School is to educate studentswith the best and religious values,whilecomplyingwiththeOntarioMinistryofEducation.Parentsareencouragedtogetinvolvedwiththeirchildren'seducationandtoparticipateintheregularParent-TeacherAssociation(PTA)meetings.As-SadiqIslamicSchoolisstructuredtoallowthestudentstoinvolvetheirparentsintheirschoollifeandschoolwork.As-SadiqIslamicSchoolwillimpartreligiousandmoraleducation,accordingtotheprinciplesoftheJa'fariIslamicfaith,soastoinculcateinthestudentsanintegratedIslamicpersonality.To meet this goal, students will receive instruction in Islamic Studies, Qur'an recitation andmemorization,salatandremembranceofspecialIslamicevents/holidays.ThecurriculumisfullyintegratedwithIslamicperspectives,includingknowledge,history,traditionsandvalues,andthestudentsreceivedailyreinforcementinIslamicpersonalitytraitsandmoralethics.Theschoolwillpromoteuniversallyacceptedvaluesoftolerance,mutualunderstanding,peace,andgoodcitizenship.Webelievethatnotwochildrenareidentical.Aneffectiveschoolprogramrespondstothisdiversitywithacurriculumthatwillmeetindividualdifferencesandmaximizeeachstudent'spotential.

Astudentwishingtobedismissedearlyfromschoolmustcometotheoffice.Thestudentmustpresentadatednote,signedbyaparent/guardianand/orphonecallstatingthereasonandtimeofthesign-out,totheSecretarybeforethebeginningofmorningassembly.Studentsundertheageof18cannotbereleasedfromtheschoolforanyreasonwithoutparentalpermission. We recommend that any scheduling routine doctor/dentist appointments orpersonalbusinessbedoneattheendoftheschoolday.
Late to School
School day begins at 8:30 a.m. If a student arrives any time after 8:30 a.m. then he/she ismarkedlate.Studentsareexpectedtobeontimeandpreparedforeachperiod.Theymustbeinclass incompleteuniformwithall therequiredbooksandmaterials.Lateness isdetrimental tothe progress of the student who is late. Lateness also causes a disruption of the class and isdisrespectfultotheteacherandstudentsintheclassroom.Interventionsforstudentswhoarefrequentlylate:
When a student is absent from school, it is the student’s responsibility to complete all workmissedduetotheirabsence.Ameetingwithteachersuponareturnfromabsenceisencouraged.Please call the school before 9:00 a.m. to informof student’s absence. For planned absences,pleasemakearrangementswiththeteacherandtheschoolinadvance.
Procedure Aparent/guardianMUSTcontacttheschoolifastudentistobeabsent.Ifnophonecalland/ornoteisprovidedtoverifythestudent’sabsence,thestudentmustreporttotheOfficebeforethestartofperiod1toreceivea“readmit”toclassslip.If a student has been absentwithout reason, amark of zeromay be assessed for incompletework. Furthermore, the student may receive community service, a school detention orsuspensionfromschoolforskippingaclass.
It is thepolicyofAs-Sadiq IslamicSchool thatall studentsweara schooluniform.Theuniformmust be worn while attending school, field trips and excursions, and all school events unlessotherwiseindicatedbytheadministration.Hijab(scarves)arealsomandatoryforallgirlsduringprayersandforgirlseightyearsofageandolder(grades3andup)duringtheschoolday.Uniformsmustbepurchasedfromtheschool.In order tomaintain uniformity, all uniforms (including gymuniforms)must be purchased fromourschoolsupplier(s).(noexceptions)Samplesizesareavailableatheschool.Pleaseensureallpersonalarticlesareclearlymarkedwithyourchild'sname;i.e.,boots,indoorshoes,runningshoes,bags,gymclothing,shirts,blouses,pants,cardigans,coats,lunchkits,etc.Valuablesandmoneyshouldnotbebroughttoschool.Pleasenote:Exchangeswillonlybepermittedwithinoneweekfromdateofpickupandmust

Staff Responsibilities.
School personnel, including supply teachers should serve as role models for proper attire in theeducational setting. School personnel should ensure that all students adhere to As-Sadiq’s UniformPolicy.

