"6 OF 1 THING"• After having five players score in double-figures on Feb. 7 in a win over south Alabama, Arkansas State followed up by having six players score in double-figures in a high-scoring game against Troy on Feb. 9.• Almost exactly four years prior, A-State also accompished the feat of six players scoring in double-digits at Troy in another high-scoring contest on Jan. 25, 2015.
"FIVE FINGER DISCOUNT"• A-State accomplished a rare feat in the sport of college basketball on Feb. 7. The Red Wolves had five players score in double-figures, marking just the 30th time since the 2001-02 season that A-State has had five or more players reach double-figures in a game.• A-State is 26-4 all-time in games in which five players score in double-figures.• Even more rare, all five players that reached double-figures on Thursday were starters, some thing that has happened just eight times for A-State since 01-02.

JONESBORO, Ark. (2/9/19) – The Arkansas State wom-en’s basketball team had five players score at least 13 points, including sophomore guard Morgan Wallace with a double-double, but it wasn’t enough to over-come a Troy squad that connected on 14-of-27 three pointers as the Red Wolves fell 100-89 in Sun Belt ac-tion Saturday at First National Bank Arena.
With the setback, A-State now stands 9-13 overall and 4-7 in league play. Troy remained near the top of the Sun Belt standings as it improved to 8-3 against con-ference opponents, and the Trojans also improved to 17-5 overall.
Peyton Martin posted a game-high 17 points to pace the Red Wolves’ offensive attack, which also saw Jireh Washington, Wallace and Akasha Westbrook score 16 each. Jada Ford added 13 points for the Red Wolves as they had five players reach double digits for the second straight outing and third time this year.
A-State connected on a season-high 49.2 percent of its shots, and its 89 points were its most in regulation this year, but Troy countered with a 51.9 three-point percentage that was actually higher than its overall 43.0 mark from the field. The Trojans’ 14 three point-ers were one shy of tying the arena record currently held by the Red Wolves.
“Troy did what they do best today and got the game into their pace, forced 23 turnovers and just had an incredible shooting day,” A-State head coach Brian Boyer said. “It just seemed like every time we had a chance to cut into the lead they just hit big shots.”
Rallying from 13 points down in the third quarter, the Red Wolves pulled to within 70-69 of the Trojans early in the fourth following a Ford three pointer that was one of four made on the day by the squad.
However, Troy went on a 13-0 run over the next three minutes to open up its largest lead of the contest at 83-69 with 7:34 remaining. Arkansas State was able to get back within six points of Troy two different times down the stretch, but couldn’t get any closer.

BOYER VS OPPONENTS
One of the most recognizable names and faces in the Sun Belt Conference and women's college basketball, Brian Boyer has built an illustrious career highlighted by countless milestones, accomplishments and success on the court. In his 19 years on the sidelines, Boyer was the primary architect in transforming the Arkansas State wom-en's program into a model of consistency since taking over in 1999. He has coached the Red Wolves to seven appearances in the Women's National Invitation Tournament and three SBC regular-season championships including the outright regular season crown in 2013-14 and 2015-16. An ambassador for both Arkansas State and the sport of college basketball, Boyer has enjoyed an unprece-dented level of success through an energetic and positive approach to the game. A four-time Sun Belt Confer-ence Coach of the Year (2003-04, 2004-05, 2013-14 & 2015-16), Boyer has compiled an impressive 321-269 (.544) record over his 19-year career. He is the longest tenured basketball active coach in the conference and has also coached more games than any basketball coach (men's or women's) in Arkansas State history. Only 20 coaches have been employed that their current institution longer, placing him among the longest tenured coaches in the NCAA. Boyer started his head coaching career in 1999-00 and two other coaches from that same season are also employed with their schools as a head coach (Care Green - Liberty & Aaron Johnston - South Dakota State). The 2017-18 season saw the Red Wolves return to the national spotlight when the team defeated Florida in a thrilling 70-69 in Gainesville in front of nationally televised audience on the SEC+ Network. The win marked the sixth victory over an SEC school in Boyer’s head coaching career and it was also the 16th win over an SEC member school in the program’s history. The road win was also the sixth non-conference road win over a higher resource conference (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC). A-State had an unprecedented run of success between the 2013-14 through the 2015-16 seasons and com-piled 73 wins, the most in school history over any three-year span. During the run, A-State won two regular Sun Belt Conference championships, appeared in two SBC Tournament conference championship games and led his squad to three straight WNIT berth for the second time in school history. Perhaps the most historic season in school history, the 2015-16 campaign saw the Red Wolves set school records in victories (27), consecutive wins (18), field goal percentage (45.0), scoring margin (14.5) and tie the mark for most home victories (14) in a season. The squad shattered the mark for regular season wins with 25 and won its second regular season SBC championships since 2013-14. The team received national recogni-tion for its accomplishments and was ranked in the top-10 of the College Insider and ESPN Mid-Major polls throughout the year. A-State also received votes in both the Associated Press (AP) and Coaches' poll through much of the regular season. Boyer is a graduate of Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, Mo., where he earned his bachelor's degree in education.
