Gurney’s famous Sea Water Spa and Thalasso Center in Montauk released a brand-new body and hair signature product line that has emerged from the sea. This release comes just in time for the holidays. The products are made from all natural marine botanicals, are 100 percent vegan, without parabens, petrochemicals and synthetic fragrance, and are fully

Spaliday Special biodegradable.

After two years of intense research and development, Lola Monte, the wife of the late Nick Monte, along with the Gurney’s team has just released this new body and hair line of all natural seaweed based products. Nick, the creator of America’s only Sea Water Spa and Thalasso Center, drank a shot of seawater every day and was a firm believer in the healing powers of the sea.

With all natural ingredients like Bladderwrack, Sea Fennel, Irish Moss and Dewberry, this is a creation which will not only inspire the beach enthusiasts but one that Nick would whole heartedly approve of.

The centerpiece of the line is

the Firming Marine Body Lotion, a seawater formula that hydrates skin, leaving it luminous.

Attention spa-goers . . . a trendy breakthrough in the beauty industry has now arrived by the premium reading eyewear company, SCOJO New York. What do eyeglasses have anything to do with spa and hospitality? Well, they’re as necessary as an umbrella on a

rainy day.I purchased a few reading glasses

from a local venue and offered them in waiting lounges. Many guests looked to purchase a pair to take home.

These frames can be found in most luxury spas and resorts.

Coming Soon

The Guilt Trip * (PG-13) The Seth Rogen comedy machine is fully revved for this delightful foray wherein a young chemist (Rogen) and his mom (Barbra Streisand) hit the road to hawk his latest invention. The banter, courtesy of screenwriter Dan Fogelman, is often hilarious and always real -- that’s because the script is based on a similar trip Fogelman took. Streisand, the quintessential Jewish mother, is at her absolute best. Kathy Najimy and Adam Scott

co-star. The best comedy of the year -- don’t miss it.

New To Theaters

The Loving Story This documentary about the 1967 Supreme Court decision that legalized interracial marriage is on the short list for an Oscar. Contains actual footage of the couple involved, Richard Loving and Mildred Jeter. Riveting.

New On DVDThe Bourne Legacy The hugely

popular franchise -- the films have grossed a billion dollars worldwide -- carries on with a new Bourne, Jeremy (The Hurt Locker) Renner. It’s even slicker than the others, and features a cast to die for: Rachel Weisz, Albert Finney, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, and the wonderful Joan Allen. Bourne lives on.

by Asher Lee

Today’s Birthday; Jake Gyllenhaal, 1980

On this date 269 years ago Charles Dickens, obviously with an eye on Kindle sales and Amazon downloads, released his novel A Christmas Carol, just in time for, well, Christmas.

On December 19, 1980 in Los Angeles a film director and a screenwriter brought a son who was destined to be in show business into the world. In fact, young Jake Gyllenhaal landed his first acting role at the tender age of 10 and he played Billy Crystal’s son in City Slickers when he was 11. He landed his first lead acting role at 19 and earned critical praise for his performance in Donnie Darko in 2001. His sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, also appeared in the movie. It is truly a family affair – Maggie’s fiancé Peter Sarsgaard is also an actor, and he appeared with Jake in Jarhead.

Gyllenhaal’s breakout role was in Brokeback Mountain in 2005, which earned him an Academy Award nomination. He is now one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood.

Jake and Maggie have some New York roots – they both studied at Columbia University. Jake finds his way into the gossip tabloids from time to time – he had a much-publicized relationship

with songbird/superstar Taylor Swift that ended last year.

ARIES (Mar. 20 - Apr. 20) Practical matters matter most this week. Make some lists and check things off one at a time. This can be a highly organized time and even if it seems you don’t have time to get everything done, be courageously efficient and you will no doubt finish things up.

TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 21) Sudden and unexpected change is the norm this week, so hold on. This fluctuating and potentially chaotic energy is not your comfort zone, but it may be fun!

GEMINI (May 21 - June 22) There is so much talking to do this week, you may forget to breathe. Keep talking and keep breathing. Remember your sense of humor in all of it. Holding on too tight is not recommended.

CANCER (June 22 - July 23) Resist the urge to give your power away or to diminish yourself in any way. Others don’t have all the answers and you will need to trust your direct experience within a situation and regarding your own life. Don’t cave.

LEO (July 23 - Aug. 23) This is the week to finish everything up. The stars are aligned to allow completion to be the priority. Resist the urge to start something new. Focus your energy and prioritize what needs to be finished.

VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 23) The energy is so big around thinking and all rational thought that this is a good week to take a break and remember your emotional needs. Take a long hot bath or cook yourself an amazing dinner, just make sure you are taking care of your emotional needs.

LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 23) Honor your intuition this week and know that things may be changing. If you tune in to the deeper energy, you will be able to feel how things are moving in a better direction.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) It is best to communicate all that you need to communicate this week while the energy is supporting even the hardest of conversations. Just keep talking and offering up your opinions. Just remember you are a healer, so speak in a healing manner.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21) Not a time to abandon yourself emotionally. As a matter of fact, this is the perfect time to let those around you know what you need. Those around you are waiting to love you, let them know how.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 20) This is actually a gentle and creative time. Not your norm in many ways, although you can easily adapt. Do some creative and out

of the box thinking and if you haven’t been moved by music in a while, seek it out. It may change everything.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19) Don’t doubt yourself now. This is an amazing time for you, although you will have to stay open to the continually changing energy. It may be changing, but it is coming closer and closer to aligning itself with you. Trust yourself.

PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) You are moving into a time of greater stability - emotionally and mentally, and even on the physical plane. Everything is about to become more concrete and more real. Wait for clarity so your foundation can be strong.

NOTE: If you were born at the end or beginning of a sign, read the sign before or after your birthday.

Ingredients4 cups dried rigatoni pasta

1 quart cherry tomatoes1/2 lb ground sausage

10 oz arugula3 tbsp butter

3 shallots1/2 c heavy cream

1/2 c grated parmesan cheese2 sprigs of rosemary (chopped)1 handful of parsley (chopped)

1/4 c olive oil1/4 c white wine

1 tbsp ground black peppersalt

Method (serves 4)

Bring a medium sized pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Set your oven to 400 degrees. Peel the skins off the shallots and coat each in a bit of olive oil. Wrap them in tin foil and roast for about 45 minutes.

While this is happening, par cook

Rigatoni With Sausage Cherry Tomatoes And Roasted Shallot Cream Sauce

the ground sausage in a sauté pan over medium-high heat for about eight minutes or until the sausage begins to brown. Strain the fat and set aside for later. While the shallots roast, chop the herbs and cut your tomatoes in half so that you’re ready to assemble the pasta.

When the shallots come out of the oven, soft and golden brown, you can put them into the food processor and puree them with a bit of warm water and a touch more olive oil, if necessary.

To put everything together, start by heating a large sauté pan and add the pasta into the boiling salted water. The pasta will need eight to 10 minutes. Add the olive oil to the hot pan and begin to crisp the ground sausage. When the sausage begins to brown, deglaze the pan with the white wine and allow it to reduce for one minute before

adding the cream, butter, cheese and roasted shallot puree.

Al low these ingredients to incorporate and reduce until a creamy sauce consistency is achieved. The pasta should be strained and added to

the dish, along with the tomatoes and arugula. Toss in the final ingredients and allow them to simmer together in the cream sauce for another three minutes or so before finishing with the chopped herbs.
