Register on the Armond Dalton Resources Website
To register on the Armond Dalton Resources website
(www.armonddaltonresources.com), complete the following steps:
Click Login.
Click Create an Account.

Register using your school email address.
After your registration is complete, the Dashboard window will
appear.
Click on Profile.
Complete your registration information and click update when
complete.

Use the drop-down to choose your college and professor, then
click Add Professor..
Note: Colleges are listed alphabetically by proper name. If you
attend University of Alaska, you would search Alaska, Univ of. If
you have selected the correct college and you do not see your
instructor listed, please email [email protected] with your
college and professor.
If you have more than one professor using the Armond Dalton
Resources website, you are able to add another professor. Your
professors will be listed under professors on the profile page.
Click on Dashboard.
Note: If you do not enter your university here your registration
with ACL will be delayed and possibly overlooked.

Click the down arrow on the left side of the Books box.
Locate the ACL Analytics title in the Books table. Click Verify
under the Action column.
Type the One-Time Use Code from the front of your Instructions
book (or e-book email) into the Verify the Book box. The license
code will not be visible until you scratch off the silver coating
in the middle of the sticker. Note: Simply use a coin and gently
scratch off the silver coating to reveal the code; DO NOT TRY TO
REMOVE THE STICKER. If you over-scratch the code or the code is
missing, please take a picture of the sticker and email it to
[email protected]
Click OK.

Scroll down below the Books table. You will see a box where you
can enter the Section code
that you received from your professor.
Enter the Section code and click Add Section Code.
If the course information does not appear under Sections,
refresh your browser (F5 or Ctrl+R) and it should appear.
Note: If you were provided with a section code from your
instructor, you will come back to this site later when you are
ready to submit your online homework. See page E-18 for
instructions.
Note: Your professor may choose to have you complete your
homework on this website. If so, you will receive a Section Code
from your professor to enter. This code can be entered at a later
time if you have registered before your professor has provided you
with a code.
After entering a valid code, you will receive a message that
your verification was successful.
If the data sets do not appear in the ACL Analytics row of the
Books table, refresh your browser (F5 or Ctrl+R) and they should
appear. You will use these data sets later to replace the data sets
installed with the ACL Analytic software.

Access to the ACL Software
You will be registered for access to the ACL software by your
professor. Once your registration is accepted you will receive two
emails from Highbond Notifications with the subject, Activate your
account and Sign in to your account.
Note: If your professor does not have a site-license and you are
registered by Armond Dalton Publishers, you will not receive your
email immediately. It may take up to 24 hours to receive your email
during regular business hours. If you register on Friday after the
daily registration has been uploaded or on Saturday and Sunday you
will be registered the following Monday or next business day.
Check your email for a message from Highbond Notifications and
open the Activate your
account email. Note: If you do not receive an email, check your
spam folder.
Click on the link “Activate your account” in the email.
You will be redirected to the ACL activation window.
When signing into ACL for the first time after completing your
activation, you must sign in using the email address listed in your
activation email from Highbond.
Note: If you do not activate your account within 30 days of
receiving the emails, the Activate your account will no longer
work. If this happens open the Sign in to your account email and
click Reset Password. You will receive a new Activate your account
email.

Close all other open programs and, if you have not already done
so, temporarily disable
any anti-virus protection software and firewalls. It is very
important that you follow this
step to ensure that the software downloads correctly. You may
have more than one anti-
virus program and firewall; make sure to disable all versions.
If you are unsure of how to
disable your anti-virus or firewall, a simple internet search
can help.
Complete the required information in the activation window. Use
the name of your college/
university as the Organization and “Student” as the Title.
Mark the boxes next to the terms of use and consent
agreements.
Click Accept Invitation.
After accepting the invitation you should then see your
Promotional Account information.
Click on Downloads under Resources.
Download and Install ACL Analytics (NOT APPLICABLE TO LAB
COMPUTERS - If you are using a lab computer continue to page
E-16).
To ensure proper installation, perform the following steps to
install ACL for Windows:
Check the configuration of the computer where ACL for Windows
will be installed to ensure that it meets the minimum software and
hardware requirements. For more information, see the system
requirements located in Chapter 1 of the
Instructions and Assignments book.
Ensure that you have Administrator rights on the computer on
which you are performing the installation.
Temporarily disable all anti-virus and firewall programs while
downloading and installing the ACL software, as well as when
downloading the Armond Dalton data.

Click Download Version 14.1.X under ACL for Windows. Note: ACL
performs live updates,
your version may vary.
It may take several minutes to download the ACL software. Most
computers will show the process at the bottom of your screen.
Once the download is complete, double-click on the progress
window.
Click Yes if you receive a message asking if you want to allow
ACL to make changes.
The ACL Installer will briefly appear on your screen.
Note: If you do not temporarily disable your anti-virus and
firewall, YOU WILL HAVE SOFTWARE PROBLEMS. If this happens and you
contact Armond Dalton Publishers, we will tell you that you need to
uninstall and reinstall the software with the anti-virus and
firewall disabled.

After the installer is complete you will then be prompted to
choose the setup language.
Select English, if that is not the default language, and click
OK.
The Setup Extraction Location window will appear.
Take note of the destination folder and click Extract.

You will see a screen that will show you that the extraction
process has started.
The ACL Installer will check your computer for software
requirements. If your computer is missing any of the requirements,
the InstallShield Wizard will prompt you to install any required
items.
Click Install if you are prompted to install any
requirements.
Some of these requirements may need you to accept license
terms.

If prompted, accept license terms and click Install.
After ACL has installed any requirements you will see a
configuration window flash and then a Welcome window.
Click Next
Click Next to accept the terms in the license agreement.

