From May 22nd to August 1st of 2013, I was
one of the forty-one participants in
Messiah Colleges International Business
Institute study abroad program.
In ten weeks IBI traveled through thirteen
countries, and its students completed four
intensive courses: Comparative Economic
Systems, Global Business Strategy, Global
Marketing, and International Trade and
Finance.
During IBI we acquired invaluable
business-related skills, international
connections with successful multinational
companies, and a greater understanding of
international business and economics.
The relationships I made on this program
and the experiences I have had continue to
motivate me to reach farther for my
dreams to make a global difference in the
lives of others.
I hope you enjoy a snapshot of my
summer!

Prague was a beautiful city with wonderful gothic, renaissance, and baroque architecture. It has a rich history, and a very easytransportation system. While we were in Prague we worked on
our third class Global Business Strategy.
From our hotel we could take the tram to Prague Castle and walkpast Saint Vitus Cathedral (pictured on the right), which is theCzech Republics biggest and oldest church. As we continuedwalking we crossed the Charles Bridge to get to the Old TownSquare and see Pragues famous Astronomical Clock. It was firstinstalled in 1410, and is the oldest astronomical clock stillworking.
On a hill above the city isthe Petrin Lookout Tower,
an observation tower thatoverlooks the entire city.Walking around the citywas so enjoyable; alongthe way were many publicparks, rose gardens, andquaint wooded pathwaysshowcasing Praguesbeauty.
We only had two corporate visitswhile we were in Prague. Our first was to Stanley Black andDecker, a Fortune 500 Americanmanufacturer of industrial tools andhousehold hardware.
And our second visit was to DDBWorldwide CommunicationsGroup Inc., which is a worldwidemarketing communications network. They have international clients suchas McDonalds, Nestle, ExxonMobil,PepsiCo, and Johnson & Johnson. Our speaker not only educated uson DDB, but also on the Czechsense of humor, lifestyle, values, and how to engage them in amarketing strategy.
