a collaborative design studio focused on combining the three design disciplines: architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design. the premise of the studio was to take a project from Concept to Construction docu-ments incorporating the needs of each discipline, and uniting the ideals of the group members. the Project site is located in dallas, just off of turtle Creek Park, and the concept idea was to create a tranquil and organic atmosphere to promote a healthy living environ-ment by reflecting the existing ge-ometries of the surrounding region as well as the more free flowing patterns occurring in nature.

the site consists of a sharp grade change moving from southwest to northeast, as well as a drop in grade from the site to Cedar springs. to accommodate this change in grade, the landscape architects and myself collaborated to design a split in the building which creates a through axis con-necting the street corner and katy trail, as well as allowing for a drop in elevation to front retail closer to the street level.

with a focus on vernacular design, the lubbock lakeside Community theatre is designed to respond to the environment and geography of the canyon landscape in west texas. the entrance on the north facade is level with the top of the ridge and can be accessed from the on grade parking. once inside the complex, the patron is processed around the vertical circulation core of the lobby to reveal the expansive, multi-level grand lobby. the the-atre is accessed from both the entry level and the lower lobby. the facility offices are accessed from the entry level, and the restaurant is located on the second floor, allowing the restaurant patio to take advantage of a large rooftop patio of the lower lobby.