Select Non-Unicode if it is not already the default.
Click Next. The following destination folder window appears.
Take note of the destination folders as you will need to load
the updated data sets that you will download later in these
E-materials.

Click Next. The following “Ready to Install the Program” window
appears.
Click Install.
The setup software will begin copying ACL to your hard drive.
Installation should take no longer than a couple of minutes for
most systems.
You have completed installing the ACL software when the
following window appears.
Click Finish.
The ACL for Windows icon should now be included on your
desktop.

Load the Project Data Files into ACL Analytics
Sample data files were installed as part of the installation of
the ACL program. To complete the assignments in this book, you will
need to replace the current data files with the updated data files.
If you are using a computer in your school’s lab you will need to
store your ACL Project Data Files on a USB drive that you intend to
use throughout the project. Complete the following steps to
download the ACL Project Data Files.
Close all other open programs and, if you have not already done
so, temporarily disable
any anti-virus protection software and firewalls. It is very
important that you follow this
step to ensure that the software downloads correctly. You may
have more than one anti-
virus program and firewall; make sure to disable all versions.
If you are unsure of how to
disable your anti-virus or firewall, a simple internet search
can help.
Note: If you do not temporarily disable your anti-virus and
firewall, YOU WILL HAVE SOFTWARE PROBLEMS. If this happens and you
contact Armond Dalton Publishers, we will tell you that you need to
uninstall and reinstall the software with the anti-virus and
firewall disabled.
(NA for Lab Users) Navigate to the Data Set destination folder
you recorded on page E14.
(NA for Lab Users) Locate and double-click on the ACL Data
folder. You should see a folder named Sample Data Files.(NA for Lab
Users) Delete this folder.LAB USERS-Create a folder named ACL Data
on your USB drive.Return to the Armond Dalton Resources website and
sign in.
Locate the Sample Data Files in Books table on the Dashboard
page.
Download the Sample Data Files.zip file to the ACL Data folder.
Do this by right-clicking
on the zip file and selecting the “Save link as” option,
navigating to the ACL Data folder,
and typing the following file name in the File Name box: Sample
Data Files. The following illustration shows the path of where you
should download the zip file, as well as the file name you should
use.

If you cannot direct your computer to put the file anywhere
specific, then it was likely saved to your downloads folder with a
random file name (series of numbers and letters).
If the file was saved to your downloads folder with a random
file name, you will have to
locate the zip file, rename it to Sample Data Files, and move it
to the ACL Data folder.
After you make sure that the zip file is in the ACL Data folder
with the proper file name
(Sample Data Files), extract the file to the ACL Data
folder.
The following illustration shows a proper extraction location
just prior to executing the extraction.
When properly extracted, you will have the updated Sample Data
Files folder.

Online Homework
When you are ready to submit your online homework, you will log
in to the Armond Dalton Resources website at
www.armonddaltonresources.com, using the username and password you
created on your first visit to the site. If you have not already
done so, enter the section code that was provided to you by your
instructor. See page E-6 for reference. Locate the ACL Analytics
activity/activities in the Section box on the Dashboard page. The
activity start date/time and end date/time are listed on the
table.
Your professor may assign multiple activities to be completed
over the course of the semester. If this is the case, each activity
will be listed in the table.
Click the drop-down arrow on the button under the Action
column.
Click Activity Overview.

Click “Enter Answers.”
Choose the chapter for which you are submitting your
answers.
Your professor may assign two parts of homework for each
chapter. To access the other part, click on the tab below the
chapter name in the Choose Chapter box.
You can save, exit, and return at any point without submitting
final answers by clicking on the “Save Homework” button located at
the top and bottom of each page. You can submit the homework for
Part I and Part II of a chapter separately by clicking the “Submit
Homework” button in each part. You can also submit the parts at one
time by clicking the “Submit All Homework” button in Part II of the
chapter homework.
NOTE: If you are required to upload more than one file, you will
need to zip the files together to upload them as one compressed
file. ATTACHMENTS DO NOT SAVE IF YOU CLICK SAVE TO RETURN TO YOUR
HOMEWORK AT A LATER TIME. YOU WILL NEED TO ATTACH THE COMPRESSED
FILE AGAIN BEFORE SUBMITTING.

With a homework activity that contains multiple chapters, you
will submit each chapter individually. You can submit a part of
homework without completing all questions/problems. You will not
receive points for the question/problem. If you do so, you will
receive the following warning message:
Click Submit anyway.
With each submission the screen will display the points earned
and possible for the part of homework. Some answers need to be
reviewed by the instructor before the points earned will be
displayed. These submissions will say “Not Graded” until the review
has been done.
Once the submission has been reviewed by your professor, it will
say “Graded” and your score will be displayed. You can return to
view your score by locating the activity in the Sections table of
the Dashboard, clicking the drop-down arrow on the button under the
Action column, and clicking Activity Overview.

Uninstall the ACL Analytic Software
When you uninstall ACL for Windows, you uninstall all
components:
l ACL Analyticsl The Analysis App windowl The ACL for Windows
launcherl Project Manager client
All ACL for Windows application files are removed from your
computer, but ACL project files, data files, logs, and any
project-specific preferences files remain in the ACL project
folders.
Note: You must be logged in as a Windows user with Administrator
rights to uninstall the application.
To uninstall ACL for Windows:
Open the Windows Control Panel.
Click Uninstall a program.
Select ACL for Windows and click Uninstall.
Click Yes when you are asked if you are sure that you want to
uninstall.
If a User Account Control box appears, click Yes.
Click OK if you receive a message that says, “The setup must
update files or services that
cannot be updated while the system is running. If you choose to
continue, a reboot will be
required to complete the setup.”
Restart your computer to complete the uninstallation.
