With support of the Government, electric vehicles have started penetrating in the Indian Market. However, availability of adequate Charging Infrastructure is one of the key requirement for accelerated adoption of electric vehicles in India. It is proposed to encourage this by laying down an enabling framework. Objective To enable faster adoption of electric vehicles in India by ensuring safe, reliable, accessible and affordable Charging Infrastructure and eco-system To promote affordable tariff chargeable from EV owners and Charge Stations Operators/Owners To generate employment/income opportunities for small entrepreneurs To proactively support creation of EV Charging Infrastructure in the initial phase and eventually create market for EV Charging business To encourage preparedness of Electrical Distribution System to adopt EV Charging Infrastructure. Establishment of EV Charging Stations Charging stations established at public places for Commercial purpose to charge electric vehicles. (e.g., EV Charging station established in at Municipal Parking Lots, Petrol Stations, Streets, Malls, and Market Complexes etc.) Charging stations established within the premises of a State or Central Government Office Complex, Government Hospitals/clinics/Dispensaries, Government educational Institutions or any other Public office for non-commercial use. (e.g., EV Charging station established in Government Buildings, Municipal Complex, PSU office, other bodies etc.) Charging stations established within the Semi-restricted premises for Commercial or Non-Commercial purpose for charging of Electric vehicles. (e.g., EV Charging stations established for Taxi Aggregators for charging of Taxies, Co-operative housing societies)
