Allied Arts will close its 2016 annual campaign with a tremendous opportunity to raise additional funds for arts education, programming and outreach. All donations made by June 30th will be matched dollar for dollar up to $74,250 thanks to the generosity of the Allied Arts Executive Committee and the Kirkpatrick Family Fund. Of the matching fund, $50,000 is reserved for youth arts education projects. At the Campaign Celebration event held on June 9th, campaign co-chairs Karen Delaney and Michael Laird announced that Allied Arts had raised $2,827,377 up to that point. With the new match opportunity, Allied Arts may come close to the $3 million mark which would translate into more Oklahoma students receiving arts education in their classrooms and afterschool sites, and the continuation of cultural outreach into underserved areas. “Allied Arts is grateful to have received a match to help us finish the 2016 campaign strong as this has been the most challenging fundraising year in our 45-year history,” stated Allied Arts President/CEO Deborah McAuliffe Senner. “Our campaign is $500,000 down compared to last year, which will result in an approximate $1.2 million funding loss for local cultural nonprofits when combined with the Oklahoma Arts Council’s funding cuts. Furthermore, state budget cuts have eliminated 44 art teacher positions which were responsible for 65 art programs in the Oklahoma City Public School District alone. We need the community to rally together to keep arts education in schools and to keep our region’s forward momentum going.” You can help us meet the match challenge to benefit arts education and outreach!
