Perhaps we may not have enough time to look at the beauty around because of being locked in a wheel of life! Bringing purity and philosophical meditation onto the canvas, an artist Hongjeon Lee expresses the colors that he has seen in his childhood. He takes the essence out of the colors after he deeply understood them and dug into the changing colors in every season. Thus the essence drawn by him is the prime colors that have a strong vitality, which is made seasonally in Korean na- ture. His childhood experience in the countryside was these scenes such as in midsummer fleecy clouds and sometimes dark clouds,wide-spread green fields and dark green hills, an emerald sky after a shower, and the blazing sun. He draws an abstract painting. Though his style is not that of a Kandinsky, this factor is occssionally seen in the usage of prime colors. This might be the re- sult of his admiration for Wassily Kandinsky in his school period. Hongjeon Lee usually gets some of his ideas from nature. Whenever there is a free time, he takes a Walk with bare feet in the forest. It is another reason that he keeps painting because of the touching feeling onto the canvas. At a moment, tears empathically started to run down on his face. He cried with tears. paints mixed with tears on the canvas. When he heard a viewer’s comment “This painting looks like it is keep- ping deep tears.”he realized the universal emotion is same to everybody. In that reason it seems to show the soft rustling sound of bamboo leaves on his painting. His Will to express relationship through nature stands out clearly. When I asked what his plan would be in the fu- ture, he answered seriously, “I Would like to give hope to children in difficulty. I can see some people who’ve got lots of money, but they are cheap. And their spending money is meaningless in many cases. If we help children of familes without parents around us, there are a lot of children who can have hope. They are still pure.”Like his account,If we can find a heart of gold in childhoodhood, this world will be the utipia that everybody wants to make. Thus his childhood are very abundant artistic rea- sonces, and the resting place we need in this turbulent contemporary period. Under the influence of images in the modern society Artist Kwan-Hyung Lee has created unique formative beauty embedded with his artistic spirit by converging popular images with his own characteristics and senses. Just as pop artists who express the images of objects by using advertisements, newspapers and magazines thus demolishing the wall between life and art Kwan-Hyung Lee takes ordinary objects and people familiar to us as subjects for his works. Artists explore multi-layered im- ages where solemn reason merges with free emotions and transcending the boundary between consciousness and unconsciousness, by making use of mass media such as printed materials. Under the theme of what is the beauty of life and he has deeply pondered on the true values of art and thus has been pioneering a new genre of post cross electronic pop art which uses photograph editing applications to innovatively converge individual paintings delicate pho- tographs and the technical refinement of mechanical mechanism based on surrealism which a trend of litera- ture and art in the 20th century also pursues to express the world of unconsciousness and dreams as the basis of creation.Artist Kwan-Hyung Lee has actively put up ex- hibits, while engaged in artistic exchanges with foreign artists by participating in a number of overseas exhibi- tions held in the United Kingdom and France. His art works have mostly been the expression of har- monious balance in unfamiliar time and space based on his refined and serious insight into the other side of mass media. Through a unique structural experiment to over- lap images extracted from advertisements, newspapers and magazines, which demolished the wall between life and art, and various colors, Lee expressed the irony of consecutive reactions in his works, which garnered rave reviews at the Asia Contemporary Art Show in Hong Kong and Singapore.Such decalcomanie works convert the relationship between a surface and its reverse side into etaphysical space through convergence between the artist’ s unique imagination and random formative- ness. Artist Kwan-Hyung Lee draws the drive of creation from dreams, imagination and the world of unknown in his woks. Reflecting such artistic inner sentiments he has pursued his own style of formativeness based on unique electronic art methodologies. 04 2013 Vol. 43 l stest growing art fair in seoul. 96 galleries and 13 enterprises participated in 2013 SOAF.
