Preparation procedures

Before you can upgrade, you need to complete these procedures:

• Determining your current configuration• Making backups

Flow

The following figure describes the corrrect order for the ArtiosCAD upgrade:

2.1.1 Determining your current configuration

The ArtiosCAD installer uses the configuration settings from the last time you installed ArtiosCAD, soyou should not have to check to see which kind of system you have from a configuration standpoint. However, in the case of a client system, you need to know that it gets its license from the server andnot to try to load licenses on it. Consider making a list of your systems and their types for future use.

The most common configurations are “Standalone” or “Client/Server” setups. You wantto find out how your system is configured.

Note: You need (at least 'Local') Administrator rights.

1. Open the Registry:

• For Windows 7:

1. Choose Start .2. Enter regedit in the text field.3. Press Enter.

• For Windows XP:

1. Choose Start > Run...2. For the Open field in the Run dialog, enter regedit.3. Click OK.

2. Check your configuration:

a) In the left column of the Registry Editor expand My Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> SOFTWARE .
