In Loving Memory of Arthur L. Fishman and The Emanuel Synagogue and Beth Hillel Synagogue Retired Torah Covers Wall hangings designed and created by Beth Goldberg and Elizabeth Ehrlich Dedicated Saturday September 28, 2019 28 Elul 5779 Arthur L. Fishman was born January 6, 1929 to Maybelle and Herman Fishman in Hartford, CT. They soon moved to their home on Whetten Road in West Hartford and the family was expanded to include his two brothers, Edward and Robert. The entire family was strongly committed to philanthropy and observing Judaism. Maybelle and Herman, along with Arthur, were dedicated to The Emanuel Synagogue, the Jewish Federation, the Bess and Paul Sigel Hebrew Academy, and Hadassah throughout their lives. Arthur became involved before his Bar Mitzvah and continued throughout his life to support all Jewish causes. He was also very committed to sponsoring Russian families and helping them build new lives in America. Arthur married his love, Helene ( Jacobs), in 1955 and they raised three beautiful children, whom he cherished. Arthur also leaves behind the loving spouses of his children, his beloved grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Generous, honest, ambitious and dedicated are just a few of the attributes that describe “Artie.” We miss him dearly every day, and know he would get so much “nachas” seeing these historic Torah covers dedicated to him alongside his beloved stained-glass panels on the bimah. We love you, Dad, Artie, Arthur. — The Fishman Family Rabbi David Small Hazzan Sanford Cohn Ritual Director Moshe Pinchover Executive Director Joyce Hyde Director of Youth and Family Learning Barbara Fink President Mel Simon Rabbi Emeritus Philip Lazowski Rabbi Emeritus Gerald Zelermyer Framing by Frame Dimensions 160 Mohegan Drive West Hartford, CT 06117 (860) 236-1275 www.emanuelsynagogue.org