The followingprogressivedisciplinarymeasuresshallapply:
Firstoffense:TeachertonoteandrecordIncident.Verbalcounselingwithstudent.Second offense: Teacher to refer incident to the Admin with written record of first incident.Admin to assess situation and call to parent for assistance and cooperation in the matter.Parentswillberequestedtobringintheappropriateclothingifpossible.Third Offense: Teacher to refer the incident to the Admin with records. At the principal’sdiscretion, further disciplinary measures may be taken. (i.e. student may be withheld fromclasses until they have complete and proper uniform; attendance at special programs andactivitiesmaybeforfeitedorwithheld)Consequent Offenses: Teacher to refer the incident to the Principal/Admin. Disciplinarymeasureswillbetaken.Parentswillbecontactedandstudentwillbewithheldfromclassesuntiltheycomplywiththeschooluniformpolicy.Studentmaybesuspendedforpersistentoppositiontoauthorityand/orhabitualneglectofdutyand/orconduct injurious to themoral toneof theschool.
PleaseNote: In certain circumstances, if a student’sattire isdeemed tobe Islamically inappropriate(whetheritisafirst,second,thirdorconsequentoffence)astudentmaynotbeallowedtoreturntoclassuntiltheyareinappropriatewear.Inthesecasesparentswillbenotifiedtomakethemawareofthesituationandtheirassistancewillberequestedtoresolvetheproblemimmediately.
Studentsareresponsibleforgoodbehaviouronschoolcomputersandcomputernetworksjustastheyareexpectedtoinpersonattheschool.Communicationsonthenetworkareoftenpublicinnature.Generalschoolrulesforbehaviourandcommunicationapply.Thecomputernetworkisprovidedforstudentstoconductresearch,andforacademicandeducationalpurposes.Accesstonetworkservices isgiventostudentswhointurnagreetoact inaconsiderateandresponsiblemanner.Network storage areas should be treated like school lockers. Network administrators may review files and communication to maintain system integrity and ensure that users are using the system responsibly. The following are not permitted:

HOMEWORKThestaff,parents,andstudentsofAs-SadiqIslamicSchoolbelievethathomeworkis an important component of a child's education. It enhances communication between homeand school, andprovides opportunities for students to review concepts learnt during the day,diagnoseweaknesses, reward strengths andenhance skills. The responsibility for homework issharedamongstudents,teachers,andparents,butitisthestudents’andparents’responsibilitytoensurequalityandon-timecompletionandsubmissionofhomework.Homeworkisdefinedas:Thoselearningactivitiesthatareassociatedwiththein-schoolprogramandwhicharecompleteoutsidethenormalclassroomtime.

After School Program
• All children not picked up by 3:55 will be escorted to the After-School Program by security - no exceptions.
• Please instruct your children to go to the After School Program. It is for their safety and protection.
• As-SadiqIslamicSchoolisregisteredwiththeOntarioMinistryofEducationandTrainingas a full-fledged private school. The secular aspects of the school program fulfill themandatesetoutinallMinistrycurricula.
• The religious aspects of the school program include: Arabic (speaking, reading andwriting),Quranicrecitation,aswellasIslamicStudiesandJurisprudence(Fiqh).Specialistsarehiredbytheschooltoteachthesesubjects.
The Ontario Student Record (OSR) is the official record for a student. The OSR containsachievementresults,creditsearned,diplomarequirementsandother information importanttothe education of the student. Students and their parents (if the student is not an adult)mayexaminethecontentsoftheOSR,butmaynotremoveanypartofit.TheserecordsareprotectedbytheEducationActandFreedomofInformationlegislation.

As-SadiqhasaveryactiveParentTeacherAssociation(PTA),whichhelpsintheenhancementofthe school life. It helpswithpizza lunches, fund-raising for field trips and school activities andplaysmanyothersupportiveroleskeepingthechildren'swelfareinmind.ItistheretohelpnewparentseaseintheAs-Sadiqcommunity.WeaskallparentstovolunteerwithPTAandsupportthembyparticipatingintheirprogramsforparents.Webelievethatthehomeandtheschoolmustworktogetherintheeducationalinterestsofthechild.OurobjectivesatOurAs-SadiqIslamicSchoolareasfollows:

Aspartofthecurriculum,As-Sadiqstudentsundertakeregularfieldtripsoffschoolpropertyandexcursions around the school, typically three times per year. It is expected that all studentsattendtheseactivitiesinordertobenefitfromthelearningandhands-onexperiences.PleasefillouttheformpermittingyourchildtoparticipatewhileatAs-Sadiq.Particularinformationaboutfieldtrips issentnearthedateofthetrip.Allstudentsmustbe inschooluniformduringfieldtripsandallconductonfieldtripsmustcomplywiththeschool'sCodeofConduct.

