Art Historic Living Site Inn. It had run as "Boan Inn" until 2004. - People from cultural fields, including Cultural Heritage nominees, members of the Ministries of Culture,Sports and Tourism, and the National Museum of Korea, all stayed at Boan Inn.

Artspace Boan1942 History

Cultural Accommodation "Tonguidong BoanYeogwan(inn)", located in the 1st street in Tongui-dong, has been always a "cultural space". As the word inn suggests, it has been a shelter for people who have come and gone for over seven decades. But even before that, Tongin-dong, was one of the most important cultural districts for artists of old time Korea. The painter, Kyumje Jeong seon, who established Jinkyung Sansu ,(true-view) style painting, used to spend time in Tongin-dong area with his friends during the Joseon Dynasty. The scholar, calligrapher and painter, Chusa Kim Jong Hui, who made famous work Sehando ,, was born in Tongin-dong. During the Japanese colonial era. Tongin-dong alley was described as dead end alley in Ogamdo by the poet Lee Sang. In addition, the poet Seo Jeong-ju published the literary magazine, The Poets Quarter, actually in Boan Inn with other poets. Not only Tongin-dong and Boan Inn been an inspirational for such artists and poat, but the location is important as it is surrounded by many historical site, such as Gyeongbok Palace, the Blue House, Gwanghwa Gate, Yeongchu Gate, Geumchun, Tongin Market and Inwang Mountain.
