The great Zig Ziglar said You can have everything in life that you want if you just give enough other people what they want and to me that is at the very heart of a Cham-ber. A successful Chamber gives back to its business and social community in a way no other organization can, because like no other organization we are solely focused on the success of our business members. It takes strength and dedication to build and maintain this organization but over the years Arlington-Smokey Point has proven to be made up of citizens willing to do what it takes to keep our community strong.

It is my goal as President this year to build our Chamber both in number of members but more importantly in value of membership because I know that givers gain and that together we can do even better for our community. This directory is one of the many tools I will be putting into the hands of our community this year but in my eyes this directory is a key component to the overall success of Chamber because it gives you a direct resource to support those businesses that support you and yours. Our foundation is strong and I am excited at the prospects on the horizon for this year and the years to come and I look forward to being a part of the next level of the Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce. As Mayor of Arlington, and a former Board of Director for the Arling-ton-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce I understand how important it is to represent and promote our business economy, and encourage business and industrial investment, to both enhance our economy and provide employment. As your mayor I work with the city council and city staff to promote economic development, provide quality city services, and enhance our community by providing exceptional public spaces. Arlington continues to be a vibrant community with a growing business base. I am confident that we will continue to improve our local economy. This year the city has received funding to make a number of improvements to roads, water, and wastewater systems. Projects such as these provide the needed im-proved infrastructure to support business growth. We are also fortunate to have several unique business districts that support both small and large businesses. Arlington is a leader in the aerospace and industrial manufacturing sectors, is home to many innovative companies that are producing Green products and has a downtown retail center that continues to grow. From January 2013 through April, 45 new businesses have received li-censes in Arlington! With such an active business community, we are confident that residents are able to purchase locally. Citizens and visitors can attest to the value they receive from the services of our local businesses. The Citys longstanding relationship with the Chamber of Commerce is mutually beneficial as we work together to maintain and advance the business climate in our community. The Chamber hosts many events such as Membership Luncheons and Business After Hours events to give you the opportunity to meet more potential clients, other local busi-nesses and customers face-to-face. Promotes tourism in Arlington, Smokey Point and the surrounding areas. The Cham-bers Visitor Information Center is open whenever the office is and is full of information for visitors and residents alike. The Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber has sponsored the new digital CyberTour Annual events with Sponsorship opportunities, such as our Black & White Gala, Carni-val, 4th of July Events and Fireworks Extravaganza and BBQ Cook-Off & Market Place.

Arlington-Smokey Point Visitor Center Arlington-Smokey Point Visitor Center-The Chamber of Commerce Board has also changed the mission of the traditional Visitors Information Center at Smokey Point. The ASPCOC Visitor Center will be focusing almost entirely on Arlington and Smokey Point businesses and attractions, while maintaining brochures and information on the most popular Seattle, Tri-Cities and Canadian attractions. We have been able to obtain new Washington State Maps and make them available for just $1.00 each. The new Visitor Center opened in the Chamber office in January 2013, and will be open, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm., closed for lunch and holidays. You can always call before you come (360) 659-5453, to be sure the location is open.

New for 2013 ~ The Arlington Cyber Tour

The Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce takes tourism digital with our new CyberTour.

This tour plan creates a mobile tour of our city, with signs at strategic places. Those with smart phones can use the QR code to read about the attraction they are viewing. Those with regular phones can call the phone number listed on the sign and listen to a record-ing about the attraction. Each attraction invites tourists to proceed to the next location, with 12 total in Arlington, including: The airport, local tribes, parks, farms (coordinated with Red Rooster Route), outdoor recreation, history, art (coordinated with Arlington Arts Council), downtown shopping and dining (coordinated with Downtown Arlington Business Association), Smokey Point shopping and dining, trails, and other visitor infor-mation sources. (This project is fully funded by using grant money awarded by the City of Arlington and Snohomish County).

DABA is a group of downtown Arlington merchants that meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 8 AM. Currently, we meet at Wild Rose Catering at 318 N. Olympic Avenue. The City Council meets at 7:00 pm on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. In addition, the Council has workshops on the 2nd and 4th Monday. No action will be taken at workshops. The meetings are held in the Council Chambers 110 E. 3rd St. Arlington, WA 98223. The public is encouraged to attend. The Airport Commission meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Airport Meeting Room at the Airport Office at 18204 59th Dr NE, Arlington, WA. The Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission (PARC)-Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Council Cham-bers located at 110 East Third Street. The Planning Commission meets in the Council Chambers at 110 East Third Street at 7:00 pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday unless there is a Monday holiday, in which case, the meetings are moved to the follow-ing Thursday. The Cemetery Board is a voluntary board consisting of five citizens from the Arlington Community that serves the Arlington Municipal Cemetery. The members of the commission are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
