What you’ll coverAbout the courseThis course is a unique combination ofthe design, technology and science ofarchitecture, sustainability andconstruction. It is founded on the coresubject knowledge requirements of theChartered Institute of ArchitecturalTechnologists (CIAT). What makes itunique are its live projects and itsintegrated environmental approach to thedesign and application of CAD and BIMtechnology, digital designs and buildingsimulation systems. These have beencarefully nurtured since the course began.

How you’ll learnPractical architectural design andtechnology projects will form the basis ofyour study, supported by management,procurement and contracts as well asprofessional practice studies. We alsoregularly have industry experts as guestlecturers.

Entry requirements: Academic – 260 UCAS tariff points, ofwhich at least 220 must be from yourInternational Baccalaureate or equivalentqualification.

Additional informationYou’ll be based at Markeaton Streetwhere you’ll use the latest softwareincluding SketchUp, ArchiCAD, RevitArchitecture, Adobe Photoshop, 3ds MaxDesign, Ecotect and IES.

You’ll be able to get involved in live designcompetitions, and you can also gainvaluable industry experience on a workplacement between stages two and three.This also gives you an additionalqualification – the Diploma in ProfessionalPractice.

You will also exhibit your final year work atour degree show, which allows you toshowcase your work and make vitalindustry contacts. Graduates also exhibitin local and national shows such as FreeRange in London.

If you don’t have the appropriatequalifications to start this course, you canapply to study the Technology FoundationProgramme for a year first.