donationtaxcredit.ParentswhowithdrawtheirchildrenafterthethirdweekofAugustwillbechargedonemonthsfee.Ifachildiswithdrawnfromtheschoolforanyreason,andsubsequentlyenrolledinafutureschoolyear,anewregistrationfeewillapplyirrespectiveofthepaymentofregistrationfeeinapriorschoolyear.A child whose fees are in arrears from the previous year will not be allowed to register andattendclassesunless theoutstandingamount fromthepreviousyear is settled in full.Parentsmustensurethattheirchildren'sschoolfeesarepaidbyJune15toguaranteere-enrollmentforthefollowingyear.The aforementioned annual school fees are due at the beginning of the school year inSeptember.Parentsarerequiredtoprovidetheschoolwithavoidcheque.Paymentforschoolfeescanalsobemadebyissuingcheques.ThechequeormoneyordershouldbepayabletoAs-SadiqIslamicSchool.Schoolfeescanbepaideitherannuallyormonthly.Thechequesshouldbedatedthefirstofeachmonthandallofthesechequesshouldbegiventotheschoolonthefirstdayoftheschoolyear.Parentswho informtheschoolafter the thirdweekofAugust that theirchild (ren)willnotbeattendingAs-SadiqinSeptemberwillforfeitonemonthsfees.Thischargewillnotbeeligibleforadonationtaxcredit.Iftheparentsenrolltheirchildintheschoolforanysubsequentyear,theywillnotbeentitledtoapplytheforfeitedfeesfromanypreviousyear.Ifachequeisreturned"NSF"byafinancialinstitution,parentswillbenotifiedanwillhavetopaythe feesplusa$15service feechargewithintwobusinessdaysbywayofamoneyorder.Theschool reserves the right to request cash or a money order from a parent whose cheque isreturnedNSFtwice.TheExecutiveBoardwillreviewallfeesoutstandingattheendofeachterm.Theschoolreservestherighttodismissachildfromtheschoolifthefeesforthatchildhavebeenoutstandingforthreemonths.Foreachschoolyear,detailplanning isdonetoensurethatweutilizeourresourceseffectivelyandefficiently.Theschoolentersintoanumberofannualcommitmentsbasedontheexpectednumberofstudentswhowillenrollattheschool.Thesecommitmentsincludehiringappropriatenumberof teachers,purchasingsuppliesandtextbooks,etc.Accordingly,our feesare foreachschoolyear,youwillnotbeentitledtorefundoftheschoolfeespaid.Ifthefeeswerebeingpaidonamonthlybasis,theschoolwillcontinuetodepositthepost-datedchequesatthebeginningof each month to fulfill the parents' commitment. In extreme circumstances, the ExecutiveCommittee of the Board may decide to give a refund or waive the continuing payment ofmonthly fees upon written submission by a parent or legal guardian outlining the facts andcircumstances.
Ifachildisenrolledduringtheschoolyear,theparentorguardianwillhavetopaytheproratedannualschoolfees.Forexample,ifachildisenrolledonJanuary1,theparentswouldhavetopay60%oftheannualfee.Inadditiontotheregistrationfeesof$150,theproratedannualfeecouldbepaidonamonthlybasis. If a child is registered in the schoolonorbefore the15thof thatmonth, parentswill be required to pay full amount for thatmonth. For example, if a child isenrolledonJanuary10thorevenduringthethirdweekofthemonth,parentswillberequiredtopayfortheentiremonthofJanuary.Theschoolreservestherightnottoreleasereportcardstotheparentsortoanotherschoolunlesstheamountoffeesoutstandingissettledinfull.
Transportation
The school currently has one bus from Scarborough,which help parents bring children to theschool.Thebusfareis$160permonthperchild.Theschoolwillrunabusprovidedthereareatleast15studentsonthebus.Parentscanregistertheirchildrenonthebasisthattheschoolbuswillbeavailable.Registrationformsforthebusshouldbecompletedonlineatthesametimeastheregistrationfortheschool.Iftherearelessthan15studentsonthebus,parentswillhavetomaketheirownarrangementstobring their children to the school. Ifparentsdecidenot to send their children to the schoolbecausetherewerenotenoughchildrentotakethebus,theywillbeentitledtoafullrefundofthedepositandregistrationfees(whereapplicable).

It is the normal practice of many private schools to showcase their students and theirachievementstotheschoolstakeholdersandgreatercommunity.Theschoolendeavorstotakephotographsandvideoinordertoachievethisaim.Ifforanyreasonyouwishyourchildtobenotphotographedorvideorecordedduringschool,afterschool,inschoolclubs,orfieldtrips,pleasesendawrittenlettertotheschoolindicatingyourpreference.
TextbooksandLibraryBooksChildren will be bringing textbooks, workbooks, and other materials home for study and homeworkpurposes.Thechild'snameappearsontheinsidecoverofthetextbooks.Thesebooksareintendedtobeused in our school over thenext five years. Parents are requested tohelp ensure that childrendonotmark them or damage them in any way. Lost books have a replacement value that will be applicableexceptforreasonablewearandtear.Textbooksaretobedistinguishedfromworkbooksthatarewritteninandarenotreusable.Studentsareaskedtoreturnborrowedmaterialsbytheduedatesothatothersmayhaveuseofthem.
