Welcome to the e-learning session titled Applying Integrated Microsoft and Google Services in ProQuest K-12 Resources.

All ProQuest K-12 resources offer integrations with outside cloud or learning services. eLibrary and SIRS provide integrations for cloud services Microsoft OneDrive, and Google Drive, and the classroom education tool Google Classroom. CultureGrams provides integration for cloud service Google Drive, and the classroom education tool Google Classroom. This session applies to how these integrations work within all ProQuest K-12 resources.

1.2 Session Objectives

Notes:

After completing this session you will be able to:

Produce saved content from ProQuest K-12 resources on Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive;Create article links from educators in classroom assignments using Google Classroom;Prepare and post article links from students in classroom assignments using Google Classroom;

1.3 Accessing Drive Integrations

Notes:

To use integrated OneDrive, Google Drive and Google Classroom learning services, you must first log into each service. In SIRS Issues Researcher, SIRS Discoverer, and eLibrary, you have two login options. The first option is to log in on the main screen before running searches in each resource.

1.4 Accessing Drive Integrations

Notes:

The second option is to log in from the menu provided on any topical or article landing page. This module will illustrate logging into your accounts through the main screen before locating content.

1.5 Accessing Drive Integrations

Notes:

CultureGrams provides logins for Google Drive and Google Classroom learning services on the upper right side of any information screen.

1.6 Saving to Google Drive

Notes:

To Save to Google Drive, first Log In to Google Drive with your personal Google account.

1.7 Saving to Google Drive

Notes:

Once you have researched an article or topic page you wish to save, select the Save to Cloud option in the box on the upper right side of the page.

Then select Google Drive from the menu.

The screen will reload to show it has been saved to Google Drive. You may click the words Google Drive to view your content on Google Drive.

1.8 Content on Google Drive

Notes:

Once on Google Drive, look for the folder named for the K-12 database you are using. In this case, it will be eLibrary. Open the folder.

The folder will show your saved article along with any other content you may have previously saved.

When you access the article, the content of the article or topic page will have been pasted into a Google Doc, along with a permanent link to the article on the database.

1.9 Saving to Microsoft OneDrive

Notes:

To Save to Microsoft OneDrive, first Log In to Microsoft OneDrive with your personal Microsoft account.

Notes:

1.11 Content on Microsoft OneDrive

Notes:

Once on Microsoft OneDrive, look for the folder named for the K-12 database you are using. In this case, it will be ProQuest eLibrary. Open the folder.

1.12 Save to Google Classroom -- Educator

Notes:

Saving to Google Classroom involves the tools that Google Classroom provides for creating educator and student assignments. There is a function for Educators to post items and assignments, and a function for students to post items as responses.

As an educator, to post items in Google Classroom, you first need to Log In and search an item to post.

1.13 Save to Google Classroom -- Educator

Notes:

Once you’ve found an item to post, choose the option in the box to Save to Cloud. Then select Google Classroom.

Save to Google Classroom -- Educator 2 (Slide Layer)

1.14 Google Classroom – Create Assignment

Notes:

This will open Google Classroom, ready for you to post. The first step is to choose an existing class. Note that if you are using Google Classroom for the first time, you will need to set up your classes. This session will not provide in-depth training on Google Classroom and will focus on the process of posting from ProQuest K-12 resources into existing classes. Once a class has been selected, action options are provided. Select Create assignment, then locate and select the Go button.

1.15 Google Classroom – Create Assignment

Notes:

The Create Assignment screen may then be filled in with title, instructions, topic, and due date. A durable URL for the associated document is placed with the assignment. Then select Assign.

Clicking the View button will return the finished assignment page.

1.16 Save to Google Classroom -- Student

Notes:

If you are a student, to post in an assignment in Google Classroom, you must start by logging into your Google Classroom account.

1.17 Save to Google Classroom -- Student

Notes:

Once an article is located that meets the needs of your assignment, select Save to cloud, then select Google Classroom.

1.18 Google Classroom – Posting to Assignment

Notes:

From here, select the class, then choose the assignment, then click Go.

A confirmation of the link will be shown, and you may then Attach it to the assignment. Once the attachment is prepared, you may view the assignment.

If there are other items, the student may also add them as desired. The assignment is completed by clicking Turn in.
