The painting shown to the right was a compositional painting comprised of three individual assignments. The first assignment (part A)was to paint the gray scale, starting from black and ending with white. The second part (part B) was to paint an area of grass according to the gray scale. Each individual blade of grass was painted. Lastly, an area within the architecture building was painted the gray scale to convey depth. Once these there assignments were done, the overall painting had to be combined into an entire composition. Finally, the students combined the paintings to make one big class painting.

Trim Joist Honorable Mentioned

The TrimJoist Competition is a school wide competition that focuses on the performance and construction of buildings. For this particular project, a connecting building had to connect two neighboring buildings (Giles Hall and Howell Hall).

After the TrimJoist competition, the project continued on for the rest of the semester. I composed my building based upon a musical term: syncopation. The building form creates a rhythm with varied roof heights, while the windows and skylights create syncopated moments that is measured against the rhythmic form.

New Orleans Neighborhood Market

This project was a summer studio project located in New Orleans. The premise of this project was to create a building that would attract people and could entice them to socialize. For this particular project, I designed a mix use building that contained a local grocery store, a grill that had outdoor setating, and a deli shop.

The project was to house a Linjett boat for display. The program was limited to a few spaces which included a showing room, office for the managers of the company, and a small storage for the various items like brochures.
