As a commuter student, you’re part of a unique group of students who choose to continue their education while living at home. You’re familiar with the University of Dayton and the surrounding area, which allows you to help other students find their way. However, college is a new experience for all students, including those who choose to commute. New Student Orientation will prepare you to be successful in this new environment. Events at the UD Arena New Student Orientation will officially begin with the Opening Ceremony at the UD Arena on Saturday, August 16, 2008, from 2 to 3 p.m. You and your family are invited to join the entire first-year class and their families as Dr. Curran and New Student Orientation’s student leaders welcome you to UD. Parents and families are encouraged to remain at the UD Arena following the Opening Ceremony for the Parent and Family Welcome by UD’s Provost and Vice President for Student Development, as well as the Parent and Family Resource Fair. If you will be driving on your own, you will need to drive yourself to campus after the Opening Ceremony for the Commuter Student Welcome. You may park in the College Park Center lot indicated on the map on the reverse side of this page. If you ride with your parents to the UD Arena, you will be bused to campus following Opening Ceremony. Your parents and family will need to drive themselves to campus following the parent and family orientation events for the Learning-Living Tailgate at 6 p.m. Please park in the College Park Center lot indicated on the map on the opposite side of the page. Directions to campus from the UD Arena are available on the opposite side of this page. Notebook Computer and FlyerCard pick-up times Because of your close location to campus, you may want to beat the orientation weekend rush and take care of some details before move-in weekend. With a photo ID, you can pick up your computer and FlyerCard beginning Friday, August 15. See the family guidebook you received in mid- July (also available at nso.udayton.edu/guidebook) for additional information about notebook and FlyerCard pick-up. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to meet other commuter students and pick up your student guidebook with helpful information about orientation and UD. Campus representatives will also be available to inform you about important resources for commuters and to answer your questions. Parking Information Be sure to watch your UD e-mail account for more information about parking permits for the upcoming school year.
